Hmm so what exactly qualifies as an 'All Nighter?' maybe actually staying out late with friends until you see the first rays of light? whatever the case may be I've realized its quiet different for everyone. Some use the phrase for study purposes while others are more.. party scene. Well whats yours? What does one usually do? Does it require driving around the streets looking for those 'open 24/7' stores? Well so far my attempts have failed at producing all nighters. One tip I can offer is the word COFFEE :XD theres bound to be someone low on fuel.
Though one things for sure, they produce alot of funny stories.
I remember one time that I went out with friends and we decided to hit a Dennys around midnight and to keep ourselves entertained and awake since it was freezing outside we decided to play some word games on guessing which person wrote what. The game ended up becoming a who can lie the best with a poker face on :XD

I consider "all nighters" when you stay up until the sun rises. :)

I consider an all nighter when you are out working way past your normal schedule. Or if you are up studying way past your normal time. Though if you out having fun with friends, and stay up until sunrise basically. Then I suppose that that can classify as an all nighter XD

To me, an all-nighter implies work! If you're trying to study with your friends, its an all nighter. If you're fooling around with your friend partying, or with a videogame that's got you hooked and oh-my-God-did-the-sun-just-rise? That, to me is just insomnia! XD Incapable of currently sleeping!

all-nighter (plural all-nighters)

1. Something that lasts throughout the whole night.

That party was an all-nighter.
To me its when you stay up all night. As the name implies. Generally associated with work or study, but staying up all night to play a game or hang with friends is still the same thing. Sleep Deprivation for the win.

What qualifies as an all-nighter would be projects from school....and that's about the only time that I ever stay up so late XD I only did it once or twice - not sleeping for a wink for a night, that is. I had to catch up with summatives, so I worked from 6:30 pm all the way to 6:30 am.....with some breaks inbetween for food and water - you get the picture :P

I consider all nighters when I get up one day, and I dont go to sleep until the next day, whether it be morning(after sun rises) or night.

All-nighters to me are staying out until sunrise.
I'm up all night all the time, anyways; to call something an all-nighter means it's not a regular occurrence, so being out and about instead of being up in my room watching scary movies is good.

I stay up late almost every night, but I don't consider them all nighters since I usually to to bed somewhere between 3:00 and 5:00 AM, when it's still dark out. I guess an all nighter would be when you just don't sleep at all, or maybe if you go to sleep after the sun is up. I'm not sure. I end up sleeping all morning until around 2:00 PM. >_< I have done all nighters before, but I don't enjoy them, it's too tiring. Most of the time I'm up, I'm just playing around on the computer, or playing video games, or something like that. It's really just a bad habit my boyfriend and I have of staying up too late, and we don't really leave the house usually. XD Though I did go across the street to my friend's house one night a few weeks ago because she was doing an all nighter and was bored. I've also come home around 2:00 or 3:00 AM a few times. I love driving at odd times like that because there's no one on the road. No traffic at all is amazing. XD But I don't know of many places to go that late at night, other than friends' houses if they happen to be awake.

My first all-nighter was a study thing that turned into a party thing.

We spent from 6pm-2am working on the fortran coding for the rocket launch... then we spent 2am-8am waiting for breakfast. Went off on a mini-adventure around campus looking for fun. We met a drunk passed out on the street and named him Fred. He yelled at us. ):

Last all-nighter I remember was on a school "study" trip to Portugal and Spain(there was a total of 40 people on the trip[5 instructors and 35 students]) last May. It was of course about the Food and Wine of the regions. Anyways, the last night we had a party in one of the bigger hotel rooms(we crammed 25 people in there, and played sociables), we eventually got kicked out by the rooms inhabitants(they wanted to sleep), so about 15 of us went to another room to keep playing/drinking/having fun. By about midnight(we had started partying at like 5pm) 90% of the people were asleep, and only a few of us were up, talking on the balcony. It widdled down to only 3 of us, and we decided to go out for a walk around town. Filled 2 gatorade bottles with booze, then went around taking random fun pictures. We all stayed awake until we were sitting, waiting for our plane. I was the last one to fall asleep, and it was on the plane. I dont even remember buckling up, I just remember sitting, then waking up to walk off the plane.

Ooh, I talked to my friend in Scotland from 8 pm right the way through to 8 am once. I do believe that's an all nighter. :3
They completely mess up my sleep pattern, though. So I tend not to do them very often.

Usually when I'm up all night working on my book, or something else, I call that an all nighter. But I would, at times when I'm extremely tired, call nights when I stay up past 3 a.m. all nighters, simply because I think it ends at around 2:30. Don't ask why, though, I don't know. Ciao!~

I consider an all nighter is staying up a full 24 hours, though if I am out with friends or staying over at their houses or them at mine we often stay awake until the early hours of the morning talking and laughing until we see the daylight creeping in.
