Maybe because the written (or typed, for that matter) word isn't accompanied by the vocal tone that gives us half of the real meaning of a statement, and it could be taken as a "Yeesh people stop trying that avatar isn't worth it" call.

I'll vote for it this time though, I swear! I just keep forgetting to vote... :sweat:

I realize how it could not be mean, but its also a statement that sounds mean because of what its implying. Were I an user and have had my avi nominated a few times and never won, and someone pointed it out and laughed about it, I would be very hurt by it.

And yes, just what Kah, said. :yes: Thats just what it sounds like. Seems like she's saying that its pointless to nominate it because it'll never win.

I know monstahh well enough to know she didn't mean it in a mean way. But the word choice wasn't the best, I dont think. And it could be hurtful to Voe

But I didn't think anyone else liked it half as much as I do.
So I was shocked when someone else nominated it.
It's a round about compliment, but not really an insult, I don't think it had a mean tone.

If it had a mean tone, I would have been rolling my eyes and just staying don't bother.

It wasn't a bad experience but there were parts that hurt and since he said to raise my hand if I felt pain I raised it like 4 times. My mom later told me "You should have smacked him in the head, he would have reacted faster" :rofl: And I wanted but it doesn't seem like a good idea if he's the one looking around with a pointy hook into my mouth, haha~ My mom is going for something like your problem, she's had everything in the dentists menu, from braces to dental implants and all in between, so I have an idea of how horrible it must hurt :S

It's bad enough that I do misphrase things all the time, and am constantly in a state of apology. But I really don't think in context, it was entirely a rude thing to say. I was happily surprised.

Yes, it's the root canal. My tooth still hurts despite chugging the prescription ibuprofen.
My dentist was pretty good about it though. I had to get 4 shots the first day to numb my tooth completely. But yesterday I only got two, and it didn't hurt nearly as bad (probably because most of the pulp and stuff had already been removed).
But today uuuhg my jaw hurts like hell. D:

Edit: And besides, if we're going to argue semantics, what Suona said about me could be taken as an insult. :P So I think we're even.

I think people are a little too oversensitive these days.

@Kiako: I'd say the percentage of nice people here is about 99%. You'll always get that small percentage of people who are rude or like to troll others for kicks. Not everyone is perfect, but this is still the friendliest community I've ever been to. (I don't know why I ever left it :ninja:)

@neller: I wish I could refer someone here. I tried it with two friends of mine, but they just shrugged it off and called Mene "just another Gaia", so they didn't see the point. >_>

If I wasn't so worried about privacy invasion, I would invite a couple family members. At first I thought that, say, my mom would like to try out a place like this. I have no secrets to keep from her on here, but she's good at spying and would just ask me small questions about every little thing (not so much regarding how to use the site because I would help her with that) and I don't want to go through that. xD

As for the mis-communication of words, don't be annoyed Monstahh. I could tell right away what you meant, but apparently Suona didn't read it that way. There's no problem either way. You've already made a good reason as to why you stated that, so don't let it bother you.

Being annoyed and continuing to defend yourself when you've done nothing wrong looks kinda bad because it's as if you did do something wrong, so just let the breeze flow on by.

The problem with text is that it can be so easy to be taken out of context. Like Kah said, even emotes can only get you so far since sarcasm can even be seen in emotes.

I've had 3 of my friends join menewsha...but no one's actually stayed, sadly. But I think out of everyone who would stay, it would be my friend. I just want to get at least one person to stay active on mene. It's such an amazing site.

Zazabar stayed for a while, but, he doesn't like where the site is going, so he quit.
I still have some hope for it, though.
