Quote:
20 Practical Uses for Coca Cola… Proof That Coke Does Not Belong In the Human Body

If you haven't read this article, you'll probably wonder where this whole thing came from..

So now, ummm, about this. Is anyone else having a hard time believing this? I mean, Coke's been around for forever. Why are issues only popping up now? And some of those comments aren't solely related to Coke; they are for all soft drinks. And did anyone else notice that the 20 things it's good for are really only two things -- rust and oil? o.O;

What are your thoughts? Also, check out some of the comments. Gotta love some of the points people are bringing up!

I believe it, these kind of facts have been known forever too. I've not checked the article, but I know that Coca Cola use the concerntrated syrup of the drink to degrease the engines of those big trucks of theirs.

It's like anything, it's accepted simply because it's been around for years. No other reason than that. Same as smoking is. If nicotine was newly discovered now, it would probably be a class A illegal drug. But because it's been around for years the facts that it's one of the most addictive substances ever, and gives people lung cancer, is brushed aside by most.

If fizzy drinks were a new thing, they'd have one hell of a job getting past various health bodies and onto the shop shelves. Because there's nothing about them that isn't toxic to the body, even if some of it is in a fairly small way. But rotting kids teeth out of their heads is a pretty damn big thing. ><

Well i like Pepsi than Coca-Cola hahaha. Anyway I really don't drink too much soda. Water is good because it helps you lose weight. Maybe it’s because I drink a glass of water before each meal, plus while I am eating, but I've noticed that I definitely get full faster and am taking in less food without feeling deprived. This has been an easy way to kick up my weight loss efforts. Since I am always drinking water, I start my runs already hydrated and don’t have to take in as much water to stay on top of my hydration. When I am well hydrated, I run better–my times are better, I don’t feel sluggish and it takes longer for me to feel tired. I did not expect simply drinking water would be so beneficial to my running. Although most people refer to the benefits of drinking water to flush out toxins that come from our food and the environment, the best proof I have is how water helps to prevent hangovers and minimizes the effects of alcohol. This is probably more of a hydration effect than a toxin-flush effect. I noticed before that whenever I had a glass of wine the night before a run, I used to feel pretty sluggish and drained during my run. Now that I am taking in extra water, I can have a glass of wine and still feel fine for my run the next day. Being able to drink more alcohol is definitely not one of the benefits I expected from drinking water….but I’ll take it! Some says that your skin gets plumped up and dewy because you are hydrated. I don’t know about that, but I am definitely breaking out less and generally having fewer skin problems since I started drinking more water. I don’t know why, I just know that I feel more alert and have fewer days when I hit the afternoon slump since I started drinking more water. So try to drink water instead of Soda!

I'm reading the article now, but when I first looked at this, I recalled how Coke is used to clean up blood stains. That stuff gets everywhere and if Coke can eat through it, it's a scary thing XD

I remember someone doing an experiment with coke once with a tooth that a dentist had removed from them. They placed the tooth into a cup of coca-cola and left it there, changing the beverage every day with new coke. After a few weeks the tooth became all soft and rubbery in texture. Freaky. D:

I think soda is a bit like smoking. It's not AS bad as smoking, but the point is that for probably hundreds of years people thought smoking actually had health benefits. Also, no company is going to advertise that soda can cause diabetes or eat through rust when they want you to consume it. So I believe that it's always been bad, but people are just beginning to admit it.

That said I've never tried it for any of those things. I've seen mythbusters do many of them, though, and so I believe that coke works to dissolve rust etc.
