There are a lot of songs around that focus on the coolness of being famous--riches, girls, the clubbing. But recently I've found a couple songs that talk about how hard it is to be famous.
and
what do ya'll think of this? Do you know of other songs with this kind of theme?

Actually the song I'm currently listening to is a bit related to "being cool" or moreso the "lack of being cool enough" type thing and how headphones somehow magically heals that XD
As for what it's like? Honestly I don't know. If I ever went that path I'd definitely go with an alias and keep it as from from my personal life as possible XD
headphones magically heal not being cool?? really, I want that trick!
I don't think I could ever be famous. I like my privacy and my independence too much. And really, how can you really tell what people think of you if everyone just knows you as 'that guy on tv'. I wonder if an alias would really work? people would still recognize you on the street.
I think it's different if you're a writer though. People expect them to be antisocial and it's fairly easy to hide your identity. It's different for a singer I think.
That's a cute song, but I get the feeling that voice would drive me nuts if the song was any longer. Seems it's about being okay to be unique.
That's true... though I've seen some singers have managed to do it.
Then again there's also people like The Stig in a show I've been watching which, he's quite famous but as of right now nobody has a clue who he is. So if you sang in a suit...
I thought so too... but it's surprisingly amusing...
Interesting... well I guess for being lesser known that works right? If they get well known chances are they'll be discovered and their names will be sprayed all over the internet
I agree, thought they're pretty about being anonymous so far. I can't even figure out what nationality Mucho Gracias is because he doesn't look like he's fully asian. I would assume he's part spanish or something, but I can't confirm. Their website is very sparse and that's where I've found the most information.
I know one of the musicians for Kiryu has never showed his face in front of a camera unless there's something from the band he was in before, but he always has some sort of veil or mask on.
I think it is a nice change to see the other side of being a celebrity.
So many people think it would be great to be rich & famous, but they don't think about what that would do to their life. I mean celebrities can't really have a private life. People/fans/paparazzi want to know everything about them & the more popular they get the less chance they have to have any sort of normal private life. They have to put on a show or keep a certain image to keep their fans happy. They have to deal with paparazzi trying to take pictures of them when they look their worst. Some days you just don't want to get dressed up & who would really want to wear makeup all the time. I can't imagine the toll it would take on their families, especially those that aren't celebrities.
btw...thanks for posting that video from Se7en, I hadn't seen it before. I do like listening to him.
you're so right Damia. I think any relationship, family or love, would be hard with a celebrity. I know people choose to become idols and they love their fans adoration, but it must be so tiring. I think this is the real side of it. You should never try to be famous just because of the things gangsters rap about.
it's a great song right? One of my favorites by Se7en, though I don't know a lot of his music.
I haven't actually listened to the song in a while, but when it was first released....in the early noughties I liked it, and I thought it was amusing that Sting did a collaboration with the Sugababes the same year with similar sounding instrumental music.
I'm surprised no ones mentioned Good Charlotte's "Life Styles of the Rich and the Famous" it was one of their earlier songs and did a pretty good job outlining what it was like to be popular.
Ling: I listened to that song and now I'm sure I've heard it before. The lyrics are really beautiful I think. A song about how easy it is to change into a less lovable person when fame is involved.
Codette: oh nice, that song is a different view from a lot of the other ones that have been posted. That song is from the common man's perspective, not the famous person. It's also very true lyrics.
Blake: Why do those sorts of songs make you feel cool?
