Plot
In the far desert lands of Numeria there was once an ancient people named the Anasarie . They were a mysterious, darkly tanned skinned people who lived in the caves of the May’sa, or flat toped, Mountains of Numeria…Much of the area has been settled now but there is still open country around their ancient capital. The newer settlers called this spooky place ‘Land of Dead Castle’ though the Anasarie called the land Hahver’nay or Heaven’s Gate in their tongue.
The May’sa Mountains were filled with gold and the Anasarie with magic so they made many treasures of great value and power. Yet, around 3400 years ago the Anasarie disappeared, leaving everything behind as if they’d just dropped what they were doing and walked away. Some say they tired of the wars, some say they died or were wiped out but no one really knows for sure. Still, people sought the treasures then and still do now, particularly in the vastly unexplored ‘dead castle country’.
Perhaps to protect it from looters or to loot it themselves many people bought the land from the government of Numeria and it changed hands many times throughout the years. Finally a man bought the land and built a beautiful Inn for adventurers and sight seers, offering to allow anyone to keep any treasures they found…as long as they let it be recorded for posterity and did nothing to damage any remains or buildings of the ancient Anasarie. It is an offer that he made sure was tied to the land even as it changed hands, finally bought by a woman named Ms. Meila ‘Mei’ Eowyn. She runs it now, along with her stables and invites anyone to come find the treasures and adventure she offers…along with her beautiful horses, both magical and mundane.
(*Note, yes the irl Spanish term is Mesa, or ‘Table top’ for a particular type of mountain’s flat tops. This however, despite its similarities to certain areas of the South West, USA is ultimately the fictional Numeria. A magical land with nymphs, demons, dragons, witches, etc. May’sa will come from the ancestors of the Numerian’s word that means a similar term of Flat topped.)

Setting
At the top of one of the May’sa’s, called Gabriel’s peak, there is built an Inn. It is called the Sunset Traveler’s as it has been since its original building around four hundred years ago. The inn is flanked by Mei’s garden and her large stable, and the stable is filled with horses of every kind…even unicorns and a Pegasus or too. To rent one of these horses, speak to Mei. The gentle Unicorns and prideful Pegasi will refuse some riders, only the pure hearted can ride the unicorn. The Pegasi also refuse to go underground.
Beneath the Inn is of course the mountain itself, filled with the caves, tunnels and secret caves of explorers and the Anasarie alike. Magic still fills the area, calling to magical creatures and ambitious normal humans…and things of the dark. The more dangerous creatures have been chased deep into the tunnels but their teeth and claws are still dangerous as ever. Mei has made the tunnels as safe as she can but she warns that those who choose to explore on their own take their life into their own hands.
The monsters, however, are not the only dangers here. There are ghosts, some of explorers who have failed and some of Anasarie whose graves have been disturbed. Some will help you, some will hurt you, some will do both… but none are to be trusted Mei warns. Those who help always have their own motives and can turn on you easily…
Still there are pleasures to be found in these many caves. There are not only treasures but the secret and sacred cave gardens of the Anasarie still grow. Magical orbs of varying colors fly through the caves like sentient lamps and the fruits are unlike any that can be tasted today. The flowers are bright and beautiful, the trees strong enough...and wise enough to be unlike any who know the sun. The orbs provide the light and nutrition for the plants, along with the underground streams of the May’sa mountains. It is truly a beautiful place.
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE INN/LAND.
1. The one who signs the guests in is a npc fairy at the desk described in the start post , SO YOU CHECK YOURSELF IN WITH THE NPC. If you stand around waiting for someone to check you in then you’re going to wait forever and not get to rp as you ignored rule six if you don’t see this :P. This is so people don’t have to wait on anyone and is for YOUR benefit.
2. The gentle Unicorns and prideful Pegasi will refuse some riders. Only the pure hearted can ride the unicorn, they refuse all others under most circumstances. The Pegasi will refuse any rider who tries to make them go underground and are mainly to fly above land.
3. Many of the explored caves are lit by magically powered torches, however the deeper caves may require you take your own.
4. Calling for help may result in Mei if she or one of her cats or one of her horses hears you… or it may result in a monster or ghost if they hear you first!
5. The inn is built from a combination of Stone, Adobe(a type of brick made from earth), and wood.
6. FIVE DOLLOARS DONATION RENTS A ROOM for up to a month but more can be given if you like.
7. There are many cats roaming the grounds, the inn, the gardens, and even the caves. They are mostly normal, domestic cats but have the ability of understanding human speech and human level intelligence.

