It's far into the future. A young man has won an almost worldwide contest. The winner gets the chance to use a newly-built and heavily-tested time machine to visit a time period of his choice, for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. The machine malfunctions while he is en route to the past, and he is stuck there indefinitely in the time period he chose. The people he meets...are they real, or not?

Rain wasn't sure what was going on. His world was spinning around. He gripped at some of the grass and then stared at it strangely. “Wait.....grass...” he said softly as he held his head. He really couldn't stop the spinning. He wished that it would stop. He lifted his hand and gently laid it on his forehead. He slowly sat up and just looked around at the greenery that surrounded him. Is this real? he asked himself as he whimpered softly. He was still in his kimono that he'd been just getting ready to change out of when this strange light engulfed him. This strange light that seemed to have given him the hallucination of trees...Okay a forest.
He tried to remember what happened before the blinding light. He'd woken up like he did every morning and got dressed and ready for school. He wondered what would have happened if he was just a few minutes late but he was on time. He walked down the street to school when he saw a man standing there and giving tickets away for a great prize. Just for the hell of it he decided to get a ticket and he ended up winning. He couldn't believe this. All he wanted to do was to work on his projects for school and the cellphone watch that he was creating but now this. He really couldn't think of any better way of getting out of school. Maybe it was his luck and he was going to be able to get out of it. When he followed the man to where he was getting his prize he found a great machine. Rain had been amazed by it and decided to look it over and learn about it while he was able. He didn't expect a huge lightning bolt to come to the room and strike the machine, something that they weren't ready for. A blinding light filled the room and now he was sitting in the grass holding the cloths he'd been told to change into.
He was really not feeling well. He might have over heard that this was a side effect. He hadn't paid attention much because of the fact that he was more interested in the machine. He leaned to his side and held his stomach as he emptied the breakfast that he'd eaten that morning. His body felt on fire as he slowly moved away from the spot he'd landed when he got here. He stood up slowly, with the help of a tree, and started to walk in a random direction. He heard the rushing sound of water and he stumbled towards it. He wanted it too cool his heating body down. He whimpered as he reached the rivers edge. He didn't have the energy to bend down and get water so he just fell into it. He felt the cool water wrap around his body and that was the last thing he could recall as he passed out.

Thankfully, there was only one person in the forest at this time who was close enough to hear the loud crack break the serene silence of the forest, followed by a swift, blinding light. He was a timid-looking young man, who was out looking for a certain plant in the forest. His sister was ill, and this particular medicinal plant would help her.
Being naturally timid, he wanted to turn and run away...to flee from the noise. But, curiosity got the better of him, and he began to investigate, heading in that direction.

Rain slowly woke up as he started to wake up a few hours later. His body hurt everywhere. He lifted his hand up and felt a dry substance on the of his face and he lifted his hand to find it was dry blood. "CAN THIS GET ANY WORSE!" he screamed as he rolled around the grass. He slowly sat up but found that to be a mistake when he felt his eyes role in the back of his head and he felt back down. He looked around and realized that this wasn't normal anymore. He sighed as he looked around. He realized that he was no longer in Japan.
"What the hell is this place?" he asked as he held his head. He had a gash from when he landed on his head and it had stopped bleeding but it still hurt a lot. Not to mention that the blood lose had killed his strength. "Please...someone help...tell me where I am..." he whimpered as he curled in a ball as it started to rain. He didn't even have enough energy to move under the trees.

"...H...hello?"
The voice was small, barely audible. A few feet away, slightly visible, was a scholarly-looking young man, with blonde hair and dull gray eyes, like the color of silver. He didn't fit in in this forested area, so it was odd to see someone like him out here. He tripped over nothing a few times while he walked, nearly losing his balance and falling flat on his face.
"Is anyone...t-there?"

Rain looked up as he heard a small noise. He wasn't sure if it was a person or an animal but what ever it was he hoped it would just help stop the pain. He could feel the rain slowly soaking through his cloths and his body temperature slowly going down. His eyes fell on the man that started to walk towards him. He wondered who he was as he let his body slowly uncurl. His body shook from the effort of him trying to sit up. His arms gave out as he fell to the ground and just watched him. He coughed before speaking. "Please...Help me..." he whimpered as he lifted his hand out towards him. He could feel his eyes dropping and he felt his arm fall as his world started to become dark and he passed out from the pain and blood loss. He just hoped that whoever that was would help him. Or he might not wake up from this.

Unfortunately, the boy, a young teenager, was rather small and scrawny...once Rain collapsed and lost consciousness, he panicked, not sure what to do. He couldn't possibly lift the man up--there was too much of a size difference.
After a few moments of mindless babbling, the boy finally calmed down just a bit. He hooked his arms up under Rain and precariously began to drag him to a safe, dry place under a batch of trees, about a few feet away. He could do no more for him right now. He didn't want to leave him alone to go for help, lest some forest animals attack and eat him.
So, he settled for sitting with him, using the handkerchief he always kept with him to stop the bleeding.

