(Alright I'll start)

----------

It was hard to believe she was about to scoop out the castle that had haunted her dreams for ages. She had passed the castle everyday to and from school. Never had she been inside or close enough to see it in detail. But after being dared to go inside by her group of friends, she couldn't have said yes faster.

They had been planning it for days now. And it was finally the night Belle had been looking forward to for days. Her group of five friends crept close to the main gate. It was bent slightly, cracked open. Belle touched the cold metal. A grin spread across her face. She slipped past the gate, catching her skirt on the metal. She groaned and ripped a little piece of the fabric.

"Nice one Belle." Her friend Jimmy whispered.

"Whatever. Hurry up or I'm going in without you."

Her friends slipped into the court yard. There was something about the castle that made Belle so curious, she just didn't know what it was. She had read everything she could about the castle. But never found anything on why it was empty, left to rot away. A while back some people were interested in fixing it up but after trying to get inside the castle, they stopped talking about fixing it up. In fact anyone who seemed to get close would never talk about it again. She didn't understand why. Some said it was haunted by the castle's owner. Others said a monster lived inside, waiting to kill anyone who entered his home. Of course Belle wasn't sure what the true reason was. All she knew was that she wanted inside.

They were careful not to make much noise. No one talked. Belle led the way up to the side of the castle. She noticed the front doors were shut. But there was a window that looked broken on the side. She slipped through the open window. A strong musty smell washed over her. She watched her friends struggle to get into the broken window.

"Oh my gosh I can't believe we got inside!" Her friend Maddie said. Her voice too loud.

Everyone shot her a glare. She became quiet. The hair on the back of Belle's neck rose. It felt like something was watching them. She moved around in awe at the castle. She couldn't believe her eyes. Everything was so nice. For the castle's age everything seemed okay. She stepped forward towards a table with a old dust covered vase.

The floor crashed in under her foot. She yelped loudly as her foot went into the floor. She tugged on her foot. Panic flooded into her. Maddie rushed over to her side, trying to help her. It was no use her foot was really caught.

The beast wondered his halls, quiet like a mouse and watched the dust come up. He had gotten use to the quietness that filled the house. The sound of the outside world could be heard but he payed no attention to it. That world that had changed so much that there was no place for him. He stayed in his castle, they stayed away. If anyone decided to come close he would make sure that they would regret it. But tonight there was something different. There was a feeling and it wasn't good, it usually meant that someone was going to come.

He then heard whispers and people talking. A growl formed in his throat and he started to make his way threw his castle, someone or some people where in his home. The only safe place for him, no one was to be in here, no one. He was on all fours, the only way he walked anymore. They pounded the floor silently, puffs of dust surrounded him. the dust settled in his fur and he had to force himself not to sneeze. But soon he caught the sent of people, humans where in his house. A deeper growl came from throat as he watched them from the upper flour.

There where only a few of them, not like the construction crew that came. It will be easier to scare them off then the other time. His fur stood on end as he slowly started to creep down to there leave. He stuck his claws into the pillar that lead down to them and slowly started to slide down. The screech that came from his claws filled the room and he growled loudly when he saw there eyes turn to him.

He came towards them and growled more. "LEAVE THIS PLACE." he roared at them as he got close. He wasn't in the mood for them to be here. They where trespassing in his territory, the only place that he could be without being criticized. If they stayed he would imprison them, his prison was still intact and he would use it. He didn't care if people came for them, he would keep them here.

He glared at them all and then looked at the window. He should of covered up that whole before any of these people came, they would only continue to come in here. If he didn't cover it up more would come, sooner or later they would come to kill him. He had to do everything he could to make sure that never happened.

Belle's head swung around. Her eyes went wide, not with fear but with wonder. What was the creature that was standing so close she could smell it. She shuddered when it spoke. Her friends ran from the scene and darted out the window. Maddie left her side, leaving her alone. She tugged on her foot again. It was still stuck. She kept her eyes on the creature.

