I haven't read the manga either, but from what I understand, the anime isn't very faithful. There's too much random humor and blatant yaoi vibes or something like that.
Also, the second season had more Grell, but it didn't really have a lot of substance. It didn't really have a bunch of cases to solve. It was all about souls and boring.
Yeah, the manga's very different from the anime. I think they started out the same, but then it just went waaaay off. I know at least that the detective arc never appeared in the seasons. And I know Sebastian did not fly onto a boat holding Ciel bridal-styled to kick Lao's ass via riding a cannonball in the manga either. (though it might appear in the later series, depending on how the mangaka wants it to go)
I don't really like the comedy bits in the anime. One fo the few things I don't like about it. I think I'll definitely read the manga now once I get the money to buy the books :)
I don't really like reading it online
Snake's awesome in his own right I guess. I was definitely happy to see Undertaker and Prince Soma and Agni's antics were great XD
SPOILERX
yea, the way he joined wasn't that great...though the way they showed Sebastian coming back to life was fun to read XD Undertaker was so funny: "I've never heard it ring before" XD 'Cause you've never tried to bury a demon before, love.
I had the most fun with the chapter before that though, where
SPOILERX
Sebastian had to run all over the place and get kicked in the face, stuff dead bodies into the closet, run through the ran and catch owls, piece together a glass vial in the mud, etc. etc......poor guy. He really has his work piled up for him. XD
ah yes, poor sebastian definitely has his work cut out for him XD
but I think, my favorite arc was still the circus arc, I mean it was mad twisted and all but the character designs were really nice.
@hillary84: I have to agree with you. I much preferred the first season of the anime. I felt the second season was a bit...iffy. It was okay just...not great for me.
Yeah, I liked the circus arc too, but not the ending so much. Too sad for my liking.
I'm glad I don't watch anime. :XD From what little I've seen of the Kuroshitsuji season 2 anime, I didn't like it.
Other than the parts where Grell appeared. :P
i absolutely love this anime. what's not to like about it? it's dark and scary, but completly funny, not to mention it has a sexy demon butler =^_^= i just recently found the manga, but havent gotten to read it tho. i'm looking forward to that for sure.
I wish they had taken the Circus arc from the manga and put it into the anime as well. That was one of my favorite arcs from the manga series that I would have loved to also have seen in the anime version.
I think it was because the anime got finished before the circus arc had been completed? *isn't too clear about when the anime had been released* But yeah, I like the circus arc too, it would've been neat if it could make it into the anime D:
Honestly. I haven't been able to get into a series in a long time, which led me to believe my interest in anime has faded greatly. I found this manga when I saw an icon of Grell and fell in love with the character, I did some research and found the series and fell in love with that as well. I found it back when Jack the ripper was being released in Japan, so I'm proud to say that I'm a long-term and very loyal fan.
I have all three volumes of the manga in English, and I'll be buying the anime when it's released, even though I don't like the English dub, but I'm going to buy it regardless. I also own many things from the series, my most prized possession is my Sebastian and Grell plushie.
I'm also a Grell and Sebastian cosplayer. I hope to be Pluto, Beast, Joker, Demon-Hannah, Canterbury, Alois and others eventually.
I'm such a dork. I could go on and on about this series. I just love it so much. ;w;
Well this is the perfect place for you to go on and on about the series! XD It's entirely dedicated to the series, after all. :3
I haven't been interested in getting myself into new series either, I'm kind of worried I'll never find any I'm interested in anymore, despite knowing that I love manga. The newer manga released these days just aren't catchy anymore. D:
I found out about Kuroshitsuju when a friend of mine and I were eating at a rental book store, she rented the first volume and read it, then gave it to me (as I'm a slow eater) while she went off to find more manga. I read it and at first was confused as hell with it because while the characters were pretty, I didn't see much of a story plot in it. Then came the second volume, and I picked up after that. Been following every chapter released.