It wasn't until the early morning that he started to awaken from his deep, much needed rest. His eyes slowly opened when he felt a cloth on his forehead. He lifted a shaky left hand and placed it on his forehead and the cloth. “How...” he started to say as he slowly lifted his body up into a sitting position. He wasn't sure what to expect now that he'd slept. He wondered if that boy had saved him or not. He was a little surprised when he realized that he was under a tree. He leaned back against him as he looked around again.

"You are awake?" A soft concerned little voice was calling him, from nearby. The boy he had seen earlier was close by, timidly keeping just a bit of distance between them. He had scuttled away slightly as soon as Rain awoke, fearing harm would come upon him.
"That's good. I thought that you had lost too much blood..."

He just watched him for a few minutes. "Hello....Yeah, I'm fine." he said as he looked at him a little worried. "I'm a little hungry." he said as he moved slightly away from a tree and held his head a little. He was a little anemic from the blood loss. Food and rest would help but it seemed like it was colder then the day before and it was getting close to winter. He heard horse hove on the ground and turned to his side to see a strong looking man sitting on top of a horse and looking down at the two.
"Are you two in need of some help?" he asked as he watched them. The one boy looked in bad shape but he wouldn't do anything without permission.

The timid boy jumped--he didn't like horses, seeing as he had had a bad experience with one in the past. He knew this man would recognize him, seeing as he knew him, just barely, from back in the village.
"I found him here," he explained, softly, meaning Rain. "He was injured...I treated him, but he needs bed rest and a good meal. I can't possibly take him back on my own, but I'm willing to take him home and treat him..."

The man smiled at the boys generosity. "That's great. I would love to help you." he said as he swung his leg over the side of the horse and slide off the side. He looked the man over. He really didn't look well. "Um, Do you think you can stand?" he asked as he held out his hand.
Rain held his hand up and took the other mans. He weakly struggled to get his body up and he helped him onto the horse. He was panting softly and his body shook as he leaned against the neck of the horse. He looked down the two men as his world started to spin.
The man held his back as he looked at the other man. "Can you get on the back. My horse can't handle the two of our weight but I need you to help him stay on the horse. I really don't want him falling off." he said as he looked at him then at the man on the horse worriedly.

The boy seemed terrified. "...I can walk alongside you, if you travel slowly. He's in no danger right now, so I believe it's fine..." he cajoled, gently. "I, erm...I'm terrified of riding horses, you see...I had a terrifying accident as a child..."
He shuffled over to the side of the horse, and held Rain's arm, securely and comfortably. He was making sure he would not fall off.

"Okay. I wont push it." he said as he held onto him. "You don't have to stand close. I'll hold him up and we'll walk slowly." he said as he smiled at him. He watched as Shou started to zone out and in a few times as he slowly started to walk. He was a little worried since it seemed his cloths were a little damp. "Has he been wet all night?" he asked as he looked at the other man. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lancelot. What's yours?" he asked.

The boy nodded--he was still terrified of being close to the horse. So, he kept a slight distance, but still managed to assist them. "My name? I'm Lawrence. Lawrence Marleigh...I live in town, over there..." He knew it sounded lame...but at the moment, he didn't care.
The Marleigh family was a well-liked family that lived in the town nearest here. Two children and a single father...Lawrence's mother had died in childbirth with his little sister. They were scholars by trade.

Rain could barely catch what they were saying. His body was shaking from the cold his body felt because of the fever that was raging through his body. His fingers tangled into the horse's hair that ran down the back of its neck. His dull eyes stared at the two as he caught every few words.
Time passed by and soon they were walking in the town. Lancelot looked at Rain and noticed that his eyes had closed and hadn't opened for a while. He walked closer and gently touched his neck noticing his pulse was a lot fainter then before and his skin wasn't as warm as it was supposed to. "I think I'll take him to the doctors. He's getting really bad." he said as he started to walk faster. He turned back Lawrence. "Of course he's still your charge till we find out what had happened to him, but I will still pay for the visit." he said with a smile. He walked passed the stores and the houses noticing the stairs from the people but he ignored it.

"Oh...no, no, you don't have to pay for it," Lawrence insisted, immediately feeling guilty. His family had little money, but he couldn't just let someone else pay for Rain's expenses. He found him...so he was Lawrence's responsibility.
Truthfully, he knew his family didn't have the money to pay for medical bills. His sick sister was proof of that. They couldn't even get her looked at properly by a doctor due to lack of funds...

Lancelot just ignored his comment as they found the doctor. He gently pulled Rain off the horse and Lancelot could feel his body flinch away from his touch. He frowned as he walked to the door. "Lets go in." he said as he frowned and walked up the few steps to the door. He walked in and looked over the doctor. "This young man had found this man laying in the forest. He's not looking to well and we were wondering if you could look him over." he said and the doctor nodded.
"Place him over there." The doctor instructed as he finished wrapping a gaping wound that was on the side of a young womans hand.
Lancelot placed Rain down on it and the doctor came over. He gently ran his fingers over his bed as he looked him over. "Wow. This man looks as if he's been in the rain most of the night. How did he get this wound?" he asked the two men and Lancelot only looked over at Lawrence.
