No idea - it's crazy though - they need to come out with a better system instead of trying to make them ridiculously priced and rare. I mean seriously - make them abundant, to a degree, like the Sugar Cookies and Flowers, ya know?

That's because there will be like, one seller in there at a time and so they'll inflate it like crazy because hey - if they're the only one selling then people are going to have to pay that price or not get it because there aren't any others for sale, ya know?
No competition. And if there is competition, it's going to be within a few gold because no one is going to want to get less than they can for it.
It seriously sucks though when you even see Mods with new items up for sale at like, 10-15k right off the bat. That right there just makes the inflation worse and encourages it, ya know?
It's even worse when they're also putting that months items up for like, 2k :/

Yeah that's true. 2k a piece, that's reasonable i think. They were 2-2.5k for a very very long time (a set). So it's about time they're 4k a set now. I just wish the older items weren't deflating so much. I got a bunch of cookies i need to get rid of now xDDD.

Auctioneer items are generally harder to get when they first come out. Then, after the excitement, they go down in price and bid wars hardly happen as often as the month nears at the end.

Also, I do not mind the new CIs being 2.5k. Why? Because when I donate, I feel like I can get more for the donation I make. I've donated more these past couple of months than I have when they were only worth 1k. Selfish, yes, but it does encourage questers to donate.

I don't get into the bidding wars, where people put their items up for sale for lower than what's the normal market just so they can get their items sold faster lol
Plus, 2.5k is pretty cheap in comparison to how this economy has changed. The marketplace pretty much backfired this economy and it's pretty much on it's way to being like Gaia's now, which really isn't surprising~
The balance is just completely tipped and it's hard for people to make money because if they want to sell old items, they're going to get a 1/3 of what they paid/what they're worth, and unless they get the new items cheap in auctions, they're looking at 10-15k a pop for new auctioneer items, and now it's looking at thousands of dollars a pop to get Event Items during the event. And on top of it, new monthly CI prices aren't reflecting it so unless you donate a lot of money a month (like, $20 or more), you're really not going to make a lot on CIs to even compensate or attempt to get the other new auctioneer items~
And I'm sorry - but for recolors of MCs?
I'm not paying 10-15k a piece for them. If they were completely different and new items? I may be more willing - but recolors? Come on. They should be making those extras for when you donate like they did with the Golden Faun Horns, not as auction items that no one can afford :/

The average buy price for those items aren't really something to go off on. Really, it's just the average of the lowest buy price + highest. When it comes to auctioneer items, you either buy high or buy low. D: This is why I think there should be listing for how much a recent item sells for, mainly because the average buy price isn't always accurate.

As for CIs going for 1k each even less, take a gander through my exchange thread. People were offering 250 gold for a glacial circlet. xD That was in 2008. I took periodic breaks from then and now, mind you. I do recall some new CIs going for 500 and 1000 gold at one point, but meh.

Oh, for some reason I thought I paid 9k for my crown back in 2007, guess it was really 3-4k, haha. Aaaah, sorry, going through my thread to find sales of ye' olden days. xD

I really don't see it backfiring on people who actually want the items, truth be told. For people who have them, yes, I can see it as such. But I can say this for a fact; new members do not want to go through extreme lengths to catch up on items that were released in the past. So with older items deflated, I think it encourages new users to join because they do not have to strain themselves as much. It's a double edge blade, but at the same time, the MP encourages more people to sell items that wouldn't have sold them in the Exchange. I think there are more older items than people first realized and I think that's why items deflated.

The recolors are more of a gold sink, imo. Really, I'd be more upset if they were to sell the recolors as another CI. But Mene lost money when people got free items for donating a set amount, remember? Because people didn't want to donate just in case there was a free item for the later CIs. :[

Yeah, when I first started I did - because that was the normal price for them - but now it's not the normal price and it's quite dirt cheap for them lol
Basically the price of items that aren't overly wanted lol
But I've never sold a CI for less than 2-3k in the past couple of years lol

I wasn't trying to debate, it was just more of an input from a user who lurks and is questing quite a few older items. I actually think I sold some CIs when I first came back for 1.5k before they suddenly went up. I think that was in May. So it hasn't been too long since the CIs went up. ^^;

The only reason those items are inflated is because people are willing to pay that much for them. You cannot blame Mene for what users are willing to pay for a recolor. :[
