I guess this is a better question for you wyrm, upon payment of the auction, should it be pure gold or should we allow items too?

If it were to include items, I'd say current average market value or current price within shops.

Hm... that's a good question. I would be happy to allow items, and I think I would call it current price in shops/on marketplace. That's probably a lot fairer to the buyers than the average market price-- old sales skew the average waaay down.

I guess a better question would be are we looking for more gold to come from this auction? Or gold and items?

To me, anyone could put the item they plan on paying with and hike up the price in the MP so they don't have to pay as much pure (because the only time it will come up is when payment is due, people will only be bidding with a gold amount during the auction)

I know that average market price is skewed, and way under what many items should be worth, but it's the only way that people can't take advantage of the system (in my opinion). And if people don't like the price, then they'll just have to stick with pure to be more economical.

Edit: I'd be down with using the highest sold price as the item's value, how does that sound?

You do have a very good point there, that the average can't be manipulated nearly as easily... So you're right, we probably should go with the average. I personally don't care whether we get gold or items. I would be happy with either-- we have more than enough gold to cover all of the fees, so from here on out everything is prizes.

Did you see the red edit I made? I think that it is much more fair reflection of something that is closest to current market price. Would you agree?

I guess in the end, should we go with average price? Or top price?

I didn't see it, no. I would definitely agree to highest sold price. Unless it seems really absurdly high, like an item that's always 5k has a high price of 10k or something, but that seems unlikely.

I would point out that currently reef explorer has two listings around 7000 gold that haven't been sold yet. The highest sell price is 12000 gold. Kind of a big difference.

Yeah... that's a fair point. Bleh. I know the average is the most reasonable option, but I hate to feel like I'm short-changing people.

I completely agree. So it's been decided, average price it is?

I think of it as something more that can help someone if they'd like to continue bidding, but they have ran out of pure. And I'd rather have something that is even/easy to figure out for everyone across the board.

Average price sounds reasonable to me.

i always sell and buy at the average price unless the seller refuses to sell at the average.
