I've always been undecided on whether political correctness is the fact that gay does not mean lame or that the cookie monster should eat vegetables and say cookies are a sometimes food.
Maybe it's both. If it's about the cookie monster though, I don't like political correctness. I don't think I need to say gay does not mean lame.
=P

@ Hermes, well in all political correctness. The term 'lame' is a description of people who have the inability to walk I believe. But yes I also agree with you that using 'gay' as a placeholder for something that we are bored with or do not enjoy, isn't necessary.

I'm pretty sure lame would be a whole lot less politically correct than 'handicapable' or something absurd.

Not liking to be insulted is quite normal. I couldn't care less about those people. That doesn't mean I enjoy being attacked. I doubt you don't care in the slightest, yourself, of else you wouldn't make a point of embracing negative terms.

I have been called a nerd, freak, bookworm, weird, queer, gay and many more names before. I like being a weird freaky nerdy book worm! It does not hurt my feelings when people call me queer or gay...I know I am odd and happy (and also queer in the sense that they mean it)

It's fun when people are trying to insult you, and you push it back in their faces. They have no clue what to do about it. I've actually dumbfounded people by saying "yes and?" when I'm called a nerd. I love it.

I can acknowledge that does happen with me. As a person's intent, or at least perceived intent, does tend to influence the tone of their message. Also while I did not think communist, or more recently Politically Correct, was a derogative term, it did infuriate me as to the definition of those terms they were using. Oh and the act of asserting the right to define someone else, while dismissing their right to self identification is just rude. So that part also annoys me. u.u

Dork, dweeb, looser, saggy boob (that one is funny because at the time I had none), Geek, Nerd, Noob, Bubblegum Prep (also funny because I listen to heavy metal) and Librarian....
The Dork/nerd ones I'm fine with and call myself those. Hey I table top with the best of them!
Not so fond of Noob, because I think I've been gaming longer than some of the name callers have been alive. Granted I don't always keep on top of new games but still...
I don't know what "Saggy Boob" was supposed to mean, but it was just so ridiculous that I still remember it.
As for Bubblegum Prep, I responded by blasting Dragon Force out of my iPod, so what if I was wearing a summer dress and had my hair in pigtials? I listen to Metal, get over it.

I submit my vote to make 'saggy boob' the new generic insult instead of idiot, retard, loser, etc.

Yup growing up early nineties people still said Dweeb. And I second (third?) the notion of using the term "Saggy boob". Next time some one cuts me off in traffic I'm leaning out my window and yelling
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING YOU SAGGY BOOB!"

I have been called.. Shit, Poofy and Crazy.

But the only think I am proud of is Crazy cause it really defines me, and only my friends get to know the real me and they seem to have fun with me. Cause I definitely have a sense of humour.

But back when I was in elementary, they considered me as the most ugliest kid in class and they always laugh right in my face cracking hurtful jokes, I was a wimp. but then when I was in sophomore everything changed, I got thinner and my face got glowing and my face just changed. and most people gave me the odd looks and they complimented me that I got really pretty and lighter and that I shed a lot of pounds. I was quite shocked or creeped out. . cause I was the ugliest kid back then. But up until now, It still hurt a lot. when they say positive things about me I only think that they are saying that to make me feel better or they feel sorry for me.
Nothing changed inside me.

Regardless of what they say you look like, just remember that you're gorgeous. It helps quite a lot. :)

Sarofset is right. Once you realize that you are beautiful, smart, and worth the time, you are ready to face the world. Those who can't see it aren't worth it.

Always been my philosophy. That's why I'm not letting my breakup get the better of me. If she isn't the right one, then I'll find someone later on you know?