Username: Staria
Name: Meila “mei” Eowyn
Apparent Age: Appears in her early twenties.
Race: Half Human, Half Feli’flammia*
*A type of ancient, rare cat like creature who has power over fire and is innately magical as well as very secretive. Their fire tends to be different colors based on their spiritual tendencies or mood; Mei’s is usually blue for example but can be white if angry enough or dark purple if sad enough. They have a ‘human’, partially human, and full beast form but have cat like pupils in all three. They also frequently have odd colored hair/fur and the number of tails, as well as type, can change between Felia. Few exist and far fewer are seen. They are often confused as cat demons or shifters of some sort.
Appearance: (pic coming soon) She has pale blue, almost white hair and one dark blue eye, one dark purple. Her hair is thick and slightly wavy, falling about a third down her back and typically worn mainly down. She has a curvaceous figure but delicate long limbs and is very tall, nearly over six feet. Her hands are slender but the muscles are slightly visible and her fingers seem a touch too long. She is pretty but there is always a feeling of being not quite human about her. Her facial features are delicate, her eye lashes long and thick, and her lips are full and red. Her top lip seems a little too full.
Her hybrid form is the same as above but with large cat ears in place of her human ears, claws, and three tails. Each tail is slender, pale blue-white, and tipped in bright blue. Her ears are also blue-white like her hair but seem dipped in bright blue. Her tails are mainly like a normal house cat’s tail except with a slight point at the tip. She also has short, barely visible but able to be felt like velvet, fur on her hands, lower forearms, feet, and lower legs.
Her full cat form is similar to a blue-white lion. She still has three tails, however, and her blue markings as well as additional blue markings on her back that are similar to wings and blue ‘tear’ marks like a cheetah. Her tails also seem to hold a flame at each tip flared to life.

Start Post
As you enter the elegant inn you can hear the soft sound of an underground stream and often the soft strumming of a harp. A long hallway greets you as you step through the door with tables filled with fresh flowers on either side, paintings of horses in various scenes above each one. It is much cooler inside then outside, feeling more like the caves below perhaps because of the dark brown glazed adobe bricks used inside the walls. The floor is made of dark wood that is smooth as marble and is enchanted to release the scent of flowers when stepped upon.
The end of the hall opens into the heart of the inn, the greeting room. Velvet couches sit along the walls nearest you which are again covered in paintings and tapestries as are most of the rooms in the Inn. On each side of the large room with its elegantly carved wood ceiling are open doors. The one on the right leads to the kitchen and dining room, the other leads to the hallway which takes you to the stables. Yet the most important feature is probably the desk you will reach if you walk straight forward.
On the left of the desk is the rock stairway and balcony that leads to the many rooms and crafting towers. The desk itself is ornate wood and has small framed pictures behind it. On the desk is a sign in sheet and a donation box, to which a minimum of five dollars must be dropped to rent a room. To watch this box is a fairy… at least it appears to be a fairy.
When you first enter it is a glowing blue ball of light that then forms into a humanoid form in a long robe. She then invites you in further, asking for a donation and for you to sign the guest book. Once you do so she smiles and hands you a room key, as well as gives you any directions you may need.