She shivered. She wasn't afraid, oh no. She just didn't like the fact she was stuck and it was not. Before he father had fallen ill he had hunted bears. She had gone along with him a few times. This was not a bear. Her eyes scanned the creature. Her mind was trying to figure out what it was. Maybe if she had a name to call she could figure out what would make it back off a bit.

She noticed it's eyes looked almost human. She stared at the beast wondering. She slammed her fists into the floor, trying to see if noise would scare it off. It didn't work. She tugged on her leg again. She bent down, looking at the hole. A piece of wood had snapped and cut into her ankle. She could see a large bruise starting to form on her leg.

"I'm stuck..." She muttered quietly.

She wondered if the creature could even hear her. That was if it could understand her. She sighed, holding her hand against the cut. she struggled to removed the piece of wood from her leg. Her boot was caught on the fallen piece of wood. She felt the floor move slightly under her. She became worried it would fall in all around her.

The beast watched them all run and was about to go when he saw that one last girl was still here. He growled at her and started to circle her, wondering if she was just being stupid or something. The noise that her fists made against the floor was annoying and only that. It would never scare him off, only guns or something would make him run and even then it was rare. Then her words hit his ears and he looked down at her leg. She had been standing at the worst part of the floor threw the whole entire house. He should of replaced is sooner rather then laster.

"hold still, you will only make it worse." his voice was gruff and he moved towards her. The sent of blood struck him when he got closer to it and he knew that the wood had cut her. With gentle hands he touched her leg and then with the other he broke the board that was cutting into her leg. Gently he pulled her leg up and laid it down on the ground so that no further damage could come to it. Blood still seeped out of the wound and he ripped a piece of his pants. He wrapped it around the wound and then looked at her.

"That should hold, now get out." he said as he stood up on his hind legs. He looked a little more human as he did but at the same time he looked unreal. He was a monster out of a fairy tale, he was the thing that scared these people for centuries. He turned his back to her and started to walk away. Then when he stopped at the door and turned back to look at her. "Don't come back here, if you do I cant say I will be happy to see you." he said as he looked at her.

As he looked back at her he found himself thinking of the girl. The girl he thought might break this dreadful curse that had plagued him for longer them most people have been alive. But she had disappeared along with all his hopes and dreams. HIs hope that he might be able to be human again. But he was always going to be like this. He would watch the world change from his window and see how everything has changed.

Belle stared at the beast as he helped her. He helped her. She was frozen, not sure how to react towards the creature...no the person in front of her. She stood, glad she didn't feel too much pain. She was used to getting scraps and cuts when she was out chasing down stories.

"Thank you."

She didn't need to say it. She could of have just left but something told her to stay. She moved towards the window. Then stopped and turned around. Her eyes glued to the person. She bit down on her lip and walked forward. She removed her rose shaped hair clip and left it at the bottom of the stairs.

Roses had always been her favorite flower. It sadly didn't grow well in the area she lived and they rarely sold them at the market. She looked back once more and slipped out the window. Everything in her told her to stay and see what would happen next. She had so many questions flooding her mind.

What was he?

Who was he?

Why was he there?

She sighed and headed home. He house was small. It was really more of a shack then a house but it was home. It was a two bedroom house with a over grown front yard. Large trees grew all around the house. No one lived close to them. The house had been passed down tho their family for years. She pushed opened the front door.

"Dad?"

She peeked into his room. He was sleeping soundly. Safe and still alive. She shut the door softly and went into her room. She walked over to her dresser and picked up a picture frame. Her mother had been beautiful. But she could no longer remember her voice. She was long gone. She set down the frame and sat on her bed. She took off her boots and frowned.

Her cell phone was gone.

She always left it in her boot. She gasped, staring out the window. She had left it in the castle. It must have fallen out when her leg had got caught. She sat on her bed, looking down at the cloth that covered her wound. Now she had reason to go back. She grinned and plopped down onto her bed, closing her eyes.

The beast was surprised when he didn't see her scramble out of the window right away. But instead he watched her place a hair clip on the bottom of the stair case. He then watched her go out the window and run into the darkness that was the night. The only time he moved was when he was sure that she was gone. Then he headed down and to go look at the clip. He picked it up as gently as he could and looked at it. It was so small in his gorilla sized hands and it looked so delicate. He started to lead out of there and up stairs. His body moved on its down as he looked at the clip. He had forgotten about things like this but the way it looked was amazing. He hardly let himself get involved with the new world. But the way this was shaped was amazing.

