I try not to use rares in an outfit if I can help it. I typically only use them if I'm stumped on a particular accessory and can't find anything else to tie an outfit together.

Rares feel like cheating.

Tis totally true. But I'm a "easiest road" type of person. After using rares, it feels like a bugger, trying to sift through commons to make good layering and something not monstrous...

Though, admittedly, Hatake, you could totally make something monstrous with rares. Haha.
I usually try to mix them in. One rare (sometimes two) with a bunch of commons.
Too bad I'm only good at fairly average avatars though. Haha.

Hata, you just need to organize your inventory better and then the sifting gets easier <3

Lord knows I need to go and reorganize my inventory. Its gotten a bit messy. I keep finding items in the wrong places and wondering how they managed to end up where they are.

I tend to use one EI or CI and accesorize it with alot of commons, only adding in other Rares if I feel they really fit the outfit, not for the sake of adding rares.

I consider rares just like any other item, when I make an outfit I'll use items that I think would go good with it. Doesn't matter to me if it's a common or not ^^;;

I only use them for the new 2010 items... soon I'll put'em within my inventory at the bottom of the last page when I use up all my free boxes. But items only fly over all the place if you hadn't organized them already, that and once you buy new items you'll have to reorganize your inventory again. It's annoying but it works. <3

@ RaresConvo; Rares are there to boost your creativity! Its like getting the STRONGEST weapon inside a video game. It's a treat, ya'know? It's like the secret item you get for working hard, receiving through charity or gaining enough to buy it. All games, avatar forums work like that. o.o;

Otherwise it'd be boring and blah ~

That's pretty much what I follow too. Also, what's the point in owning rares if you never plan to use them? :lol:

I think you can be creative regardless of whether or not the item has multiple poses or if it's overused. Not to sound cocky, but I think my outfit is a good example of that. I've used a ton of rare item poses in this outfit, but I really haven't seen anyone else make an outfit with a similar combination of colors and layering.

In my opinion, the overall look tends to be more important than the items you use to make it.

When I take off all my items they just go to their right spots, if I've arranged them. I have some items in my main inv because I don't really feel like moving it right now..

It's not cocky if your outfit is truly awesome. And yours is. :)

I try to limit my rares, not because I consider it uncreative, but mostly because I have a rather odd collection of rares which I know I will try to use all at the same time, and the result is bizarre and displeasing. Heh. I think of the rares as icing and the commons as the cake.
