So, I just watched Lakeview Terrace, which is about a black cop trying to force an interracial couple out of his neighborhood. I didn't think the main villain (Samuel L Jackson) would be so blatantly racist and aggressive, but damn, I was wrong.

Before that, I watched 1408. All I really have to say, is that Stephen King truly is a master of torture and horror. Just remember guys, don't go in 1408!

But really, both of these movies shock, and disturb me a little. Overall, I would say that those are both some great movies.

Anyone else know good horror/thriller/maybeSamLJacksonmovies?

If you want to talk about truly disturbing films, there's A Serbian Film, but I really don't recommend that to even the biggest horror/gore fans. It's absolutely disgusting.

Pet Semetary and Hellraiser are a couple favorites of mine. There's also Funny Games (I prefer the American version), Shadow Puppets, and all of the Children of the Corn films.

Funny Games is essentially about this duo who invades a family's vacation home and proceeds to play "games" with them. Preeeetty disturbing, well-made film.

Shadow Puppets isn't much of a gore fest or a great movie, but for a horror movie I actually found it quite interesting and suspenseful in some ways. It's about a group of people who get locked in an abandoned asylum and are tormented and killed off by an unknown being. Throughout the movie they're trying to escape and/or find a way to defeat this thing, which is difficult because they don't have the slightest hankering of what it is.

Children of the Corn is best to be watched. It has mixed reviews, but the first movie is in my top five favorite horror films. I have a thing for cults, though.

I liked 1408! It was neato.

The only movie that I felt really uncomfortable watching was "The Last House on the Left." It's about two girls who are beaten, raped, and one of them is killed, though they meant to kill them both. Revenge is sought, etc. Vague yes, but I don't want to spoil it too much, though I wouldn't recommend seeing it.

I get the story, that's fine, but the rape scene made me uncomfortable. They got a little too far into the detail of the scene, and for a few minutes, it's like I was watching a porn, instead of a horror movie.

Hey RetroTV, I'm going to move this on over to the media forum. :)

Hmm, it's not really disturbing, but I liked Samuel L. Jackson in Unbreakable, which was something of a thriller.

I didn't find Silence of the Lambs to be overly disturbing, but most people do. American Psycho too, but it's kind of a satire.

1408 was amazing!

The only movie that really disturbed me was Haunting in Conneticut. Not even sure why, but it scared the bejezzus out of me while watching with my bf and his best friend!

The Human Centipede. I heard about it in a chatroom, then I found out what it was. I will never watch that movie. The concept makes me feel sick.

IT is a horrifying movie. I watched it when I was six years old and it has haunted me since. Blergh - I hate clowns too.

I feel horrible for the cast in that movie. I heard that the director made a sequel. I don't know who would want to watch that wretched film!

The most disturbing movies would have to be sound of music and Oklahoma :XD

I swear they should be under the horror category.

I don't think I've encountered a movie for which the content actually disturbs me at this point, although there are some that I'm intending to check out at some point that might (Including one that I cannot possibly afford. £80 used, £200 new seems to be about the price it goes for in the UK. Forget the title, but I could probably find out).

That the Dungeons and Dragons movie managed to suck despite having both Richard O'Brien, Tom Baker, and

SPOILERX

two armadas of dragons fighting
in it is pretty disturbing conceptually, however. Although, to be fair, Richard O'Brien's sequence is the best thing in the film...

Repo: The Genetic Opera. That movie freaks me the f out. I know it's extremely popular, and I might get some crud for saying I hated it, but omg that movie was sooooooo wrong. So disturbing. So nasty. So twisted. YES, I know that's why people liked it, but I didn't like it for the exact same reason.

The first film that popped into my mind is A Serbian Film. I haven't seen it personally, and I have no intentions to see it any time in the future. ;ovo

Just reading the summary of it makes me sick to my stomach.

No Country for Old Men is probably one of the most horrific movies I've seen. And it's not because it's overtly scary or the villian is on the top end of creepy villains (though both of these are true). It's the subtext, the simple nature of the actions of the movie. The fact that Chigurh (the villain) is completely evil yet he seems to follow more rules than the supposed hero.
It's super disturbing and the movie is a masterpiece.

Oh, I remembered one that disturbed me! Wolf Creek. That was... thoroughly disturbing. Thoroughly disturbing. It's about three tourists in Australia whose car breaks down out in the middle of nowhere and they're picked up by a Crocodile Dundee-type. He drugs them and they wake up in various sheds at his house, and are tortured. They try to get away, and it just doesn't go so well. >> *shudder*

I couldn't get past the first scene in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Something about it terrified me to no end and I refused to watch it. The same goes for the entire Human Centipede franchise. I've read about the plot on Wikipedia and I couldn't believe how sick the writers were. Like seriously - the director has to be on a WHOLE other level in terms of amoral disregard towards human life.

As for the movies I have seen, I can never watch The Ring or The Last House on The Left (The original) again without freaking out and crying. I'm not a fan of psychologically creepy children or movies that show the actual rape happening.

Not even halfway through A Serbian Film and I couldn't take it anymore. It was just too horrible, even though I (thought that I) can handle gore and sexual deviancy quite well. The concepts were too horrible and flat-out sickening. Reading the entirety of the plot later made me so glad that I stopped, and so disgusted that I attained full knowledge of the story. It's a wretched film, and no amount of bile fascination will make it worth the watch, trust me and all the others who came before this post.

Watch the Vengeance Trilogy by Park Chan-wook.
They're not connected, just three great movies, the most famous is Oldboy.
It's a bit gory (not as in guts gory but realistic violence). It's very realistic, looks into humans and does not give that Hollywood ending.
A lot of Korean movies are great in that aspect. Joint Security Area (about North and South Korean soldiers befriending one another) and Silmido (based on a true story about death convicts being sent on a suicide mission) are also some suggestions.

xD Not a Korea-phile but I find them to really take a realistic look at humans and don't have that 'good vs bad' guy thing going on all the time.

The movies Chained and Human Centipede are both pretty disturbing. Chained is about a boy who had his mother killed(and possibly, most likely raped) by a serial killer who drove a taxi car. He kept the boy and had him chained inside the house, having him do chores and dispose of the bodies whenever he'd bring a "friend" home. You get to watch the boy grow up and eventually the killer starts to try to teach the boy to take up the trade. It's very brutal and disturbing.

Stephen King's Dreamcatcher disturbed me the most out of all of his movies. Then again, I made the mistake of watching it on a school night. But still, the aliens in it give me the creeps.

Hmm, horror movies don't disturb me much, but The Happening.. for some reason I did not like the feels that movie gave me, even if the plot wasn't the greatest.
