Pets have to be social... at least with the owner!
I wouldn't want a pet that didn't cuddle at least a little bit...

I've seen some cuddy lizards...
Snake do too by twining around your arm and stuff.
Insects and aracnids are NOT cuddly...

@ Jean - I haven't really seen any lizards that particularly snuggle up with you and enjoy it and stuff. They'll sit on you and be content, but aren't overly friendly. Snakes do wrap around you and stuff, but sometimes thats just for warmth. lol And they have no other way to get around besides that.
@ Roachi - Yeah, it is pretty sad. I wonder if it grows back.

My rat just passed away today. He was doing pretty bad all of today. I was really hoping his meds would help and he'd get better, but he just was so weak. Breathing was so difficult for him. Luckily I got to be there for him when he passed, though. Held him close and gave him kisses. Had him outside, so I hope that had cheered him up a little. He always loved being outside.
@ Roachi - A sugar glider?
If so, those thins are sooo rediculously adorable.

Aaaw. Just looked, and evidently California does not allow ownership of them here. :/ Stupid California. We have the stupidest animal laws here. :<

Su, I'm so sorry for your loss.
That is so great that you were able to be with him and hold him.
I'm sure it's a great comfort to you to know that you were able to help him at the end.
He must have been happy.

Thank you.
And yeah, it does make me feel a lot better that I was at least with him. I was crushed when my little bird died all alone, and same with our cat. Its just really sad to think of dieing all alone. Having someone there really means a lot more, I would imagine. Its the reason I wouldnt' go anywhere for long while he was sick. He was not well, and I didn't want to leave him alone. Also, he was so clumsy because of his back legs, I was afraid to not have him just sitting right there by me. He kept wanting back in his cage, but he fell odd the second floor once and stumbled down the stairs usually, so I didn't like having him in there.

I think that having pets is a wonderful thing.
It teaches us to care for and about other things.
Unfortunately, it also teaches us about death...but in the end it helps us to handle it.

Honestly, I much prefer animals to humans
So, it doesn't really make me care more about other people. lol

Dogs, parakeets, goldfish, little green turtles...

What do you mean?
When it means about other things, as in other living things, then perhaps. But i've lived my whole life with pets, so i've always had respect for them. I think people that treat animals cruely are really the monsters. I cannot stand people that hurt animals just because they can or just for the fun of it. Just sick.

I just meant that it can help small children learn empathy for others.

Which is good
Thats one way to sometimes notice when someone is a psychopath. They tend to be very disturbed as children and find a lot of joy from harming animals. But they lack empathy.

Yes. That is just so scary!
I never knew any children who tormented animals....
(Unless you count my brother who used to pull the legs off the daddy longleg spiders)

I actually had a kid that I worked with that does. I was seriously very concerned. I think he'll turn into a psychopath, because he is very mentally disturbed, for sure. Like, he is a cute kid and he seems okay, but he's a klepto and has killed quite a good number of kids, and that was just when I knew him when he was in first grade. I had stabbed a kitten through the eye with a screwdriver, and strangled a chicken, and an assortment of other things. He lives on a far, and his grandma was telling me about it (or maybe his mom or aunt, I never understood the relationships with those people).
Oh man, I know a guy that when we were in elementrary he use to do that to spiders all the time. I remember I almost decked him one time because it pissed me off so bad. Such a cruel thing to do.

They're very cute. Just adorable little creatures. They require quite a bit for their care and diet, though. Can be a little expensive.
And yeah, it sucks. -__-;; Stupid restrictions. Pointless usually, too.
Yeah. :/
Thanks.

Very awesome. I bet they're really sweet, and fun, too.
I dunno. Ferrets are restricted in California because they're like considered varmon or something. They're like pests or whatever.
I'm doing alright. Just try not to think about it.
After being the 3rd pet in the last several months, its kind of just draining me of the feeling for it, I guess. Its really hard to let them go, but at this point there is nothing that I can do. But I have just been having to look past it because I have school to concentrate on.

I had never heard of a sugar glider.
They are really cute!
I have heard that ferrets are great pets.
When my step daughter was living with us, she wanted to get one.
We had cats though, and I had heard that they didn't particularly get along with cats. (They can kill the cats).
So we said no. That's when she got her rat. That was OK. He was big enough that the cats didn't bother him.

They are totally cute. You should look up pictures of baby ones. So adorable.
And yeah, my mom use to have a Ferret. She really liked it. Evidently they can be very attention needy, though.
Aaw. How did that go? Rats are such great pets.
