I was surprised to see that there isn't a thread for this movie yet! I'd really like to get other people's thoughts on the film. Let's discuss such things as your opinion of the movie, the soundtrack, the concept, and the ending. If you haven't seen the movie maybe you can explain whether or not you want to see it and why.
For those who have seen the movie but found it a bit confusing, I found this poster that explains the jumps they make during the mission. For those who haven't seen it yet, be warned, this section contains spoilers!
SPOILERX
I personally LOVE the film. I've watched it at least twice now since I saw it in theaters and plan to watch it again soon in French. All of the actors played their roles very well and the movie leaves you in suspense until the very end, and arguably even after the credits have rolled. I also find the soundtrack to be AMAZING. Hans Zimmer is probably my all time favorite composer. The concept of the dream world is very interesting and I would love to start a roleplay based on the concepts of the movie if anyone is interested. As for the ending, I'd personally like to believe that it's real.
Now tell me what you think!

As the old thread's last post have been quite some time ago, this thread could stay up here as a separate and new thread. No worries about that.
I'll add that to my "crap to not report" list, then. I thought there wasn't much of a necroing rule in media since it moves at about the speed of continental drift.
I actually watched the movie 3 times in the movies! O.O And twice on the same day for the first and second time!
I think the first time I watched it was to watch it. The 2nd time, I watched it to understand what I missed from the first time and when I watched it for the third time, I just wanted to look at Arthur! XD
Every time, I watch the movie now, I just rewatch scenes where Joseph Gordon-Levitt are in. I know I sound pretty much like a brainless bimbo but the story d id get boring after watching it 3 times!
Well, I found the wife really scary O.o I found the scene where they went into the elevator and she stared up at them when they were going back up, her stare was freakish!
Well basically now, the whole movie to me was... 'Arthur' ^^"

I second this! But I still want to know about the end... Did it fall?!
@ Pancake: Wow! I would have loved to see it again in theaters but unfortunately the movies can get pretty expensive so I usually only see things once in theaters if I'm lucky.
I don't blame you for watching it just for the scenes with Aurthur, he does look really good in the movie. I particularly like the scene with the grenade launcher. ^^;
And the wife was really creepy, especially in that camera shot you're referring to. I kinda feel bad for the actress that played her because she never really had any real life scenes. You only see her in dreams or memories and she's made out to be rather psychotic throughout the majority of the movie. >.<
@ Carzeebear: I think it does. It doesn't it show it happening though so you have to take for it what you will. My fiance read some things though in an interview with the actor who plays the grandfather and he explains that his character never appears in any of the dreams so the fact that his character is present in the end symbolizes that it's reality. You can take what you will from that though. ^_^
Limbo isn't everyone's dream, it's only the same for those who are dreaming together. Or at least that's what I got out of Arthur's explanation. Both times we see limbo, it was Cobb's limbo so it looks the same. But if it was say Arthur and Ariadane in Limbo, it would be a clean slate.
Hmm, isn't it described as "unstructured dream space"? I see that as it's the dream of whoever has been there, and as only really Mal and Cob have ever been there as far as we know, then it would be everyone's. Wouldn't it? See, I reckon that it's always there, and only changes when it is changed, so (using your example) if Arthur and Ariadne turned up, it'd be as seen in the movie, but they could change it, as could anyone else who was there. Does that make sense to anyone but me?
What you're saying makes sense but the way that Arthur explained limbo is that it's the unconstructed dream space in the mind of the dreamer. And he explains that if they fall into limbo, they'll fall into Cobbs dream space because they're sharing the dream with him. It might just be me but he made it seem like limbo is different for each person who goes down into it. The changes they make to their own limbo stay if they go back down to it but if they go there for the first time without someone who's already been there to make something, I think all that would be there would be the beach.
The part where Arthur explains it is right after they get into the warehouse after just going down into the first level of the dream and discovering that Fisher's been trained.
Using Cobb's inception on Mal isn't a good way to define the rules and workings of limbo, since there are too many variables. Here are a couple big ones:
1) Cobb would've had intimate knowledge of Mal's totem, which means regardless of his dream, her dream or "shared dreamspace" he would still have the knowledge and capability of making it do whatever.
2) The whole point of the first inception was for him to convince her they were in a dream, which means we don't even know if that was Mal's actual totem he used to incite her to realize they were dreaming, since everything is so very, very metaphorical. The whole point of inception is to place an idea that wasn't there to begin with, so honesty is not a requirement.
3) Limbo is so loosely and poorly defined in and of itself that it's irresponsible to try to use it as a barometer to determine rules for the structured dreamspace, and to even assume that the same rules apply in both places.