((OPEN))
((Time for My first in character post :P.))
Mei stood in the kitchen, in her partially human and partially cat form since there was no guests to care about. Her ears were perked downward and she was biting her lip as she concentrated on the cake she was decorating. She loved to bake... even though it made the kitchen warmer than the other rooms. It was one of her many hobbies… but unlike most of her hobbies one she finished. She had half a dozen unfinished paintings in her room and other odds and ends.
She was in the mood for something sweet… but she always had to make it look pretty too. She was making an intricate flower pattern over the top of the simple but delicious sheet cake. She held the red cherry frosting carefully as she decorated the white frosting with it, which was also cherry flavored. The cake itself was chocolate.
She was dressed in a simple but elegant blue silk top under a jean vest and a pair of tight blue jeans. She also wore black fingerless gloves and a black belt that matched her black boots. Over it all, however, she wore a simple white apron to keep her clothes clean. Her hair was pulled up in a tight ponytail as it always was when she cooked and her back was too the door.

Though no vehicle had approached, a man with brilliant orange hair slowly stepped towards the beautiful inn, his golden-orange eyes scanning the grounds in an almost suspicious manner from behind the dark lenses that protected them from the desert sun. He walked with an easy grace that would almost seem arrogant, were it not for his relaxed posture. As he stepped up towards the door of the building, he gave one last look around, eyes narrowing as he searched for any hint he was followed. Feeling secure, he opened the door and stepped inside, taking off his sunglasses to let his eyes adjust to the dim interior.
Walking with the same slow gait, he took the time to appreciate the elegant decor of the hall, but scrunched his noise slightly as the floral scent wafted up from the glossy wood floor. When he entered the main room of the inn, he stopped to look suspiciously at the blue light, not recognizing it's origins at first, but once it shifted to it's gentle-looking human form, he relaxed once more.
"You are the greeter then, little one?" he asked as he set down the heavy leather bag he had been carrying. The blue creature smiled and nodded, then proceeded to explain the business's rules and offerings. He scoffed a bit at the price and opted to place a fifty dollar bill in the small box, feeling the decadent inn was surely run by a daft person who felt the need to cheat themselves of money. He then signed his name into the book and accepted the key the ethereal woman handed him, giving her a nod as thanks.
The first thing he did was place his things into his room, finding the best places to hide his more valuable possessions within a few moments. It's not that he expected to have his things gone through, but he was a secretive and suspicious creature by nature. Once everything was in order, he went back downstairs to explore the rest of the building, partially from curiosity and partially to know all the ins and outs, another habit of his.

As he left the fairy like creature returned to it's orb form and projected its voice next to Mei's ear. It informed her of their new guest and a few off hand observation, which knowing the fanciful mind of the fae may or may not be true. It was indeed a creature of nearly psychic abilities but its ability to separate fact from fiction was...well.. non existent. Accordingly it was always very right or very wrong and Mei had long ago learned there was really no telling which so she only listened to them out of habit.
Still, as common as this exchange was, it was sudden enough that the feline nearly jumped and messed up one of her lines slightly. She flickered an ear and muttered an oath, adding an extra leaf to cover up the mistake. He sounded secretive... but well treasure hunters often were so it was not a rare train in her guests. In all honesty it suited her just fine, those who had many secrets to hide rarely pried to hard into the secrets of others. They made the least disruptive guests.... well as long as none of their secrets caught up with them here.
She finished the decoration of the cake and stripped off the apron, forcing herself to resume her human form. Of course, like all her kind her pupils were still inhuman but few looked close enough to notice. They only noticed the mismatched colors of her eyes on rare occasions, it probably helped their darkness made the opposing colors less obvious and the pupils less obvious still. Her new guest looked human the fae had said so she would take the form human looking species seemed to find most pleasant. She fixed her loose vest that did nothing to hide her curves and ran her fingers to smooth her ears over where her ears had been. She then fixed her hip hugger jeans to rise a little higher as her tails always pushed them down and headed for the kitchen door. It would not take long to find Sameal after a few mental questions to her cats.
"Hello sir, As the owner I thought it my duty to greet you. My name is Meila." She created as she pawed up towards him silently. She really couldn't help but walk this way, though lord had she tried. She even had switched to wearing heels, which had worked to make her walk more loudly and more normally.... for about a week. She gave him a warm smile as she spoke, hoping this would ease a little of the creepiness that came with her strange walk and slightly too long limbs, so slightly that many couldn't say why they seemed different just that they did. She would also hold out her hand in the typical handshake of the Numerian's that was popular in the area.