He opened the door to the upper part of the castle. There was a garden that looked fruitful and moonlight showed in from the windows that where all around the room. His stepped where loud as he walked over to a rose bush he kept. It was beautiful and he gently laid the clip next to it. He watched it and then headed out of there. Right before he was out of the room he grabbed a apple. he started to eat it and headed downstairs. He had to rebuild the floor and block the window. But first he had to figure out which boards needed to be replaced.

He headed down stairs and walked over to the break in the floor. As he got closer he saw something flashing in the moonlight, it was small and like nothing he had ever seen. He reached out and took it into his hands gently. It was weird and he wondered what it was. Gently he picked it up and ran a thumb over it. It was so smooth, it was like a plate or something. His claw then caught on the edge and flipped up the phone open. It glowed and he nearly dropped it form the shock of how bright it was. He then got use to it and looked at it. It was like nothing he had ever seen and he didn't want to get involved with new world things. He closed it and walked over to the table. He set it down gently and then headed over to the boards. They had to be fixed now and that was what he spend most of his night doing.

Once he finished smoothing the floor and making sure that it was completely done. He then slowly made his way to his room. it was filled with destroyed furniture and paintings. He wanted to keep this room as a reminder of what he had done and what he was capable of doing. HIs bed was a little destroyed but that was how he liked it. Slowly he climbed into bed and curled up into a ball, sleep slowly took over and he was out for the rest of the night.

School was always a pain for Belle. She was too smart and it was hard to hide it. She was ahead of her classes and everyone else her age. She was known as a trouble maker to her fellow students but all the teachers knew she was something more. As soon as school ended she ditched her friends, who had ditched her the night before and ran to the castle.

Her dark blue dress fluttered around her as she ran up to the gate. She slipped through the gate. She moved slowly and quietly. A part of her wanted to see the beast again but a part of her didn't. She had thought of nothing more then the castle the whole day at school. She had written up a list of questions to ask the beast.

She just hoped he would answer them. She made her way to the window. It was blocked form the inside. She cussed and kept walking, in search for another window. After traveling half way around the castle she gave up and made her way back to the front doors. She crossed her arms and sighed. Just opening it would too easy. There had to be catch. There was no way the doors were unlocked.

She reached out and touched the hard wooden doors. The handle was a tarnished gold. She wondered what it had looked like when it was new and polished. Belle leaned against the doors. To her surprise one of them opened, dropping her inside. She quickly stood up and glanced around.

No one was in sight. Her heart raced from the building excitement. She walked over to the spot she had fallen in the night before. To her surprise it had been fixed. She turned, placing her hands on her hips.

"Now what?" She whispered.

It had to be around there somewhere. She turned around slowly in a circle, looking for her silver phone. She walked over to the table and grinned. She picked up the phone and placed it in her bag. She wanted to explore. Belle glanced around again and started up the stairs.

The beast was fast asleep for most of the day but woke up a little while after the sun came up. He then headed to his garden and grabbed some of the food he had growing. This was the only way he was able to live without having to go outside at all. He headed to the kitchen and made a small something with the fruit and vegetables and started to eat it. It was quiet and he found himself wondering about the girl. She had seemed a bit odd, different then the others that came. But she was a outside and he didn't want outsiders in here.

He then headed into his library and pulled out some of his favorite books. It was old and looked to be something that people would want in a museum. But to him it was his, it wasn't old and it was something he used on a daily basis. He sat dow in a chair and started to read it. Time went by fast and soon he found himself not reading at all but thinking of that girl. He shook his head and tried to stop thinking about her. She was nothing, she wouldn't' come back, she would know better.

Once he put away his book he started to wonder around his castle, it was something he liked to do and this way he found what he had to repair. But as he walked he heard something, a bang of some sorts and he knew something was going to happen. A small growl formed in his throat and he made his way down to the front door. But whoever had been there was gone, but not there sent.

