Hm, well yeah..I've felt pretty wrecked
these last couple of months. And listening
to The cure, or Augustana wasn't really
helping my situation. xD; It's like a
cycle of depression that never ends.
So I started listening to better
up lifting music that pretty much
says Eff you to my ex. In a way,
I dunno. It makes me feel better,
some how.
Listen up by Falling in Reverse.

What helped you get by? ...a little help from your friends?

I have a few favourite break up songs. My top 1 would have to be:
1: There you go - P!nk
P!nk is pretty good. She's probably got a tonne of break up songs that I haven't heard of.

Aww, I'm sorry Elluh.
*hugs*
That's never any fun, but the right music can make it a heck of a lot better. (:
I went through a similar thing, but from the sound of it, it took me way longer than you to realize that my normal song rotations were not going to cut it. Not quite enough of a "screw you" message.
It actually sucked, because there were a ton of songs I stopped being able to listen to because they made me sad.
But that wasn't your question, so excuse the rambling and on to the breaking out the jams!
I don't know if you're in to / can tolerate country at all (I know a lot of people can't xD) but it is chock full of choice material.

And just because it is too perfect not to mention...

PS: High fives all around for a fellow Beatles fan. (:

I know what you mean about the Cure. I love them but some of their music is depressing if you're trying to get over someone.
Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street (also covered by Simply Red)
Limp Biscuit - Break Stuff
Carrie Underwood - Before he cheats
Fighter - Christina Aguilera
You ought to know - Alanis Morissette
Limp - Fiona Apple
Alicia Keys has a few good songs too that are more or less saying "I'm better without you". Paramore also has quite a few break up songs.
Also, for some angry music, pretty much anything by Minor Threat, Sex Pistols, or Rage against the Machine to name a few bands.
I was going to mention early Against me! but seems you have that one covered. :P
That's all I have for now.

@ Where - Oh yus, pink is one of my favorite "Eff off" music artists.
She's a great musician.
@ Candy - I don't mind the rants at all! So rant away if you want on my
profile. C: I like reading stuff. And about the music cycle, it took
me a reaaaally long time to figure it out and actually put it into play.
It took me around 5 years, to actually get around to throwing away
all of my depressing stuff..I kept my tegan and sara though.
Yes! I can relate to that entirely! I had to stop listening to
a majority of my favorite bands because my ex and I were like
musical soul mates.
As for country, I like some of it. I'm open to all forms of music.
There's one song called please don't take the girl, and it's really
good. I dunno who's the artist though.
@ Mystic - Gosh, yes. Along with The Smiths and Right away great captain!
makes you want to go crawling back to your ex lover.
Those are some good songs, I know most of them except for Limp biscuit.
And I wish I had the balls to do what Carrie Underwood sings about.
I know for a while I listened to Decode by paramore on repeat
for a couple of hours after a rough night.
Hmm, angry music. I think The Distillers Dismantle me is a good one, and you can
never go wrong with The Clash or Social Distortion.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Every Rose has it's thorn by Poison. o x o;
That's like one of the ultimate break up songs..
yes. ;D Against me! <3
Sorry for the rant D:

Limp Biscuit is a terrible band but that's one of the few songs that I bring out when I'm upset or mad. XD
I was about to mention Poison too but couldn't think of the song title. Every rose has it's thorn is a good one though.
Yes, agreed with Social D and The Clash as well!

Three words: Cradle of Filth
Two more words: Amon Amarth
Both those bands have the PERFECT music for me when Im either stressed, getting over someone, pissed, or just plain want people to know not to bother me(put my headphones in and max volume).
Some other good songs Ive found that help me include:
Die, Die My Darlin by Metallica
To Hell We Ride by Lostprophets
Planet Hell by Nightwish
Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash
I Stand Alone by Godsmack
Quoth The Raven by Eluveitie
Roundtrip to Hell and Back by Children of Bodom
and
If You Want Peace...Prepare For War by Children of Bodom
Thats just to name a few, I didnt even touch on the country songs that I tend to listen to. xD

As much as this band sucks, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Gives You Hell by All-American Rejects.
Now for some decent music.
Forever the Martyr by Dirge Within - Discovered them at a concert. Let the rage begin!
Die MF Die by Dope - The chorus always puts a smile on my face. Who doesn't love chanting "die, motherfucker, die"?
Goodbye by Gravity Kills - Yeah, it's from Mortal Kombat :P
I Hate Love Songsand Sick of You by GWAR - Few bands are as dear to me as these boys but that's a tale for another time. These songs always puts a smile on my face because they're just funny.
Liar, Te Amo...I Hate You, How Could I Believe, Ritual, What You Deserve, and Reservation for Two by Ill Nino - My favorite band on the planet for too many reasons to list. Lots of great stuff, this is just a small sample.
Pretty much all of Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory album. Can't say much about the rest since I didn't like anything after that.
Leave Me Alone by Michael Jackson - No excuses, I love this song.
Feelings by The Offspring
Always by Saliva
Confessions of Hatred and Face to Face by Sevendust - Face to Face is especially fun!
Tainted Love by Soft Cell - This track is mandatory.
Next Time by Soul Decision - I have a huge soft spot for this boyband.
Love Stinks by The J. Geils Band - Also mandatory.
I Hate Myself for Loving You by Joan Jett and the Black Hearts - So good!
Edge of a Broken Heart and Cryin' by Vixen - Two personal favorites of mine.
Fool for Your Loving by Whitesnake
Miles Away, Headed for a Heartbreak, and On a Day like Today by Winger - Another of my favorite bands. I'm going to marry Kip Winger someday!
Love is for Suckers by Twisted Sister - Love it!
Well now, I do believe that's enough from me :P Enjoy!

Hmm, my favorite would have to by the angry kind of music, I can't think of any right now but the ones that are loud and you can blast in your room to drown out everything else.
Hmmm...lets see if I can find one..
Paramore is really good at doing that kind of music, LOVE THEM <3
Uhm, another song I like is "When you're gone" By Avril Lavigne.
