Do you know much about the different ages of comic books?

I know a little about them.

The Golden Age of comics is considered to be from late 1930's until the early 1940's or early 1950's.
Some of the best known superheroes started during this time, including: Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, BatMan, Captain America, the Human Torch, The Flash, Hawkman & the Green Lantern.
After World War II the popularity of some of the superheroes was diminishing & some of the titles were canceled as comic book companies decided to try different genres. This leads to the end of the Golden Age of comics.

The Silver Age of comics began around 1956 until around 1970.
It saw a comeback of many of the superheroes & many great artist & writers came from this time period.
Jack Kirby was one of them, he & Joe Simon had created Captain America during the Golden Age of comics. During the Silver Age of comics he was responsible for helping co-create The Fantastic Four, the Hulk & the X-Men with Stan Lee. His style of art was the standard for Marvel during that time.
Of course the name Stan Lee is well known. He has been everything from a comic book writer/editor/publisher to a television host/actor/voice actor. He is the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. He loves to make cameo appearances in Superhero movies.
He co-created some well known superheroes with Steve Ditko also, including: Spider-Man & Doctor Strange.

The Bronze Age of comics runs from around 1970 until 1985. It still includes many of the superheroes from the previous ages, but it sees them in darker plots.
This age of comics showed some of the social concerns of the time & dealt with tough subjects.
Gwen Stacy's death & Harry Osborn's drug addiction were storylines in the Spider-Man comics.
Green Lantern & Green Arrow also had to deal with drug addiction when Speedy became addicted to heroine.
Also during this time period more woman superheroes were being introduced, including: Spider-Woman, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel & Red Sonja.
It also saw more minority superheroes begin to appear, including: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Storm, Cyborg, Black Lightning & Blade.

The Modern Age of comics started around 1985 to the present. It has been more grim themes.
This time period has also seen the rise of anti-heroes.
Some of the better known of them have included: Wolverine, Lobo, Punisher, Elektra, John Constantine & the Watchmen.

Now a little something to get a conversation going.

Which age of comics have you read?
I have had the opportunity to read some of all of the ages.

What comic book titles are your favorites?

Which format do you prefer, regular comic books or trade paperbacks?