Though she was moving nearly silently, he knew the proprietor of the inn was walking up to him. His slight paranoia and conscious connection to the vibration of auras and energies allowed him to feel her presence even if he could not see or hear her. He was, however, a bit surprised as he found her to be the same height as him, though the expression never reached his face. Instead he returned her smile with a warm, almost sensual one and a nod of the head as he grasped her hand and shook it.
"Samael." He said, his baritone voice smooth and warm, much like the rest of him. "I must say, Miss Melia, you have a beautiful establishment here." He commented, nodding to the wall nearest to them for emphasis before returning his odd-colored eyes back to hers. He then took a moment to look her over, taking note of small details such as the way she stood and her expressions. She seemed a bit peculiar, but he could not place exactly what it was, the only thing he was sure of was she was not a normal human.

"Why, thank you! I try, though the original structure is not of my design I merely re-decorated the place. Well, asides from the stables. I tried to match the design to make them blend seemlessly but I don't know how well I succeeded. Will you be with us long? She responded warmly as she shook his hand with the firm grip one would expect from one of the best horse trainers in the country. She had surprising strength for one with such long fingers but not enough to be uncomfortable. She then released his hand and put her own in the pockets of her jeans. She leaned on one leg, stretching the other out slightly.
He really was warm...sensual almost. She imagined he had quite a way with woman and men alike when he desired. That smile... Yes it spoke of one who knew how to seduce and had no problem doing so if he desired. She would have to be careful around this one. She caught herself thinking this and tossed it aside. Now who was the one being fanciful? Still, her instincts did tend to be fairly sharp... not that it really mattered. Those who came here were interested in the famed treasure, not her.

"I have not been out that way, but I'm sure they are wonderful as well." Samael said as he thought about the second question. He really had no idea how long it would take, if there was even anything here for him to find. Deciding to tell the truth, he gave another smile. "I'm honestly not sure, but I shall try my best to not wear out my welcome."
Watching her for another moment or two, he ran a hand through the mass of curls and waves that was his hair, then began fiddling with the buttons on the cuffs of his shirt as he posed the next question. "I am sure you get this quite a bit, but what do you know of the treasure that is hidden in the caverns? ...Do you know if there is anything like a book, scroll or tablet?" He asked as he began to roll up his sleeves. This caused the peculiar tattoos on his wrists to be revealed, but if the owner of the inn stared at all, he paid no heed, being used to the glances and gossip they stirred.

She nearly chuckled aloud as his thoughts coincided so well with her own. Yes the treasure. Part of her thought it had been made up sometimes, a story the ghosts told to lure adventures who thought this land had been conquered by their invaders to deadly situations. Still, there was no explanation where their grand treasures had went so it's factual existence seemed likely and it did bring her business. However, no one really knew much about the Anasarie or their treasures so even if such a thing existed no one would have been able to translate it.
"I'm afraid not, the Anasarie didn't think of the treasure quite like we do so it was kind of like leaving clues to where your closet is. I do have a catalog of the various trinkets found and what sites they were found. I can also take you out on a ride with the horses to show you some notable sites that have been found if you would like to look there. I also just baked a cake if you'd like something sweet to recharge your batteries so to speak" She responded, her business like attitude returning. She had run through this sort of speech several times over it seemed and it was true to her knowledge. Gold held a spiritual but not a financial significance to the Anasarie so was simply not treated in the same way by them.
She did glance at the tattoos out of basic curiosity but only for a moment. She did not think of such oddities as well...all that odd. It simply wasn't all that shocking considering those who had come here or her day to day business down below. Many of the Anasarie ghosts had far stranger tattoos. Few others saw them in such physical forms, they saw most as just fools after their treasure who would not understand its meanings so saw no reason to show themselves. It was only Mei's lack of interest in it, as well as her lack of interest in finance or greed, that made them grace her with their presence now and then....even if it was to silently stare at her.

