Yes! Only it's not an office. She's a mobile vet, so I'll be riding along with her to peoples' houses. Monday it's apparently going to be a group of boston terriers.

I've been out of a job for 3 years, hon. I know what you mean. >.< And this one is very part time and kind of uncertain-- she's not sure she needs an assistant, or that I'll be the right person. And I doubt it'll be more than 20 hours a week at minimum wage. But it's a job, and I'm going to do my best to impress her. At the very least it will look good on my resume to have something recent.

Haha, indeed. And PK, I have two jobs that don't cover my student loans. But I'm "overqualified" for minimum wage jobs.

And yeah, PK... I know your pain. x.x It's frigging hard to get a job, and I just stumbled into this one. It may sound silly, but I got this job because of community theater and a pet sitter. My pet sitter knew I needed a job and was friends with the vet, and the vet's partner was property manager for a play I was in... and one of my references is their client and also the play's director.

I think the best advice I have for getting jobs is to get out in your community and meet new people somehow. 'Network', if you want to use the jargon, but for me it was more a matter of 'stop being a bloody snail for a while, Wyrm'

theater worked for me because I like to act-- I can go be somebody different for a few hours. You'd obviously have to figure it out for yourself! Especially before you get all wrinkly and mushy with those long white tentacley vines like potatoes get if they spend too much time in the house. *nod*
