Tracing is actually a good way to learn to draw better. :P
But just referencing things can be just as good too.
As long as you say that you used something as a reference.

Kah - Maybe, I don't react as severely to products that are very well washed, but I think it's part of it.

I dont trace at all, and I dont ever plan to. I learn by looking at things and drawing them like I see them and working it out on my own. So I take it as a serious offense if they tell me I traced it.

And yeah, I had said it in that it was drawn from a screenshot that I used as the reference. Just didn't link it straight to the screenshot, because I had no idea where it was. Just had had it saved on my computer by then. lol

Yeah, you can report for spam or block the user.

Those comments are on another persons picture, though, because they colored the thing i'd drawn and linked it to me. The person commented on their image and said:

I'd say you should report them, you didn't claim it was your original work, and they can't prove if you traced it or not.

Well, you'd even think that by looking at my other stuff they would be able to tell I didn't trace. I mean, I've done a bunch of mimic stuff, and you can see flaws in each of them. Why they suddenly single that one out and say its traced, I dont know.

I dont see why they'd be trolling. :/ It looks like they're a good artist with lots of pieces up. They wouldn't really have a reason to be a troll, I dont think.

The only thing you can do, Suona, is in the comments for the image you made write, "referenced off of a screen shot from (x)".

That's fair use.

Even if you didn't trace it and only referenced it, if it's close enough that an overlay works, that's close to what's called 'sight copying'. But if you state that you used it as reference, you're fairly bullet proof.

I did say it was a reference, just didn't put up an original because I didn't have access to the one i'd used. Didn't know where to find it by then. And i'm stubborn to want to wait a little while for this person to shut up before I put it in there, because then they'll be rude and act like they "won" or something. :roll:

Thank you, though. I'll probably keep track of the image and put it up. Or maybe save it from the one they linked me, and put it on tinypic, that way I feel less like it was because of them. xP;;

My dad loves those, too, and I think they have good taste and flavor. They're more filling than the usual chips. Feels like you're eating more, instead of the light fluffy ones that you could eat a ton and feel like you've gotten nowhere with them. lol
