If the Mods don't mind, I would like to start a topic about Virtual Singers and the programs that make them function. This comes from people posting about Vocaloid, but branching off into other things, or not giving word on other programs similar to Vocaloid. Perhaps a discussion on other talking / singing software and vocal distortion on humans.
You can talk about your fav programs and characters. If you have used a synthesizer program yourself, and if you have any examples of your works (songs or fanmade charas), I would like to hear and see it.

Trivia:
- America (USA), has no actual Vocaloid program or representing characters.
- Countries that have Vocaloid programs and characters: UK, Sweden, and Japan.
- Sonika is Zero-G's 4th female Vocaloid, and the first to have a character representation. She also has a Twitter account.
- FL-chan is an adopted mascot, and has no actual voice, she is all synthesizer.
- Miku's popularity has grown so big, she has a video game about her. And her likeness is used for merchandise and PS2's online environment.
- With Miku's release, the previous Vocaloids [Meiko & Kaito] have gotten back into view, and now there are figures and toys in their likeness. They are also in the Miku game "Project DIVA."
- Luka is the only Bilingual Vocaloid on the market. Though all Vocaloids are capable of singing in any language 'with a bit of work'.
- People have gotten around to actually releasing Albums that have Vocaloid only singing.
- ryo's song "Black Rock Shooter", was inspired by an Artist and Illustrator HUKE, and his character Black★Rock Shooter.

Merging these two threads together, as Vocaloid is included in the topic. :)

:] Oh dear, yes, this topic had to be made.
I tried a demo of I think Miriam. Good fun. Just sad that I could only use 5 different words. I refuse to acquire these softwares by any illegal means, so I have to rely on the nets to buy-buy them x ox
I'd love to have Kaito's and Meiko. Miku's voice is cute and all too, but I adore Meiko. This was like back when only Meiko and Kaito were available, so I only knew of her.
LoL @ Gakupo

I would like to try the new Vocaloid - Sonika, and I would also like to get Sweet Ann (been a growing fan ever since the Salamander cover song).
I don't know if I could create an original song though. ;_; but I do like to write poems and lyrics, but I have no thoughts of putting them to music. lol maybe I would just use them as a Talkloid [Vocaloids having a conversation].
So far I have never seen a Vocaloid being sold in US stores, I am referring to an actual box with a CD inside. I know I can order it online, but I guess I am not quite use to doing such things.

Zero-G's male Vocaloid "Tonio" will be released soon.
He sounds pretty good. And can hold a note, but like most singing software, some time a word combo will make the vocaloid sound muffled or slurring.

I was all ways curious what exactly Vocaloid was.
Are there any obvious way's to tell the singer is computer generated?
Are there only certain voices that can sing?

This is another old thread. I was referred here by another old thread, but I thought I would revive this one because I want to know more on this subject.
I -still- haven't quite figured out how to work Miriam demo.