By her tone, Samael could tell she though he was just another person after the precious metals and gems that the Anasarie supposedly left behind. To him, those were mere trinkets and though they may hold some interesting historical value, they were nearly worthless. What he was seeking held little physical value, but it meant more than his very existence to him. It was an elusive knowledge and tended to bring misfortune to those who pried too much so he didn't try to correct the woman, it was better she thought he was after physical riches.
Breaking from his thoughts, he gave her another smile, though this one seemed weak compared to the first few. "I see, well I am still greatly interested... I would be grateful if you would show me the archives and sites, though I'm afraid I'll have to turn down the offer of cake, I'm not one for sweets." He said, forcing the smile to become more genuine as he spoke. "Could I perhaps have a glass of water, though?"

The strained smile... Perhaps he was a scholar? It mattered not, the Anasarie had chosen to bury their very culture in secrecy and so they viewed them very much the same. Honestly so did she but for different reasons. All their knowledge, all their culture, all of it was the same way. Something basic, something everyday, not something to store away in books or leave trails too. They held a very oral tradition and magic was a way of life, something most were taught along with being taught to speak or walk. Still, she didn't particular care if he approved of her, let alone understood her or her meanings. She was here for her horses mainly and the fact that she loved this land and respected the Anasarie for reasons of her own. Accordingly simply standing idly by while others destroyed what was left simply didn't appeal to her.
"Of course you may have water, or anything in the kitchen really..." She said with a nod and a warm smile, not seeming particularly offended by his refusal of cake or his smile. He was a costumer, simple as that. She then waved for him to follow her and headed for the kitchen. Once there she would get him a glass of water and head back to the cake to finally get herself a piece. She loved sweet things...It was why she learned to bake in all honesty. She would then glance at him, wondering briefly why he cared. Why had it offended him that she think he after the treasure?
Perhaps she had just gotten a little to use to simply being as much a fixture to those passing through as the inn itself was. Not something that mattered once they had information from her, but just like the stove or the washer that cleaned their clothing. More a mechanical machine at their bidding then an actual person or mind. Perhaps she had just never been in polite enough society or mattered enough... the idea of her opinion bothering someone simply puzzled her.

((Sorry this took so long, I'm multitasking.))
Giving a nod and a smile in thanks, he followed her to the dinning room and sat in a chair with his back against the wall. He held his proper posture, but somehow remained relaxed in an almost feline manner. When she returned with the water he murmured a thank you and took a sip, watching her leave. He made a few more mental notes about the way she moved and her body's structure, then allowed his eyes to wander about the room, taking in the details of the furniture and decor.
After a few moments of somewhat uncomfortable silence, he gently cleared his throat and turned his eyes back to Meila. "Perhaps there is another thing you could answer, Miss Meila. Do you know the history of this building? Since I heard of it I have been curious as to why someone would build an inn here." He said, taking another sip of water.

