This is a poem I wrote a while ago to make fun of my brother and his gaming habits (as well as to mock my own), and generally most fighting games (namely MMO's).
Let me know what you think of it!
The right click was stuck,
In horror I watched as my men went down.
“Fall back! Fall back!” I yelled into the headset,
But all in vain.
They were upon us.
Just as they were programmed to be,
Clawing at pixelated machines,
All for what?
War rained down upon my battered ears,
My hands frozen to my weapon of choice.
We knew it was stupid,
But we felt there was no other choice.
Our levels were too low, as was our ammunition.
We might as well have thrown sticks at them,
For all the damage we handed out.
A harsh cry lands me back in the present,
The screams are all around me,
I cannot log out.
The voice cries again, and I recognise the line
“LEROY JENKINS!”
It’s the cry of a suicide mission,
I’ve heard it many a time.
Somehow, we’ve always pulled through.
Not this time.
The right click was stuck,
I cannot move forward.
Frozen to the spot.
My time has come.
A doomed message appears on my screen,
“GAME OVER: press ENTER to continue.”
