Hello, I'm Milk. -shakes hand- You can call me variations of my username if you're more comfortable with that though.
No, I don't role-play with * * or dashes for actions. I simply chat that way. I'm also new to role-playing. I'm in one on an invisionfree forum at the moment and it's my one and only experience. I have admittedly "stalked" literate role-plays before. Some of which have been on here. Now I'm looking to participate. Shocking, I know. So yeah, patience would be lovely. I may have some questions that could be considered silly.

I've never done a 1x1 role play. Well, I have, but it was a thread on a forum dedicated to one main plot. So questions galore about that and one thread role-plays in general. The main/general one being: how does it work?

I'm literate. I don't expect perfection, especially since I'm far from it, but a decent effort would be lovely. I prefer 200-500+ word posts but understand when that simply isn't possible. It's usually not hard though. Other than that the general things I'm looking for are: proper grammar for the most part, quotations, third person, replies at least a few times a week (if real life is getting in the way, just let me know), communication outside the role-play/communication outside of character roles, real people pictures - not drawings, some formatting that makes your post easier to read, and separating paragraphs.

My focus would not be romance, but if it happens it happens. I'm good with any gender pairing, including poly pairings. I just don't want one that is necessarily focused on the development of a relationship. Okay, yeah, I guess I wouldn't mind trying it. First time for everything, right? Proposition me? ;D

My interest right now lies in something apocalyptic. Zombies, virus, or some variation of mass human death and survivors struggling to, well, survive. I love the stories, I love the movies, and I would love to try role-playing it.

I only have experience with Harry Potter 'theme' role-playing, but I'm not looking for one and I can't think of any other fandoms I'd be willing to role-play. If I do, I prefer alternate universes or a different time period from when the main story takes place. (ie. For Harry Potter I wouldn't play when Harry is at school, I would play either before, after, or simply an alternative universe in the Harry Potter world.)

I will not do animal. I just don't have any interest in it.

Other than that I'm not sure. I'm open to ideas and whatnot though. Just... be easy on me? xD

Here is a short sample of my writing.
I'd prefer to play with people who write somewhat similarly.

SPOILERX

Frustration. Such a simple word for such a complex feeling, yet, that was all Druella could think of to describe how painting made her feel. She was supposed to focus on relaxing feelings, on happy memories and peaceful meadows. All she could think about was tearing up the canvas. Lighting it on fire. Throwing it out the window. Anything to get the hideous thing out of her sight.

“How is your scene coming along, Druella?” her tutor, Ms. Rawn - Dawn - Kon - whatever, asked seriously.

“I’m a little stuck on where to go next,” Dru replied calmly with no hesitation. She’d express her true feelings in her personal journal after the lesson. Maybe attempt a poem. Freestyle.

“Should I add more bushes over there?” she asked, using the wooden end of her brush to gesture to a particularly empty section of meadow. The gesture must have been a bit more aggressive than she meant to be judging by the quick glance Ms. Dawn - Nan? - gave her.

“I think this is a good point to end our lesson on Miss Rosier,” her tutor said calmly, but with edge, as she gathered the few books she brought with her. “You are to complete this painting before your next lesson and write in your artists journal about the feelings that inspired the painting. Two pages. Use imagery - a painter must be able to paint with words as well as colours. Good day.”

Dru smiled softly, slyly, and bid her tutor a good day as she left. She glanced at the clock in the foyer after closing the door. Twenty one minutes before her hour long lesson was scheduled to end. A new record.

hello hope its okay to post. i would like to role-play with you. i can write more then one paragraph depending on your post. The most i have written is 8 paragraphs and not small paragraphs either. I have been working on a plot to do with some sort of virus in fact and i would like to do something different. I can play both genders or double if you want to.

Yeah, it's all good. I had nothing else to add. (:
That sounds good. I'm more comfortable with females but can do males as well. I probably should have included that in the first post...
And I have absolutely no idea how to go about building said role play. My green is showing. Px

Doubling, as in playing two characters?
Um, yeah. I think that's what I mean by building. General construction. I'm way too nervous for my own good. 'Tis why it's taken me so long to actually attempt role-playing.

Ah. Alright-y. (:
Oh, that's good. I have no idea how I would be with plots... other than the actual role-play writing.
I'm a zombie apocalypse girl at heart but would be more than content with a virus apocalypse if you're more comfortable with that.

[edit] I have to go for the night. I'll probably check in here in the morning but I have school. I look forward to chatting/playing with you. (:

i've been wanting to try a virus sort of thing so how about this.

it is around the future maybe and there is a huge war going on. a worse war then ever possibly. And there is a new virus that is unknown and no one knows how it starts but its spreadable and it can kill people from the inside?

im not sure how to come up with the whole idea but if you have little details to add then we can brainstorm together :D

Virus it is then. (:
The war starts out conventional (guns and various explosives) then biological weapons are used, which would, of course, be illegal. The army/government is telling everyone the 'virus' spreading in their country (what should we name it? perhaps some slang names as well?) is simply a mutation of an every day flu (sort of like the swine flu... but that genuinely was... this wouldn't be). When people start dying and quarantines are set up people start going crazy. Peaceful protests against the war turn into violent protests against the government/virus. Civil war breaks out within the attacked country(ies?) amongst those that aren't ill but it is slowly coming to a stop as the virus spreads.
... what would the country(ies) that this country is at war with be doing?
Ooh... or perhaps the government is using it on their own people (because of the protests?) and blaming it on another country. Trying to get their people to support the war? Could have started being spread in vaccines or a new type of shot... or even the drinking water if it's that type of virus. If this is the future it could be spread in many different ways, right?
Hmmm... the government could have intended to use the virus on a waring country but it slipped out somehow... Someone being tested on made a run for it, a doctor didn't follow procedure, or a cadaver not being properly disposed?
Thoughts?

