I led a sheltered adolescence. As such, when it came time to write about horror movies for my Cinema 101 course... I had little to no point of reference.
So can anyone help me do my homework (no, really!) by suggesting some of the "classic" horror movies? American is preferable for this assignment, but I might watch some others as well if I get really into it.

What are the horror movies you just kind of expect everyone to have seen? Which do you feel lke everyone ought to have seen even if they aren't that popular?

C'mon, help a student out!

I actually haven't seen, like, any horror movies. However, recently I bought Rosemary's Baby and I'm pretty sure that's one of the classics.

Night of the Living Dead (the birth of the zombie genre, do not pass this one up), the Exorcist, Dawn of the Dead 2004 remake*, The Ring, the Grudge, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shining, The Silence of the Lambs... actually, if you type "classic horror movies" into google, it just gives you this neat dark gray bar at the top with a bunch you can scroll through.

* more for its relevance for modern conversations. More people now are probably familiar with that as compared to the original. I haven't seen the original, so I can't say how they compare.

I watched Halloween tonight and hired Friday the 13th, Saw, Nightmare on Elm St and something else I can't remember as well. It's gonna be a fun week.

Lemme know if you see any good ones. I've only seen the first five on that list I gave you.

Will do I'm not sure what constitutes "good" though as they never actually seem to scare me.

Interesting? Well done? Same way you'd call any other movie good, I suppose.

The Shining?
Or go back even farther with The Uninvited (1944).