But the sent was from that girl, what would she be doing here. He had warned her not to come back here at all and that he wouldn't' be happy. yet he was happy and anger at the same time. He followed the sent into room she had broken into the night before and he knew that she would be here. He then followed the sent to the stairs and saw her.

"I thought I told you to stay away." he growled softly as he looked at her. He walked towards her and was on all fours again. He wasn't in the mood to having uninvited company and everyone was uninvited. No one was allowed to stay or be here besides him. His feet sent up dust that was left on the floor and coated his fur as he walked towards her.

"Busted!" She chuckled.

She backed up slowly, careful not to trip down the stairs. She watched the beast in awe. She noticed he could walk on two legs and four. It was very interesting. She stood her ground and crossed her arms. She wasn't afraid or at least she wasn't about to let him think she was afraid. She smiled and rocked on the heels on her feet.

"If you don't like guests...then why is the front doors unlocked? I mean the door just opened for me. So I came in."

She liked being inside the castle. It felt cool to stand in a historical place without having a tour guide blab on and on about random events that happen. Her cell phone buzzed, playing a song. She opened her bag and took it out. "Thanks for saving this." She said, pointing to the phone.

She looked at who was calling and ignored it. She was much more focused on the large beast in front of her.

The beast growled as he looked at her and then pushed off the ground his his hands and stood on his hind legs. "I never locked it because I never thought that I would need to." he said gruffly as he cross his arms across his chest. He wished that she would jut take that glowing thing and leave. "and I never locked it because in my time people actually understood bounderies and properties unlike you." he said as he looked at her.

When he heard the song he jumped slightly and fell to all fours. He growled at it for a second but when he saw that it was the glowing thing he just shrugged. "Now that you have that you go, I dont have need to you or that glowing thing." he said as he turned and started to walk away from her. He didn't care for her and wanted her to leave. His claws made a clicking sound on the floor as he walked, it was the sound a dog made when they walked.

He headed towards his library and just wanted to find some piece and quiet. The library was where he always went if he wanted to have some piece and quiet. It was the place that head the few memories he had left and the one place that he liked the most. Then he headed to where his favorite section was and hoped that that girl was gone now.

Belle laughed. "It's a cell phone and we lock our doors nowadays...." She watched him with curious eyes. There was something so human about him she wondered if he had been some type of experiment or an escaped mutant of some sort. Her eyes light up and she followed behind him.

"I don't feel like leaving."

Her eyes lit up when she saw the library. "No way! This is great!" She darted passed him and went straight to a book shelf. Her fingers tapped against the books. She smiled at them and scanned over the titles. "Oh my gosh these books are so rare." She gasped and picked up a book. "I've been looking for this book everywhere! No one has it online or even at a used book store."

She sat down, crossing her lean legs. She flipped open the book and skimmed it over. She had forgot all about the big beast. In fact she had already started to read the book. Her face became emotionless and she ignored all sounds.

The beast growled when he heard her and wished that she would just leave him be. She was begining to be a annoyance to him and he just wanted to be alone. But when he was about to turn and tell her again to leave she rushed passed him and picked one of his favorite books. She seemed to be a a book lover just like he was and he walked over to her.

She reminded him of how he use to be when he first got his hands on that books. He had sat at the exact place where she was sitting and read till he had to go to bed. But then that was when he was still human and things had changed slightly since then. "so your time period still knows of this auther." he said to himselfsince he was sure that the would of forgotten him. But it appeared that they still like his work.

"you know I actually remember when that book first came out. I was just a little boy but I enjoyed reading every inch of that book." he said as he started to go over to another section in his library. If she didn't intendto leave and was makingherself at home he might as well try to be nice. "just be careful of that book, it is older then you." he called to her as he looked around.

Belle glanced up at him and smiled. "Most people don't know of the author's works but I'm a fan all types of books. I love his the best. They are enchanting and just too interesting to put down. My mom used to read me this book when I was little. I guess that's why I like it so much."