I must go get ready for school. I'll be back in about ten - twelve hours. Maybe sooner.

i really like where this plot is going. this sounds very good and fun. the virus could have a name with numbers and letters but not fully making a name?
have fun at school

I'm glad. I like it too. Slightly cliched but still darn awesome. Most cliched things are. (x

What would your preference for the origin be?

Hm. I was thinking that for the 'official' name, but various slang for the 'common' peoples. Like swine flu.
Like... um... RG7 or something for the official name, and the common/slang name could be based on its apparent origin or the effects? Thoughts? Or would you just like to stick to the 'official' name? Let any slang terms develop 'naturally'?

What would the effects be? Like... how does it kill? Do people just drop dead or are there physical signs?
- I like the idea of having a 'silent' killer... perhaps it goes undetected at first because of that.
But ones with physical signs are also pretty neat.
- Maybe the virus slowly turns you blue/purple first by narrowing your blood vessels, thus killing you from lack of blood flow/oxygen to the brain.
- Or it could gradually paralyze the infected, starting from the bottom up. Feet first, then legs, abdomen (lack of bladder control), then hits the heart - killing the infected.
- Perhaps it starts out like a typical flu or... throat infection? Then the person just seems to dry drown in their sleep...
- Ohh. Or something brain related? Causes some sort of reckless behavior by some sort of change in chemical production in the brain. The same chemical may cause something along the line of hemophilia (lack of blood clotting - they'd bleed out).

Um, and what would be the viruses preferences be? Like... does it affect the young or the old more/first? How long until it kills? I prefer the old to be affected first... making it be less detectable until it's too late. I was thinking roughly a week before it kills... but that would vary, wouldn't it?

Um... any other ideas? Preferences?
Am I asking too many questions?

all this sounds great. also what if one of the symptoms was to make the person affected be paranoid? then it'll continue all the other symptoms? all of this really sounds great. and the name it could be similar to like what the swine flu was like and i like the name you came up with it even if it was an example

Heh, after a bit I don't think a chemical would be needed to make them paranoid, but I like that. I like that a lot. (:
Which other symptoms do you like? I was just throwing out ideas as they came to me.

Not really a genius... more of a girl that grew up with a medical interested mother and a love for the morbid. xP Hence my interest for this type of role play.
All of them? So it would affect everyone differently? 'Cause I honestly can't see a disease causing all of that for everyone.

Ooohh. Oh , oh. It could go through phases. As it mutates different symptoms come out! Seems much more logical to me. If that's good with you that is.

The order of mutation could go something like:
1. Paranoid for some, reckless for others. Both affected would have hemophilia.
2. Then it would mutate into the blood vessle constricting symptoms. Seems like a fairly logical progression since hemophilia also about the blood.
3. After which people start to become paralyzed. Since there would be few people left many would die alone and literately covered in their own... excretions. Most likely they would be paranoid from seeing so many people die, not paranoid from the actual virus.
I was thinking each phase would last about a month... kind of meld together of course... but I'm not all too sure.

I'm not really sure how to work in silent deaths (other than suicide) or the flu/dry drowning one.

Okay... so... countries at war in...
- Which countries?
- When is this taking place?

A biological weapon is released onto one of the countries.
- Who is it released by?
- Does is spread beyond the one country?

RG7 started spreading as a paranoia causing virus. Not many in...
- Which country are we in? The US?
- What cities are we starting in?

... noticed it until sales were going down and it seemed like almost everyone had quit their job. Stores were closing on a mass level. Some people weren't staying inside though. Some were rioting, partying, and looting. The few reporters left unaffected and the conspiracy theorists were having a field day. Answers were being demanded from the government but none were being given. Some of the rioting turned against the government. After a month the bodies piled up and there weren't many left willing to riot. Some of the bodies were even blue and purple. Scientists dissected a few of the cadavers and found that the blue and purple bodies has constricted blood vessels. They died from lack of oxygen to their brain and more were following suit.

Over half the population was gone, bodies were starting to litter the streets (where else could they go?), and those that weren't paranoid at first were heading in that direction. The crime rate was going up as more died and the police force was being stretched thin. The elderly and the young started dying from starvation because their loved ones weren't there to take care of them.

After another month of living in fear with still no answers from the government beyond a "we're working on it," everyone had resorted to a survivalist mentality. Kill or be killed. Cops stopped patrolling and it wasn't shocking for someone to slit your throat for a can of soup. People were grouping together for survival. Nearly all the elderly were dead, as were the young. The virus had mutated yet again. At first you couldn't walk, then you couldn't control your bladder, and they you died when your heart simply gave out. It was a painful and long process. If you had someone they would put you out of your misery; if you didn't then you'd suffer as the world turned around you, no one noticing your existence other than to take your valuables.

Only about five percent of the population are alive today. They are the immune.

That's just a rough... with fill in the blanks.
What do you think? Any edits?
At what point do you think we should start the role play?

sounds good to me. where to start..? hm.. that is a tough question to answer. well we can start how this virus got loose? or we can figure out how our characters know each other and one of them is effected by the virus?

Ah. Play from when it struck. That sounds good to me.

I have my characters sort of rough in mind. A female, age around 16 - 18, who is mute. She has been floating in my mind for a while.
As for a male character... I was thinking of making him 28 - 29 and in the medical field somehow (perhaps a veterinarian or a nurse).

Sorry for the late reply. Had to take care of some important real life stuffs.
Anyway, it is so past my bed time. xD Goodnight.

Would you like to start the thread then?
I have absolutely no experience here on that.
Or is there a step before that that I've missed?
