We did things a little backwards. He was ready 3 months in and I wasn't ready yet. So I know he has the ring but not when he will propose.

It's pretty easy to get into substitute teaching. Just check your local independent school district website for the requirements and the application.
@Storm: I remember now! Yeah, 3 months is a liiiittle soon. My first engagement was 4 months in and it did not end well. Not doing that again!

I got engaged only once, somewhere about three years in. We were ready earlier (or at least, I was) but we both thought extended engagements were silly and we knew we wouldn't get married until at least one of us had graduated.

@steelmagghia I wanted to make sure that he was the one. But now I know that he is my heart and soul, the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with.

I really like the special ed kids in elementary, though. For some reason I like dealing with them.
|
Yeah, thats exactly what I'd bet would happen. I've always had issues with the middle schoolers. I've worked with them, and they're a very bratty and disrespectful group. They make me grumpy very easily. And i've worked with the highschool tutors, and they're so useless and rude that I couldn't imagine not being angry all the time from working with high schoolers.
Kids are a lot easier to get to mind. Older kids have far more attitude and are a lot more likely to rebel against rules. Younger kids are easier to control, because you just have to threaten them with calling their parents, and that will generally work pretty well. xP
I get a bit too impatient working with special needs students if they're with the regular group of kids. Its too much work instructing a group of 20 kids, and having a special needs kid that needs special treatment, which generally will set off the other children. There is a boy in our afterschool program, and i'm not sure what the name is of what he has, but he can be very difficult to work with sometimes. When I worked with the 3rd grade class, I use to have to send him to the teacher's aid that generally works with him throughout regular day because he was just too much to keep up with while trying to work with the other kids. And i'd just get so grouchy trying to do homework with the kids and have him starting fights with the children or yelling in the corner or something. I'm sure a special ed class where you can work with them all in their own setting would be much nicer, though. He's a very sweet and much better well-behaved kid now that he's a little bit older, though. :) I was working with the kids at the pool the last two Fridays because they had swim days, and he'd spend the majority of the time following me around. The second day he'd followed me with a chair because he wanted me to be able to sit down if I wanted to. :) It was very sweet.

Heh. I strongly suggest working with them for awhile before you really get into that much. My best friend has wanted to teach elementary school students for years, and then we were both working for an afterschool program, and she learned a lot of what it was like. It completely changer her mind.
