The reason why I ask this is because Easter has finally descended upon us. I respect all religious and spiritual backgrounds that people may have. So, what is your religion or spiritual connection? And what do you celebrate?

P.S. I remind those who decide to post here keep an open mind about the views of others and respect them accordingly. No Judgement. :D

Nice topic you got here. Lets see... to start off i celebrate Easter, but not just because of the Easter Bunny and the Easter eggs and stuff i celebrate it because as a christian we believe that Easter was Jesus's resurrection. We also celebrate Christmas because it is Jesus's birthday. The rest of the holidays we celebrate(not for any religious reasons though) Except for Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. It not that we have anything against it, my family just doesn't celebrate it.

I don't celebrate holidays. When I have kids I may but I'm not religious so I see no reason to celebrate religious holidays.

What about non-religious holidays, like the 4th of July?

I'm an atheist, but I still celebrate holidays like christmas and halloween. Because the reason is the season.

For Canada Day, I go watch fireworks but it's more so just to be around friends than the actual holiday itself. Plus I've been going since I was little so it's kind of tradition.

I'm an atheist, and I celebrate everyday. Why? Because I'm alive and I'm safe and I'm happy.

I was baptized in a Catholic church because my mother was Catholic and that's what she wanted. So I've always been immersed in the Catholic faith but I've never embraced it as a person. I've always admired other people who have embraced Jesus as their Lord and Savior or whatever other religious belief they had, but I've always felt as if I was more spiritual than religious.

I'm atheist so I do not celebrate Easter at all. Nor do I support the over commercialized nonsense society has turned Easter into either. Easter is a religious holiday for those that believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Easter bunnies and baskets and bullshit are just a way for a-holes to milk stupid people.

Though I do find it ironic that this and many other Christian/Catholic holidays have become overshadowed by other meaning seeing as these days were stolen from pagan religions and a Jesus sticker was pasted on them.

But either way, no celebrating for me. Perhaps some of the more modern customs of Easter would be nice to partaking in, though as a way to celebrate spring and new life; not "Easter." My children will have no Easter bunnies or Easter baskets but perhaps I will use modern traditions mixed with ones since past to create a time to enjoy spring and its bounty with no god(s) clouding the fun.

I do believe that the majority of the religious events are largely blown up. My mom and dad celebrate Easter as well as the other Catholic overrated events that unfold throughout the year. I've never really been the one to parttake in them because I just dont believe in it and I dont see the point. It bugs me when I'm open to people and their religious beliefs but they stomp on the fact that I'm spiritual. :/

I was raised Catholic, went to a Catholic school and everything. My parents believe in god and such but they never actively practiced it. They rarely went to church or did much of anything besides I assume praying. Of course since I was in a Catholic school we were taken to church very often and learned all the rituals and such.

However, what always bugged me was come Easter my parents felt this need to go to church. It felt hypocritical. They rarely, if ever, went to one so what was the point of going one day out of the year? What made the day so special you would wake up and drag me to church, to wear a dress I didn't like and act all faithful but every other Sunday was sleep in day.

We stopped doing it as I got older, at times my dad would mention he'd want to go on Easter but didn't. Even when I was religious I wasn't a fan of church so there was no love loss when we stopped going. Just don't get why people use holidays as an excuse to act special...if you love god then love him everyday.

Non-denominational Christian here. XD
I did take part in Lent where I gave up on chocolates from Ash Wednesday to Easter Friday. I'm not comfy in personally taking part in masses because I've never been baptised, nor do I really affiliate myself with any sect yet but I have attended.

I also have some Buddhist practices as cultural leftovers and since I used to be a Buddhist as well.
There's Loy Krathong from my region of the country where we leave floats for the water goddess. We're country folk so we make it out of all natural products like cut up a banana tree and use both the trunk and leaves.
Then we let them go in the water (modern city folks tend to use styrofoam >.<). So many lights in the water and in the air.

I am supposed to celebrate Passover, but I'm not very religious, so I had a passover dinner, and then drew a happy face on an egg for easter :D Lol

I'm not religious, but I wouldn't try and isolate myself from the holidays because of it. I join in because it's something to be excited about!

I agree so much with what Usako said. The commercialization of holidays is awful. If I have to give a present, I prefer to make it myself or give hand-me-downs. I hate consumerism.
