It might be a good idea to do raffle tickets or something instead of guaranteeing a prize... like, if your team is the first to pass point 1, 5 random team members get prizes. We could do it the other way with unlimited funds, but we currently have a bit less than 6000g free, and not enough items to reward every single player even for one game. That said, that could be a really cool place to give out all those shovels and hammers and such, if they're having to dig through things or build ramps or stuff.

... I think a week or two before the event, I'll try to divide up all of the gold and prizes equally among the threads, and everyone can figure out how to distribute their own prizes? Then any donations we get after that can be random page prizes and such? What do people think?

There's still a lot of way to go, though, and it could be small things at first.
But raffle tickets could be nice, too!

I'd advise asking a mod who's run something similar for advice on any thread you're considering. Obviously ask them after the Valentines event is over with, of course. But they might be able to give you an idea of how many prizes they gave out and warn you what the difficult parts of running each game will be.

Well, I only know the one we had for winter's and there were just some prizes that I can check in the old community threads.

Hangout thread you can put down for the NPC. xD which i can't spell right now without looking. I also suggest little games in there to keep the hangout thread interesting. Like Hangman, or 20 questions. Collect points maybe for participation. every 10 points or even every 100 posts in the thread gets you a raffle ticket to have the chance to get the items of the NPCs costume.

Word games by steelmagghia: is a brilliantly fun game. Will you be doing that questions thing you did this event? Cause its awesome. and word scrambles, word searches. stuff like that? As always... i'm up for helping come up with games in it. Even if I'm not co hosting the thread. But the before the event preperation.
I am so game to be one of the avatar contest hosts. Each one of us would have our specific category correct? We need to set it up like an official event avatar contest i thinks :3 the here is your hosts. here's what they like type thing. murder mystery, choose your own adventure, and the treasure grid game... I kind of have ideas for all of them... and really would like to help with them. Like everything else, even if its pre event preperation. drawing maps. whatever it is.

Specifically for the grid game, i would like to know what kind of grid game was being planned. okay... no.. i just really really love all those styles of grid game. Choose an option from a picture (drawn or photograph) , the captain howdy version, and the grid pick a location for a prize. As well as this new style lately with the choose a direction, move from starting location.

magic carpet race and sand castle are both kind of awesome ideas. We would need to get some drawing going for this as soon as its decided though if it needs a reveal thing like the sculptures.

we have quite awhile to collect prizes. Some games will have more prizes than the others to begin with. My fortune telling one doesn't actually have prizes. its kind of like a hangout. If anything I might do some small gold page prizes. Last year what we did was have the threads that needed more prizes and specific prizes pick from our prize pool first to determine what they would be giving out. than the rest was kind of divided out.

I also have lots of ideas... I think... once someone has claimed a game, they're in charge of it, but people can offer advice and suggestions? It's always good to have input, but it could get kinda crazy if the thread host felt they had to make everyone happy, so I decree people shall be lords-- or ladies-- of their own threads.

What about both aspects of it?
Like, one host takes part of racing and the other of the betting thing?
Imagine picking your friend to win and then they flop... Or they win! You'd have to buy them snacks maybe. And encourage!

That would be an enormous betting pool... maybe ask for volunteers to be carpet jockeys before the event, and randomly select from among those for the betting every day?

But, in the end, I'm still clueless as to what could be done for team event. Because no matter what, it comes out as a dice game somehow. I still like the individual goals for teams idea, though.

Actually, they wouldn't have to be if it was put together with real life or site-wide scavenger game, for example. I think we already discussed the latter one and cast aside, though.

Yeah... while I adored the scavenger hunt Seridano did for FOWN, it wasn't really good for drawing a crowd. The people who were on at the time the clues were put up had a massive advantage, and it wasn't a terribly popular game-- I doubt the thread had 20 participants.

It might be possible to have a team thread with riddles or puzzles or something, but that would require a lot of organization within the teams-- otherwise how would you know which answer to use for each team? The most spontaneous organization you usually see within a team game on Mene is someone taking the role of team pinger.

I won't veto anyone if they have a thread idea they really like that I don't think will work, but I just plain don't see how we could pull off a team game that was any more complicated than a dice game. If someone can prove me wrong, power to them!

team event i was thinking would be a dice game anyways. And i think i missed replying to that one... the obstacles idea is brilliant.
Here is my idea on it. Think of the monster game awhile back before it
got changed into a team thing. When you fought the monster, you beat it, than moved on to the next. So if you do it a team way, instead of monsters each team is say.. ride the camel the first stretch. Than hop on a magic carpet. ect.
and you could do it each thing is a day. and you total up the points for each round.

the hangout you really do want to keep as just the NPC hangout. i'm planning to run mine kind of like Lise's ask the spirits from quite a few events back.

oh as for the betting. you can do a camel race betting thing like that one bee race.. run by... someone. ugh. can't think

Maybe like camel or carpet ride, then going into cave and fighting something, maybe taming/tracking some animals/bandits for another one, stuff like that. :)

That's the plan, yes, hummy. I'm going to have a contest with prizes. Planners will also be allowed to enter, but I'd prefer most of the entries to be from the general public.
