Alec only ran for a few minuets down the road before catching his breath. He placed his hands on his hips and looked around. "Which way is it? Left or right?" He took the left and continued down the road at a slight jog. It wasn't too long until he saw the shop he was looking for. It was in the middle of town and there were a large number of people pouring in and out of the shop. "They might as well install a revolving door." He said quietly.
He walked in and saw that the book store was quite large. It was on 3 floors and not an inch was spared. There were bookshelves from floor to ceiling packed with books covering almost every genre. It was eerily quite in the shop with people milling about, reading or whispering to one another. "Alec!" The sharp whisper nearly caused him to jump out of his skin. But he recognised the voice. It was his boss. He was a bit shorter then 5' 10" but was rather portly and made him look shorter. He was wearing a karkhi tweed suit and looked like he had come out of a period drama. But his glasses, receding hairline and moustache put him in the twenty first century. "You're late. Because of that, your going to have to work into your lunch brake to make up for lost time." The man gave a deep sigh and turned to leave Alec standing there. "Well get to it!" He said with a bit of spite in his voice. Alec had already placed hatred on the man and knew that it wouldn't be as easy as he thought. Alec went into the back room and dropped off his jacket along with his phone. He didn't feel comfortable leaving his stuff there but, there were only him and two other people working in the shop excluding his boss who had vanished.
Alec was hacked off that he had to work into his lunch break but he had no idea when it started. He found a co-worker and they said lunch started at one thirty. "Shit... I'll be late." He had no way to contact the girl but just hoped that he wouldn't have to be too late. He sat at the counter and out his elbow on the table and rested his chin in his hand. He was already bored, he wasn't sure why he took the job, he just did. Slowly people started to come to the counter and purchase what they needed. The day passed slowly but he watched the clock slowly tick to one thirty. When he saw his boss appear and walk across the room and disappear again. Alec quickly got up and left the shop stepping in to the hot summer afternoon. He remembered that he didn't know how to get to the cafe. He asked people for directions but they said that they had never heard of the Queen of Tarts. He then asked for just the street, and found his way there he walked up and down the street and didn't see the cafe. "Where the hell is it?" He walked up and down some more until he saw Karla standing infront of what looked like an abandoned building.