She frowned and gently shut the book. She placed it on her lap and pulled the list of questions form her bag. "I have some questions for you. Did you own this castle? Like how long ago did you move in? What's your name? And mos importantly, what are you?" She asked. She wasn't about to sugar coat all her questions. She wanted to know. At times her need to know things often got her in trouble but for some odd reason she didn't fear the man before her.

The beast smiled when he heard her, "you and your mother have good taste." was all he said and was glad that she had heard these when she was little. Most people didn't care about his work but she had It right about his work being enchanting. But his happiness was gone when he heard the questions and knew they where coming.

"I knew these questions would come so I might as well answer them. Yes I do own this house and I didn't move in. I have lived here for a few centuries. If you need a year the only way I would say is that I was born before that book in your lap was made." he said as he walked over to her and sat down on a chair near her. It had been a while since he talked to anyone but talking ti her was nice. " and in truth ihave forgotten my name. So I just go by what I look like, I am the beast." he said as he looked at her and wondered whar she would say.

"Hm...This book is really old. How can you be so old? So...This castle is yours. Well, that's interesting. What is it like? To be the way you are?" She stood up and gently placed the book back on the shelf. She glanced around. "Why are by yourself? Isn't it lonely? I hate being by myself. Hey!" She turned to face him. "Can you show me around? I've always wanted to know what the inside of the castle looked like." She asked.

She bashed her long lashes at him and smiled softly. "And if you do show me around just once...I won't come back if that's what you want." She wasn't about to give up the chance of finally seeing the castle. One thing she had gotten good at over the years was lying. In fact she had just told a lie. She would keep coming back until she had every single question that popped into her head answered.

The beast sighed as he listened to her and looked at her, "I am old because of how I look. It is part of bow things are for me. As long as I look like this I continue to live." he said as he looked at her and then smirked, "and to be a beast it is lonely. But you leanr to live with it. Lonelyness becomes your companion as the decades go by." he said as he looked at her. He then stood up and nodded, "if you really want me to show you around I will." he said and started to head out of there.

"if I do this you better not come back, I like to stay alone." he said but had a feeling she wouldn't keep that pro
ise. But just incase he would lock the door. No one would come I to hiscastle again. She wouldbe the last and he f
would finally be alone. He could finally go back to what he was doing before, watching the world go by him.

"Alright!" She jumped up and laughed. She pointed towards the stairs. "Upstairs first! You have no idea how many times I've stood outside looking up at the castle wondering what was upstairs. This is so cool!" She exclaimed. She remembered walking past the castle once with her mother. Her mother had stopped and told her the castle was a hidden gem protected by years of silly stories. And that she hoped it would stay there forever.

She had hoped so too. Belle turned sharply and looked the beast in the eye. "My name is Belle by the way." She turned and started to head towards the stairs. She gently touched the railing. "So I was wondering...What are your reasons I can't come back? What if I only come to read? I can never find a good quiet spot to read."

-I'm going to hit the hay. I'll on tomorrow.-

The beast sighed as he heard her and shook his head. Why had he agreed to show her around? she was just going to be a pest and annoy him to death. He was about to walk up the stir when Belle turned and looked at him in the eyes he was slightly surprised. Most people just wanted to look away from him and never speak to him again, but not her. When he heard her name he couldn't help but think of the girl that had been here.

He looked at her heading towards the stairs and smirked, "I dont like anyone coming in here. The last time I ended up letting someone in she left and never returned." he said as he started to head up up the stairs. When he got to the top he looked down at her, "and I also dont trust you. For all I know you might bring the police or hunters to kill me." he said as he waited for her to come after him.

"Pft! Police and hunters. No. Then I couldn't come back. I don't like the police anyway. Let's just say we don't get along very well." She winked at him and kept going up the stairs. She paused at a window and looked outside. "I didn't know there was a garden here. Is that were you get all your food?" She placed her hand on the window and gently traced the pattern on the window.

"So...This is other girl. Why didn't she come back? Did you want her to stay?" She asked, feeling her face heat up. She leaned against the wall and crossed her arms over her chest. If he had let someone stay before...was it possible she could stay too? She wondered what the other girl looked like. She felt bad for the beast having to be all alone for so many years.