I'm not a cosplayer, otherwise I'd definitely go for the Undertaker. xD
Oh boy. Constant jabbering about non-existant people. :D
I agree. New series are just repeats. You have to look really hard to find the good ones. Kuro was my rare jem. <3 I hope there are more series like this, but not entirely. Yana's other manga, Rust Blaster or whatever, is really good. I love Kain Van something. o 3o I have a feeling he was the inspiration for her to make Grell. And she made a Yaoi manga that I read...Oh boy was it Yaoi. -w- <3 And the last chapter, since there were five and all one shots, I believe was the prototype for Kuro, since there are a few similarities between the two, but it's not official. I know too much stuff. D:
I have a friend who is cosplaying the Undertaker. He's really good at it too. He's re-making his cosplay and it looks fantastic so far. Who knew you could make a great cosplay from sheets. xD Gotta love his resources. I also have a Ciel, two Sebastians, Madame Red, Angela/Ash, Claude, Alois, Hannah, another Grell, and Mey-Rin. I love my little Kuro family. c:
And this next convention I'm going to in January, I'm running the Kuro panel! It should be fun. Going to serve Earl Gray Tea and give out lollipops butler style. I just have so many ideas. >w<
Yeah, after Kuroshitsuji became a big hit, I noticed a lot of new manga coming out featuring butlers/masters...-.-;
I think I heard from my friend that the mangaka for Kuroshitsuji used to be a yaoi doujinshi artist before she did Kuro...
lol An Undertaker...made from sheets? XD Wow, wish I could see it. XDD
I've been seeing some pretty cool cosplays of Ciel and the others at conventions, a lot of people seem to really like cosplaying as girl-Ciel. Poor kid, considering how he hated it. XDDD
I'm glad Snake re-appeared, but I'm really suspicious of Ciel. He has something planned, I know it. And Ronald came back too! Now I'm just waiting for Grell because I remember Yana saying that the anime has inspired her to put Grell back in, but that was during the Circus Arc and still no Grell, other than just a sliver of his red hair and a brief mentioning of him. Boo.
And yes, I'm a huge Grell fan. <3 I would love to become an amazing cosplayer of him in the future...waaaaay future since it will be difficult to be him. His teeth are expensive...x___x But I have his wig, glasses, outfit, dangly glasses thing, and my friend is making me his chainsaw. ^^ And I need contacts too. Boo. He's so expensive. >w<
I believe that Yana was a yaoi artist as well. I don't mind. I love yaoi. o 3o And I recently got into that, too. At first I was like "...Nuu" then after awhile I dove right into it. I've become one of them. D:
I've seen a lot of Ciels as well, and his dress seems to be the most popular. But I've seen male versions, but most of them are traps! I've only met two male Ciels...And one of them is too tall so he doesn't look like Ciel at all. xD i actually have Ciel's jacket that I bought from this really fancy website. It's amazing and very accurate and detailed. So I'll be cosplaying as his Birthday version when I get the rest of his costume. x3
Snake's my favorite character aside from the Undertaker so far, though it's mainly because I love snakes. :XD; Kid's way too gullible though, considering how he just accepted Ciel's proposal like that...(though if he hadn't, he'd end up dead, so I guess that's not too bad compared to the other option :stare:)
Who's Ronald? :O
And lol! Yeah, I can see how Grell's teeth would be difficult. :XD
I don't mind yaoi, although there was a while that I got very annoyed with it because a classmate of mine from high school wouldn't stop talking about all her favorite pairings and showing me drawings of Harry and Draco together all the time.
lol Tall Ciel. I kind of wonder if he'd ever grow up in the manga...it's kind of hard to tell how much time has been passing in it between the arcs and stuff. I've seen a few Sebastians, although so far I've only seen one that was amazingly like the real one. His eyes were slanted like the Sebastian from the manga, he was wearing red contacts, and he had that smirking smile just perfect. Sadly, my horrible cellphone camera could only capture a bad-quality picture of him that was all blurry...:headdesk:
I love Kuro. It's kind of the only yaoi-ish manga I can stand, because it's actually got a great story and setting instead of the simple ol high school stuff, and it's not nearly as predictable. And yet the fanservice amount is equal! Yay!
Being a teeny asian person, I cosplay as ciel all the time. I made sure to make an outfit that you can't buy, which is the blue coat ensemble in episode 7, I think. The best part about it is that his coats are snazzy and wearable outside of conventions, unlike most other costumes, so I get way more use out of them. Totoro and all those costumes are fun, but I figure if you're gonna spend all that time making something you should wear it more than once or twice.
