So I've decided to do draw and or paint a series of about 11 pictures about some of the disasters that happened in the past 100 years. I already have a draft done for the one about Japan, I'll post it here later.

The reason I made this thread is because I want to know peoples thoughts on this, if it's a good idea or not, and would it offend you if you were affected by the disasters.

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, feel free to move it if it's not.

I think that if YOU want to do a series expressing YOUR feelings on the disasters then why care what other people think? I think it would be a cool idea to see interpretation of the disasters personally.

Don't worry of what others find offensive.
You'll never make yourself happy with your art,if you try to please everyone.
If anything, I'd say do the opposite.
You're still getting a reaction and that's better than no reaction.

it cant be offensive. it's your art and if YOU like it then that's really all that matters.

I think it would be a great idea. As for some people getting offended.. They might if you write or show a really bad picture, or say something that could offend them.(I don't think you'd do that) But yeah I think it would be a great idea. :]

It sounds like a good idea to me. Just because events have tragic consequences doesn't mean they shouldn't be remembered. History is important to remember.

Art is mainly about feeling, in my opinion. So, if people are offended by them, that's an emotion. Not all art is going to be liked. Do it if it's something you want to try.

Do it, if it hurts and raises up feelings, you have created art. But if you are painting something actually offencing there, like you riding happily on tsunami, you're just an -

Just do it. Sounds grate and can't wait to see what will come out of this.
As for people being offended, don't worry about them. They will get over it. Some people have this weird hobby of being offended by art.
If you don't like it, don't look. It's easy.

That sounds like a really cool idea. I wish you the best of luck if you decide to continue onto it! And if it offends people? Good. What's a little controversy for some artistic spotlight? ;] But really, go for it. I don't see many being offended by it.
