I really like 'Born This Way' which I must say surprised me. I'm not the biggest Lady Gaga fan, only really liking 'Alejandro' for an extended period of time. I saw a link on facebook that was basically defaming the song, saying how it was clearly a rip off from Madonna. I don't really see it myself, but that could just be me.
I think that the message that the song has is also one that hits me on a more personal level, something that none of her previous songs have (I've never once asked to play a love game on someone's disco stick for example...) which probably adds to the fact that I like the song.
I think this single smacks of '89-'91 Madonna, which isn't a bad thing. I just hope that the entire album doesn't come off as a ripoff of Like a Prayer.
I don't really like it at all, it's nothing new to me, it's not bad but it's not special either.

It was pretty good, I wasn't super impressed with it since it wasn't a catchy beat like most of her songs and I dunno I think with the lyrics she has in the song she should of went with a whole different beat, most likely a slower and respectable beat would have been better because honestly the first time I heard it I could barely hear the important lyrics because the beat was distracting. :(
I like it. It reminds me of Madonna's music back in the day though. I would not say it's a rip off. I also hear a bit of TLC's "Waterfalls" in the song as well in the beginning. XD It is quite a catchy song.
I'm pretty disappointed with this song. I listened to a minute of it and my mind was screaming, "is it over yet?" I find it too repetitive and nowhere near as creative as Gaga's previous songs. I hope this isn't the best she plans to produce for her next album, or she's going to flop.
I don't intend to come off in a froth defending this song, because it's not spectacular, but if you think it was "too repetitive" when compared to previous stuff, you clearly need to go re-listen to every radio single she's released.
This is true, but I'm not really a big GaGa fan in the beginning. This song is repetitive in more than one way, however. It sounds like something I've heard a million times before. At least Bad Romance, Poker Face, Alejandro...etc...seemed a tiny bit unique.

To me this one sounds like Born to be Wild was taken and twisted into something girly by Heart or Cyndi Lauper.

I don't care for it at all. I'm not a rabid Gaga fan but I do like her and this to me was nothing but pure shit. It's repackaged 80s/90s Madonna. It's not Gaga's typical style. It's completely uninteresting. Very bland and dull.
Also, I agree that it would be much better if it were a slow song instead of a pop abomination.

The lyrics seem... so forced to one of her marketable crowds if you ask me. It's just to the point where she doesn't even sound like her normal songs (which I don't really think were good but they weren't the worst things ever uttered in music) to get some money.
I thought it was ALRIGHT. It's not like, super awesome or anything to me.

A couple of my friends are completely fucking worshiping this song like it's their new god or something. And saying it's the best thing they ever heard, don't know how they could've lived without knowing it, and other shit like that. When in reality, it's not that great. And someone else mentioned that so many of these fans are acting like this is the ONLY song saying it's alright to be gay, when it's one in many.
I think this song would've been much better if there wasn't so much hype from the fans and just if it came out of nowhere instead of letting all the fans make it seem sooo great therefore making actually kinda bad. :/
In fairness to all of those rabid fans, I implore you to come up with a more publicized, mainstream, out-in-the-open gay anthem in, say, the last 5 years. This isn't a counter culture song, it is the culture, which is neat in its own way.
Express yourself is the song I was pretty much thinking of when I made my post. It's defiantly "inspired" by the song. Lady Gaga does tend to "barrow" quite a few idea though, especially when it comes to her "fashion sense".
I do agree that the fans are annoying. I have two people that I work with that are obsessed with the song. They don't even know what it's about but because it's Lady Gaga they're obsessed. Lady Gaga has pretty much a cult following.
I would also like to say that it's quite annoying that Lady Gaga wrote songs about wanting a penis then turns her music around to say she's "bisexual" or "gay". I dislike marketing in that sense.
Inspired? That's a nice way of putting it, I'd have said "ripped off." She always gave me a Madonna sort of vibe but that's ridiculous.
I don't care about her cause, I never look at celebrities outside of their entertainment value so the reasons for her songs don't matter to me. I tend to like classic rock over pop so she doesn't have much to offer me with her work anyway. Now if only the rabid fans and haters would go away I could go back ignoring her, like I did when she was new.
Yeah, I used the term loosely. XD People that market themselves like that just irritate me in general. It's not so much about the cause it's more about the way she keeps flip flopping herself but I guess if you can't get on demographic then you have to market yourself towards the one that will buy your stuff.
Not saying that I don't like her music but it is very over hyped.
I know what you mean. I'd have more respect for her if I was convinced she was being herself and not trying to get as much attention as possible.
I don't really care for her or Madonna but I hate it when people copy another artists style.
But to be fair Gaga isn't the first person to pull something like this, look at Vanilla Ice for example...it's not like she's doing anything that hasn't been done by other artists in the past.
I must admit that 'Born This Way' is not like most of her other music and songs but that does not prevent me from loving it! A very good song in my oppinion! =3
Well, this is a subject for another thread, but I just don't like the message of being born with a sexuality. That's probly why it doesn't intrigue me as much. But I do like the sound of the song though. The video was very energetic too. :D
