Ok, so i want to hear what you think is the most underratted and unknown bands that deserve more attention. This is a place to share that music that is sort of... your thing that you listen to alone or in the car, that you wish other people knew about to share the awesomeness with them. I'm looking for what they are, and if you like why they are so awesome. Here are three example groups that I wish more people knew about. These ones can all be found on youtube (not all of their stuff but a few songs)

Two ton Boa
Cynical lead-base alterna-rock with a powerful female vocalist with an amazing range. This is what i listen to when I'm feeling playfully morbid. Also after a few of my shittier breakups. Two of my favorites are "Porcelain Throne", or "Bleeding Heart".

Shiva in Exile
good for fighting/training music and meditation, also sometimes character theme songs, really intense sort of hindu power orchestra... hard to describe. really good though. also they do quite a bit of softer music too. If I had a personal theme song, especially when I'm fighting, it would be "Nomad"

Unleash the archers
crazy epic metal with an amazingly strong female tenner. if you are in for that sorta thing, listening to these guys is a total adrenaline rush. Its one of those bands where you want to sing along, but its probably best not to try because the main singer Brittany is ridiculous.

Oh, haha, I have tons of bands no one has ever seemed to have heard of. Indica, which is an all-female Finnish band, similar to Nightwish I think, but a different sort of sound. That's my top at the moment, I'll have to look through my music to find more.

No matter where I go no one knows who Saosin, Cute Is What We Aim For, or Forever The Sickest Kids are.

I think they are all considered new age punk.
(Well I know FTSK is..)

Saosin is amazing in they're lyrics and there all around sound.

Cute Is What We Aim For I love for they're more mellowness.
And for the fact that they are a fans band.

Forever The Sickest Kids is a major fans band.
They're the nicest people I have ever met.

I've never heard of them, either. What country are they from?

Oh! I just thought Saosin was from elsewhere, given the unique name. I'll have to look them up

Hm, let's see. First I'd recommend Tides of Man. They are a progressive rock band with a really inventive musical and lyrical style. Lots of interesting patterns and hidden depth and subtleties that will take you several listens to fully appreciate. In particular I recommend the album Empire Theory.

Also, Kevin Devine. He is a folk singer-songwriter and an absolutely incredibly lyricist. His album Put Your Ghost to Rest has more listens than anything else in my library. It's my favorite album.

@Kenome: I really liked Cute is What We Aim For in high school and I still love Saosin. ^^

David Crowe has had my attention for awhile. He's an amazing beatboxer, and his dubstep is insane.

It's awesome to know that someone else knows them.

@PWEEP,
I don't think they're from somewhere else.

@Kenome: Daww. <3

But I should note that, like I said in your Warped Tour thread, I am way out of the loop. I have no idea what either band is doing now or what they have done in the last five or six years. The last I remember from Saosin is their self-titled album from 2006, and the last I remember from Cute is What We Aim For are the songs There's a Class for This and Curse of Curves, also from 2006 I believe. Also, fun fact: I just realized the most common release year in my library is 2006! I am an old person. ._.

FTSK new CD is coming out June 25th this year.
Saosin is still a band and their CD In Search of Solid Ground came out in 2009.
And Cute Is What We Aim For had Rotation released on June 24, 2008.

LOL

And that's fine if all your music is from 2006.
Most of my music is Blood On The Dance Floor and My Chemical Romance.

I think Forever the Sickest Kids appeared just after the time that I was obsessively searching for new music, so I never got into them although I've heard the name. But that's good to know! It doesn't sound like I've missed a lot. :/ I might check out new Saosin though. I don't know; there are so many bands I loved in high school and just stopped following. It would be nice to check in with all of them.

It's not all from then, but a lot is. 2007 and 2008 have a lot too, haha. I just don't buy lots of music like I used to.

Ahh MCR. I will always love their album You Brought Me Your Bullets, I Brought You My Love. It's their last album where their post-hardcore influences really come out. Unless, of course, they've returned to their roots since The Black Parade, since I haven't paid attention to their new stuff either, haha.

Stephanie Mabey - If i were a zombie, official lyric video - YouTube

She has a very good voice and that song is just so amusing...
Not sure if she plays with anyone but that's definitely a hidden gem to me ^^

Poet: That zombie song is pretty awesome. I think I might look into the artist now.

I think even within kpop circles I find that very few people know of the newer group AA (double A). I've been doing kpop related polls on another site for people to pick their favorite group and AA is the only that didn't get a single vote. They have some ridiculously catchy songs though like "So Crazy" and "Come Back".

Yeah I was shocked when I saw it and played it for days XD

Other than that I'm pretty unexposed to music though I will definitely have to browse this thread when I need new music

Vox,
I was more into Green Day's cd Dookie.
Punk-wise at least.
And MCR is not a band anymore.
They broke up recently.

Ooh, I definitely know of some!

South Jordan
Sort of alt-pop with a little r&b influence. They played at my college last year and I was instantly in love! They've taken down some of their videos (and didn't have many up to begin with >>), but here's a good one. Hush, Hush

Old Crow Medicine Show
Old Timey as hell. Not what I'm usually into, but they're just so good! Here's the song that got me into them: Wagon Wheel

Murder By Death
Oh gosh, how do I even describe them... Sort of alt-rock indie folk? I'm not actually sure of how well known these guys are, but I never hear people talking about them, so I'd assume not so well. Here's a song of theirs that's just so cool, and it has the best music video: White Noise

I'll probably come back with some more later.

Actually, I could probably share this group, St. Terrible. I recently picked up a free cd from the mail room on campus. The cd was in a case made from cardboard and tape, with the info written with a sharpie. I somewhat assume they're a student band (not strange since I go to an art school and we have a music program), but actually, I don't know. All I have is the facebook link--> https://www.facebook.com/St.Terrible
But their music is pretty good. The cd was folk music with some rock influence. Though from a fb comment I saw, they're moving away from that.

Cherry: I like that song Hush, hush. Too bad they're taking down some of their videos.

Oh! I love this idea... mind if I share?

I LOVE GLOBUS!! I swear none of my friends, family, or students have heard of them until I came along... well... except for one student and he really made my day. Globus is the band that is part of Intermediate Music. And may I say... epic!

maidenroseheart: The fact that they're Ambient Rock. That has to be my most favorite music genre (that's why RED comes second in my favorite underrated bands even though they recently came out with another album and I know a few people who actually like them). And the fact that Adam Roth's voice matches the genre so well makes me love it so much. Also what the songs are about. Not stuff you here in everyday music. Like death, losing someone you love most, the beauty of making love, someone going mad, and so on...(unless it's me interpreting the songs wrong haha).

Just poppin' in here but there is a band called Kingsfoil that I use to listen to a lot. Haven't actually listened to them in over 4 years but I've got at least two of their CDs. They use to play at my college a lot. They consider themselves as "indie pop rock." And naturally, thinking of them is getting me to pull out the CDs and re-listen to them.

I'm currently into the new We The Kings song and getting excited for the new album. Though I don't really know how "unknown" I would consider them with the song they recorded with Demi Lovato a few years back ("We'll Be A Dream").