She was use to being watched, with her strange cat like habits and the fact she was none to hard to look at it was not rare. She only wondered if he looked to look or because he wanted to figure out what she was. Neither particularly concerned her as he was ultimately a transient guest who would leave in time. She had no real reason to think of him any deeper then that. He would be gone in a few months when he grew bored just like all the others, or so she assumed.
She never found silence particularly uncomfortable, use to it really. She merely ate her cake in small morsels to enjoy each one and mused over her daily tasks. Many of the horses needed their daily runs still, and of course Saturna the pegusus would need to take the rest of his herd flying. They had originally been a migrating herd but when Saturna was hurt she had helped heal his leg and ever since then he'd settled in with her foundling Pegusi making one big herd. He would stay the rest of his life likely, as he was a prideful creature and would not miss out paying his debts. Yet her thoughts of the horses were interrupted by another's speech and she pushed the thoughts away.
"Well it was originally built by a man who called him self William Carver, an archeologist. He said he wanted to protect the knowledge and such of the Anasarie. I never met the man so can't tell you if he was truthful, he died a long time ago. The Inn changed hands a few times after that, protected by the legalities passed down in his will as well as a few spells as he was apparently a hell of an enchanter.
It always seems those who seek to own this inn to steal from the Anasarie always seem to have something bad happen to them, while those who seek to do no harm profit no matter how little they charge. I don't know how he did it... or if he was the one who did anything at all.. it's all rather fascinating really. At any rate the last owner, a Samuel Cobbs sought to break up the watch tower in the closest ruins and sell the stones for extra profit. His own equipment fell on him and he nearly died. He and his wife then sold it to me a few years back and here we are." She explained as she reached over to pat the cat who had jumped in her lap. As it purred she used her free hand to still nibble at her food, curbing herself from talking about the magic to much. It put some people off... and few found it so fascinating as she did. that kind of curse... in this modern day and age wasn't suppose to be possible to fix upon a building that so clearly read the intentions of the heart, yet William had done it somehow. Most thought her crazy to say it but she knew it.... she just knew it!

Samael listened intently, as if he were drinking in the history as she spoke it. His eyes never strayed from her as she retold the tale of the buildings past, and an amused smile crept onto his lips. "An enchanter, you say? How very interesting... I must agree that he had to have been very skilled to pull something like that off. And to make it last this long, quite impressive." He said before taking a mouthful of water. It was true that he was impressed, it was rare to find a human honestly skilled in anything related to the arcane, at least in his opinion.
He took a moment to reach out with his energy in a attempt to locate the "shell" that major enchantments tended to leave in the area they were cast. He could definitely feel a strong magic, but he couldn't place where it was coming from. There was minor magic being used all the time in most places and he knew the vibrations from them tended to disrupt placement, so he brushed it off for now and refocused on the present.
"I have to admit I'm even more interested in the Anasarie now. To have had someone so dedicated must mean a lot to them." He said, not managing to catch himself before the words left his mouth. Did she know of the spirits that wandered the area? He hadn't seen any of them but he could distinctly feel their other-worldly energy. Quickly running through a few possible scenarios in his head, he decided he would pass it off as his way of showing respect to peoples of the past or something similar. He could continue to play the dedicated mortal scholar for now.

She listened to his response curiously, a little surprised. Few believed her that it was an enchantment at all. Her suspicions that he wasn't human were becoming stronger. She thought he didn't smell right but then again some magically inclined humans didn't so perhaps he was simply some sort of wizard. He wouldn't be the first seeking the Anasarie's arcane knowledge, some even suspected Williams had somehow used it... This type of thinking made them naturally even more inclined to chase the dream of it, something Mei thought foolish but that she understood. It tempted her as only knowledge could but she knew the Anasarie wanted to keep it buried as they did so many other things...
"It seems to..." Was her response as a light grin touched her features. It was an almost conspiratorial smirk and said quite clearly the words 'caught you' without them leaving her lips. Her cat like eyes narrowed briefly and for a moment she was amused. He seemed nervous and that alone to her said she was right that it meant something. So he knew of the ghosts too? Now either he was a practitioner of magic and psychic or he wasn't any more human than she was.... perhaps even less so. Still she said nothing and simply waited for her response to sink in.
Either he would take it as she knew too and start being honest or he'd continue the 'lets pretend we're both human' game. He wouldn't be the first....She'd once had a vampire in here who kept it up for a month. Still... now she knew. So the fae had been right about one thing anyway. Yet there was nothing she could do but continue the little game as long as her new guest desired it, the choice was his.

