I'm a bit curious about this. What are songs that you listen to that make you really think about the lyrics? What are the songs that make you feel happy inside, that maybe even inspire you to be a better person?

Myself? I'm very into old music. I'm only 21 but the first music I remember listening to was classic rock. I was raised on tunes from the '60s and '70s and that type of music will always be my favorite. I love songs with meaning, which is where the idea for this thread came from. :yes:
Now I can't pick one song that makes me think about what it means, that makes me feel happy. There are simply too many! :lol: Some bands make me do it a lot though. The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are a couple of those bands.

Rarely do I hear 'new' music that effects me like that, and it kind of depresses me. :no: If there is new music I don't know about that makes you happy, makes you think, or inspires you, I'd love to know about it! ^_^

Songs that make me think. Hm. I'm.. Not quite sure how to explain which "Types" of music make me really think about the lyrics. I don't really even know if there are any of them. Well, some songs that help me get through homework or get me into the mood of doing work are probably only songs by Celine Dion and OneRepublic.
I always get into... Well, some kind of zone, when I listen to Evanescence, "Welcome to the Black Parade", and other songs.

I was just talking about Led Zeppelin earlier! We were filming a project for media studies at Boleskine House which Jimmy Page used to own. There's a lot of satanic history with the place (Crowley used to own it, so you can see why) and in the song 'Stairway To Heaven' there is the creepiest subliminal message that I've ever heard within it. D;

As for a song that makes me happy, it's got to be 'On The Brightside' by NeverShoutNever.



Basically what the song is getting at is you can be whatever you want to be. So when life puts you down, you can get yourself right back up there.

Or, 'Lego House' by Ed Sheeran really makes me happy.



The song is basically a metaphor for a relationship. It kept me going through a rough patch that I had in September-November. This has now become my favourite song of all time.

Though, like you, I tend to prefer older music ('70s and '80s are my favourite decades). I will listen to anything though.

The only song I know by Celine Dion is My Heart Will Go On because I was absolutely obsessed with the movie Titanic when I was a little girl. XD My grandparents even got me a music box that plays that song, when I was 8, and I still have it.

I think a lot of songs by Evanescence have meaning, which I enjoy. My Immortal is one of my favorite songs ever. So-called 'Emo' bands like My Chemical Romance, I think they also have meaning. I mean, yeah a lot of their stuff is depressing, and dramatic. BUT at least they aren't nonsensical pop bullshit. >.>; I mean like....Famous Last Words > Whip My Hair. :lol:

I can't watch those videos right now (my boyfriend is playing Halo and I don't know if it would mess up his connection. :lol: ) but to be honest, I tend to avoid music by NeverShoutNever, and the reason has nothing to do with the music. In fact, the only song I've heard by them I liked. I went to school with Christofer Drew, I actually dated him for a second (though I'm not sure if it counts since we were 12 haha) and when I saw him on MTV I got crazy jealous and said that I would never listen to his music. -.-; One of my more petty decisions. :sweat:

That's the subliminal message from 'Stairway To Heaven'. It's from the middle part about a bustle in the hedgerow. That message is so creepy when you actually hear it backwards. It actually put me off the song a little, and it's one of my favourites too. The same happened with 'Hotel California' (which played in the car to Boleskine today) so I freaked a little haha.

There are quite a few creepy subliminal messages. Like one Beatles song had things hidden about Paul McCartney getting killed. A Yoko Ono song had her saying "I shot John Lennon" and then there was obviously the two I previously mentioned. A few funny ones were in there too though, like 'Another One Bites The Dust' changing to 'It's fun to smoke marijuana' and then basically every Britney song involves her wanting to have sex. xD

Pfft, I could live with the snobbyness. He's one of my many (many many -many-) dream husbands. xD Tennis, music...they're so similar. ;D

XD My nana a couple years ago found a drawing when she was cleaning out a closet, that I drew when I was like 11 of us getting married, and on the back I had written what we were going to do when we grew up- including where we'd live and what our kids names would be. She showed it to me and I was totally mortified! It was so embarrassing. :oops: :rofl:

True, she didn't really hide them too well ('If You Seek Amy' for example ;D). I can't remember what song it was, but one of them definitely said "fuck me now, I'm not too young" which was a little 'whoaaa, Britney. Simmer!' haha.

I really want to be creepy and ask things like what his hair smelled like and things, but I will control my fangirl instincts haha. I hate finding drawings and things that I did from years ago, mainly because my art hasn't improved. xD

I have quite small hands, they're sort of like babies hands. Dimples and everything. I've also got quite bendy fingers, so it makes hitting the keys easier.

Me too! That's where I started listening to Celine Dion :P. And, unlike most singers, when I went to the library, rented an album by her, and listened to the rest of her music, it was actually good. That's so awesome of them! :D

@Kitami: Ah, everyone describes my hands as baby hands. They have the chub and the dimples and everything. xD Aw, that sucks. My hands are reasonably steady. My left hand causes some bother though because I tore two ligaments in that hand before.

Mine is from (I think) a combination of insane stress and nerve damage.

Alura:: I need lyrics, and most video game music I've heard is only instrumental. Some of the music in my boyfriend's video games is really lovely though.
