Or am I just scared a lot? At night I pull the blanket over all my body except my nose, so if a robber or something breaks in they hopefully would just think I'm a pile of pillows or something. When it's dark I run past windows so no one can shoot me. I always close the blinds all the way if I sleep in the living room, otherwise someone could look in. I always say "Without paranoia people would walk down dark alley ways all the time and be mugged." Is that reasonable?

How old are you? I'm 24 and I'm still a little paranoid, don't worry!
I run and jump into bed after the lights off. And I refuse to watch a scary movie if my husband won't be there to go to sleep with me!
As long as it doesn't rule your life and as long as you can laugh at yourself sometimes and realize that (sometimes) it can be a bit silly, you're fine. We all have our little idiosyncrasies.

As long as you don't let it control you, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The world's becoming a dangerous place, so a measure of paranoia isn't necessarily a bad thing.

PrincessBane is right, but i think you should let it go a little bit, coz, sometimes, you can get in big troubles because of your paranoia... talking by experience, believe me.;)

I wouldn't worry; I do stuff like that, too (at night, I can't walk with my back to a dark room, I have to run to get back to my bed after going to the bathroom/kitchen/wherever I needed to go). As long as you're not losing sleep over it or letting it totally run your life, I think it's okay to be cautious, if a little unpleasant at times.

I'm not sure if this is paranoia, but when I was like 7 or 8 my mind would turn ordinary furniture into demons and monsters. I would run to bed after the lights are out and when during daytime, I keep turning around when I'm alone because I felt watched.

For as long as people can remember, people have always been afraid of the darkness, of the unknown. It isn't paranoia, it is just a fear that has always been embedded in people's hearts. Frankly it would be strange not to be freaked out a little by something like that. It is scary, people don't like what they can't see or control. That's just a part of life, we (like all animals) are surviving. That is why we jump when we hear a loud noise, or flinch when something is coming at us. Don't worry you are perfectly normal, I dn't know anyone who isn't even a little afraid of the dark. Not even my 52 year old dad can say that he isn't afraid of the dark. Lol :D

It is a natural human feeling.
I wouldn't worry too much.
I don't walk next to peoples garden paths when it's dark.
I'd rather walk in the middle of the road.
At least then i couldn't be caught by surprise.

OH MY GOSH YOU ARE JUST LIKE ME!
I won't let my feet hang over the bed because I don't want a monster to get them!
I won't hum in an empty room because I don't want to bother some bad guy that hates humming!
I always keep my blinds closed because I'm afraid that a guy is on the roof looking at me change my clothes!
I'm not sure if it's paranoia or OCD or a mix of the two...but I'm not sure what to do about it!
Edit: And I agree with you when you say that people with paranoia are always safer...because they don't take risks, even simple ones!

I hate going by windows and such at night, anything that leaves a reflection, I'm always afraid I'll see someone behind me.. or peeking in through the windows ^^;

Actually, the fear is kind of uncontrollable xD;
In fact, I have paranoia, as well, and trust me, it's not as easy as it seems o3o;
I've never had any trouble with me being paranoid however.

I agree with you, Misfittbaby. It's not as simple as just letting it go, and in fact it's impossible.

Thats totally reasonable and might even save you. At my last house, there was actually some weirdo that was hanging round the house, peeping through windows and stuff like that ( at this time we were totally opposite to paranoid) and when we found out, I was so scared I wanted the windows boarded up!