The look on her face made it all to obvious that she had caught on, and he honestly wasn't wholly surprised she did. He was tired, which had made him sloppy. The heat didn't help either and he still had a feeling she wasn't quite "normal" either. Knowing he had been caught red-handed in his charade, a smile graced his lips only to turn into a chuckle which then became laughter.
He settled down after a few heartbeats, but the smile remained. "Oh, please forgive my slip-up, it's been a long trip." he said before sipping his water to clear his throat. "You seem unfazed by this, I can only assume it is because you find yourself in a similar situation, no? I'm not a fan of dodging the bullet, so to say, so shall we play show and tell? I promise I won't be offended, frightened or alarmed by anything, nor will I run and tell the closest bounty hunter." He said, raising his hands in a show of peace and that he would honor his word.

She simply tilted her head to the side at his laughter, now that was a new reaction. Generally there was more pretending or even irritation that she'd caught on. Still it made a smile twitch onto her lips and she waited calmly for him to speak. She simply shrugged at the apology, though she did wonder just how long a trip it was. He seemed secretive enough that she didn't really expect total honesty... but technically she was nothing considered 'evil' as long as they actually believed her about what she was anyway. There was that time in the south they decided she was a demon... well that was an escapade for another time. Besides, the local authorities knew she was harmless for the most part and made their job easier in policing the area so they ignored any reports sent in about her anyway.
"My best friend is a fae and my favorite companion is a black unicorn, it takes a little bit to surprise me by now. As long as you don't kill my companions or my guests nothing really bothers me... But you're right, no I'm not human, well not fully anyway. My mother was but my father was a cat like creature that most people haven't heard off who can take human form as well as more cat influenced ones. I can do the same, but the hybrid is my favorite. What about you? Just what kinda beastie would you be?" She responded easily, her tone conversational. She actually seemed to relax a little more as playing human had never appealed to her much. It was more something she did for other people's benefit then her own. She briefly wondered if he'd have heard of her kind... few had, her father said for good reason and that he had been one of the last on this plane of existence whatever that had meant.

Samael frowned a tad as she mentioned the Fae that he had at first assumed was a simple charm of sorts meant to make Meila's job easier, he hated when he missed things like that. Brushing it off, he paid full attention to what she was saying, the oddities in her appearance and movements now making more sense. When he noticed her relaxing, his smile returned once more. He couldn't imagine what it would be like to hide in another form to please others, he had at least the luxury of appearing human naturally.
He then thought of his response, hesitating a bit as he mulled over how to say what he was. It was always a tricky topic, depending upon the beliefs of the other person, and it usually meant he had to take off his shirt to prove himself, but he doubted that would happen here. Meila certainly seemed as nonjudgmental as she said.
Exhaling, he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms, looking the half-feline woman in the eyes. "I am an Angel, bound to this plane by choice." He said simply. He figured it was a fifty-fifty chance of whether or not she believed him, and he was fairly sure no matter which is was, she would treat him with no more or less hospitality.

"That's new, why'd you make a choice like that?" She responded without missing a beat. She had met enough demons that angels existing too made more sense then not. She'd learned a long time ago that nature tended to have balance. Where there was destruction there was creation, so a balance to demons simply made sense. She was no particular religion but rather a little bit of everything so it didn't bother her there either. She believed all religions had a kernel of truth, and many had angelic beings so why not? So she waited for his answer with a smile on her face. She still petted the cat and nothing in her demeanor had really changed.

(( Hai, that's alright *Hug* get some rest.))
Samael smirked at her nearly instant response, but his eyes became harsh and distant as he thought of the answer to her question. "Let's just say I had a... disagreement with the higher-ups." He said, trying to keep the bitterness out of his voice. "Now I roam the earth in search of truth. When I do not find what I seek, I tend to take the time to observe the culture and history around me. The past is invaluable, and even if the mortals that dig it up have no respect, at least I can say I do, I lived though most of it." he mused, dry humor tinging his voice.
He drank the last of his water, then absentmindedly cracked his knuckles as he continued. "Now that that is settled, perhaps you would be so kind as to show the ruins to me? That is, as long as there are no objections to my presence there." he said, partially out of wanting to respect the spirits, and partially because he really didn't feel like having an angry horde of ghosts after him today, he had far too much of that at his last expedition.
