The tell-tale screeching, screaming and other sounds filled the night sky, reaching the ears of a perched figure on the roof. A hood covered its face and claws helped keep it steady, open and perched legs ready to pounce when it deemed necessary. With how big the hoodie was - she could pass for a boy... And had been for quite a while now. The growls she made, everything else; mirror copy of a boy. She didnt exactly want male Hunters dive bombing her from every side screaming MATE. Shivering, she just stayed there, watching the night's festivities.

There was not much happening tonight. Most of the Infected in this area had either moved on or fallen over and died from starvation. There were gunshots in the distance only, and they sounded like they were quite a ways away. The Common Infected, of course, were dumb as rocks...they did not realize that the sound of those gunshots screamed FOOD.

The Specials, however, were keen to realize this. Most of them, anyway. The faint gunshots drove one of these Specials out of hiding with a few loud yawns and snuffling sniffing sounds.

He was a Hunter. Mind you not a giant, overly-muscled Hunter like most of the males were. He was lean and slender, quite light. This made him a rapid sprinter and a crazy jumper. He was too tired to display his skills, though.

He sat on the roof of the building across from the female Hunter, completely unaware that she was there. Hunters usually did not mind each other unless food was nearby...then they got territorial.

Emilie - as the Hunter called herself, the last shred of her humanity that she absolutely clung to with every fiber of her being and wouldnt let go of - just ignored the other male. She was hellbent to be known as a male hunter and that's how it'd stay... unless she'd get into a fight... then they'd grab something and possibly go dumbfounded for a few minutes. Then it'd get hilarious. Though she did glance at him from time to time, her brown eyes taking in his form.

The male Hunter did not remember his name. He only remembered one thing about his past, and that was that he had to find his cousin. He and his cousin, who was just a little bit younger than he was, had been having a sleepover when they were attacked...the Hunter was out for days, and when he woke up Infected his cousin was nowhere to be found.

He did not remember what had happened to them. He only knew that he had to find this cousin of his no matter what. He had the boy's scent memorized in his head.

There was a zipped-up pocket on the front of his light blue hoodie that held his wallet. He of course did not know this. Since it was zipped up, it had not fallen out yet.

If Emilie had family - it was beyond her. She had no idea. She couldnt remember much of her life before. Small glimmers, smells, sounds... they'd bring back an old, familiar feeling but that was it. As much as she tried to cling to it - it'd go away that much faster, leaving her cold.

So she gave up trying to remember. Some memories weren't meant to be remembered, that's how she looked at it. If she was meant to remember - they'd come back when they were ready... unless the Green Flu took it all away... The overwhelming sadness she felt sometimes washed up to her and surrounded her again, making her want to dive off the building... and not land on her feet.

But she couldnt. Emilie didnt feel like kicking the bucket just yet. When she thought her time was there - she'd do it. But not yet.

The male Hunter suddenly sniffed and let out a growl, turning in her direction and lowering himself into a crouching position in case he had to pounce. He had smelled her, finally--his weariness had faded away. He didn't appear to be too happy to see her. Though there was no food in the area, this Hunter was a loner, purely for the fact that he couldn't stand skirmishes for leadership. He was in charge if he had no one to try and boss him around.

He made a few cat-like clicking sounds in her direction. They were curious sounds, but still a little wary.

Emilie had to turn her head toward his direction and let out a growl right back at him. She didnt understand what he was so upset for, but Emilie didnt care. She didnt exactly enjoy being prompted to a fight. But she wouldnt attack unless this boy attacked first, and then it'd be on. But until then, she lowered herself in a crouching position and waited for him to make another move.

The male held his position for just a while before snorting and backing off. Something smelled off about this other Hunter, he reasoned...and if this Hunter was sick he didn't want to contract the sickness himself. He had met other Hunters before that had been stricken with rabies from eating rabies-infected animals. That was another reason he steered clear of other Hunters.

He laid himself down on the roof, listening for more gunshots in the distance. He perked up every time he heard one. He had survived recently by eating animals and even Common Infected when he was hungry. Those gunshots were tempting him.

Finally, he budged up from his position on the roof and leaned back, legs coiled. He pounced, landing on the building closest to him, and began to trot at a steady pace towards the sound of gunfire. Fresh food was sure to be there.

Emilie was glad the other hunter backed down, for she felt the same way. If the fellow Hunter was sick - she wanted to stay as far away as possible. And just like him - she, too, had met Hunters that were stricken with disease's of all sorts, not just rabies from getting too hungry.

She shook her head. This is what happened when the Infected population skyrocketed and there wasnt enough humans to last. Gunshots rang out and Emilie blinked. If those came from humans... she hoped they took down at least a bit of Infected with them.

Not noticing the other Hunter move - she jumped into the air and landed on the nearest building, staying to the sky as she just watched a group of humans back-to-back and kill Infected left and right. She rose an eyebrow.

The other Hunter licked at his chops expectantly. He was on the opposite side of of the building the female Hunter was on, and he had noticed she was following him. He had been Infected for quite a while and was in tune with his Hunter senses. He had never formed a pack with other Hunters, though...he'd always been a loner. He hadn't even wanted to seek out a mate.

He sized up the humans as they moved, and was pleased to see that two of them were lagging behind. One was perfectly healthy, but he wouldn't leave the other, who had a serious leg injury that was poorly wrapped up. The one with the leg injury was lagging behind like crazy...that was his target.

He stole a glance at the other Hunter and waited for her to notice him. If they both pounced together and each took one of the two lagging behind, there was a chance the rest of the group wouldn't notice and they could both go their own ways.

Emilie tilted her head, watching the people below. It should have been a buddy system - all of them helping the injured one to safety first, that way - they stayed together, not apart. But no - humans werent that smart - not anymore. Their actions were based off of pure and utter panic. Nothing more nor less. Shaking her head, she glanced over at the male hunter, wondering what he was thinking.

She -like him- had been infected for quite a while. But before that - she put up a damn good fight against the very thing she'd become. When it first hit - she had been healthy as she could be. Her and her brother back-to-backed a lot, taking out Hunters, and Chargers and all kinds of other infected with their group. But all good things came to an end eventually. Shaking her head - she shook out what little memories she had of what happened before and targeted the other one.

Emilie noticed him, alright. She nodded over at him and got ready to pounce when he did. Crouching lower, she tensed up and got ready to jump.

When the Hunter finally pounced, his legs coiled up tightly and then released like two giant springs. He tackled the injured human to the ground, biting on his lip firmly to suppress the primal howl that wanted to rip its way through his throat. That would give his position away to the other humans. With his target down, he proceeded to tear at the injured human's chest, sides, and stomach...hoping to kill first before he dragged his meal away.

He was a very effective killer despite his size. His claws were quite sharp and they did not hesitate to bite into flesh at all...his wiry frame was not a disadvantage, considering he could move at very quick speeds.

Despite his being smaller than the average Hunter, the human had had tackled to the ground was not able to push him off. Soon, the injured human had no choice but to succumb to his wounds, eyes going hazy and dark and cries for help dying out. It hadn't taken long, either...the Hunter had really ripped into this human.

He sank his teeth into the neck of his dead quarry and held the rest of the body with his arms. He tensed again and leaped back up to the building he had been on, backing away from the possible line of fire of the humans to start on his meal.

Emilie followed his example, springing down and landing harshly onto her victim. Though she had a different way of killing her human than the male Hunter. Emilie's hand went over his mouth and her fangs tore his throat clean out. She was a hunter - true, but her primal instincts were much more suppressed than His were. She proved that by grabbing him by the neck and springing away to drag the prize away without the temptation to howl or anything.

Emilie's size - well it was mostly misunderstood due to the overly large hoodie that she wore, giving the appearance that she was bigger than what she was. Really - she was a skinny, small little thing. Though she never took it off, she often pulled up the hood to look at herself and poke at her ribs. Strange - but all too true.

Following the fellow Hunter but on a different building, Emilie dug in to her meal, so glad to have a warm, fresh meal after so long. But she knew that the human's were beginning to dwindle in numbers and she actually kind of hoped that some of them would survive. But that was just the small human side of her that couldnt let go, no matter what the Sickness did.

The male still felt the urge to cavort and spring around the building after his kill was brought safely to the top of it. He couldn't resist growling loudly and making a few soft yipping sounds, pounding at the roof below him with good cheer. He was much more lost to the Infection, really, based on how he reacted to certain things. He had barely a shred of humanity left...he was more like a wolf than a human, now.

Only when he climbed down from the high his kill had given him did he dig into his meal. It was still perfectly warm and fresh--a good meal. He barely noticed the female on the other building. He was too engrossed in his food.

It was hard to tell how old he was. He had a slender frame...he couldn't have been too old. At least, not over twenty-one. He had a slight roundness that was visible on his face, still.

Emilie had the urge to jump around to do a little victory dance herself but she resisted, trying to get her fill before anything else decided it wanted her food at the moment. How Emilie acted - it was hard to tell she was a hunter. The only things that kept that fact in line was her strong, strong leaps and her razor claws. Other that that - one would think she was human. But -then again- when Emilie was infected, she clung hard to everything she ever was. And some of it worked.

Emilie was already eating when the other Hunter decided he wanted to eat. She didnt expect, nor suspect, that he noticed her, she had an interest in him but it wasnt strong enough to move away from her food and risk it getting stolen from under her. When Emilie was done, she looked over to the other Hunter and observed him, wondering just what his story was... but she wasnt the type to go up and simply ask.

The Hunter clawed desperately into his food, eating as much as he could as quickly as he could. He had learned to eat quickly to prevent his meals from being stolen by other Infected. Around this area, a large male Tank was well-known for bossing around the smaller Special Infected, particularly Hunters and Witches, and stealing food from Hunters. He couldn't exactly steal food from Witches, as they ate only sugar and sugary items.

This Hunter had encountered this Tank more than once. The big, bossy oaf was one of the reasons why Survivors knew to avoid this area, and the Hunter knew that...he drove away food, albeit unintentionally at times.

He sniffed slightly once he finished his food, licking at his lips and then brining his hands up to his face to lick at his claws. He appeared to be content with his meal.

Emilie stopped staring, cleaning her claws as well, trying not to think about the Tank that was running around. She had -however- made a few friends within the Special Infected's. A Witch, a few Spitters, and even a Boomer. But she never really got along with Chargers and Tanks.

As for the Tank that prowled this area - Emilie never had an encounter with him - and she preferred to keep it that way. She was a very... competitive Hunter and she'd try to gouge his eyes out.
