The only type of soda I drink is root beer. All the other flavors (Coke, sprite, fanta, etc.) taste weird to me.

I call it soda; bit boring, I think "pop" is much more fun to say. A few years ago I had about a can a day, and it got to the point where it wasn't even a treat anymore, I was just drinking it because it was there. Now, I really only drink it two ways: in a restaurant (which doesn't happen very often) and mixed with alcohol.

My favorite by itself is root beer ; after that, any vanilla or cherry flavored cola is great. I'm not too big on lemon lime type drinks, they're way too sweet and I'll usually get a headache from them. Mixed with alcohol, I looove Dr. Pepper + black spiced rum. Just recently stocked up on a cherry Dr. Pepper, it tastes so good I have to force myself to drink it slowly since the rum is really strong. @_@

I call it soda, but whenever I visit my family in Iowa they call it pop.

I can't drink most soda unless it's ginger ale.

Aw, cream soda, hells yeah...

I like those, too. I like the Italian sodas, too. Especially Italian cream soda...

And I just like saying it... Cream soda...

Ooh, never been there, but we got quite a few places here to find them, even the coffeeshops usually have a cooler full of specialty sodas...

And a few places will even make them in front of you, like at a soda fountain. There are a couple of restaurants that carry them on the menu, and I tend to get either one of those or some wine, depending on my mood.

Coke Zero is pretty much the only soda I drink. Once in a while I'll drink a normal coke or a pepsi if I'm desperate, but I always regret it. The sugariness is awful to me.

I recognize that Coke Zero actually has a really weird taste, but I've somehow trained myself to not notice it. It tastes like normal coke to me unless I pay really close attention. It's dumb, but I don't really question it. I only drink one once in a while, and it has no calories, so what's the harm, really?

Oh, yeah, and orange soda. I'm not overly fond of orange soda on its own, but when you mix it with some whipped cream vodka, oh damn. I also use Sprite Zero as a mixer sometimes. I drink it by itself once in a blue moon.

Orange soda's an awesome mixer for lots of things, and the whipped cream vodka makes it taste like an orange dreamsicle, IMO...

And yeah, Coke Zero is weird, but I drink it too. Mostly because people buy it and put it in the fridge, and it tastes better than the water here...

Ugh, yes. I'm not a person who hates tap water... it's just that the tap water here is god awful. It breaks any appliance that uses water. Dishwasher, coffee machines, washers... it's that hard. It just doesn't taste good. We have a filter, but it's so slow so you have to remember to fill it ages before you actually want to drink something. So at home I drink a lot of sodas, milk, and bottled teas. But elsewhere, I mostly drink water.

I'd take iron-flavored water over the stuff here any day.

Sometimes it smells like things water should never smell like when it's going in, and it pretty much always tastes mildewy, or moldy.

Fun fact: all of the water where I live has been passed over a live catfish. It's the quality-control testing system, apparently, though nobody's really supposed to talk about it, it seems.

Basically, if the fish dies, they turn off the water and warn everyone not to drink it until they figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.

It's like bringing a canary down a mine shaft, or something, and if it dies, it's time to get out of the mine.

Pretty freaky, huh? Everyone in my city is drinking and bathing in water that's been quality tested by a fish. Maybe they need a smarter fish, then the water could be better, because whatever fish they've been using is doing a lousy job of it.

I'm sort of afraid it might actually have been a gigantic, magical, slow-to-rot fish and actually died long ago and is just laying there with the water passing over it and they've just been covering it up all this time... It's just as plausible.

It would explain the water quality.

I live in Michigan, where I think most people call it pop. I call it soda.
But it's all horrible stuff to put in your body! So I probably have ~10 cups/yr, maybe.
I like Cherry Coke, reg. Coke, Dr. Pepper.... This place in Ann Arbor sells cherry ginger ale and cherry root beer

I call it soda, but "coke" is a general term for any kind of soft drink where I live.
If you call it "pop" you're not gonna be taken seriously.

I don't drink much of any soda, maybe once a month at best, but I love cream soda, root beer, and ginger ale. All those good, old-timey classics.
NEVER DIET. Gross.

A couple of times a week I'll buy me a soda, namely Coke Zero -- I don't like the taste of Diet Coke, that's just plain nasty, and regular Coke just has too many calories in them for me to drink but once in a great while. In fact I just bought myself several 2 liter bottles of Coke Zero since it's about twenty cents cheaper to buy them over the 20 oz bottles.

I'll have a beer more often than soda. I don't think I've had a soda in quite a long time now; I just stopped drinking it and never really developed a taste for it again. Plus, I feel like all the sugar now would really give me a headache.

And I call it soda, or by the name (e.g. Coke, Sprite, etc.).

I used to love Mt. Dew as a kid. All that sugar really kept you going, the colour was out-of-this-world, and the taste was pretty good, too.

Lol, Mountain Dew...that's so completely different now to how it used to be. I visited America with my mum in 1981, MD then was the same kind of colour as Sprite and only lightly sparkling, with a nice refreshing flavour. When it started being sold in this country years later and I bought a can...well xD I sat there staring at it when I saw the violent greeny-yellow stuff that looked like it would glow in the dark xD It didn't even still taste nice, either. ><

I can't stand Diet Mountain Dew. In any form. It is the most god-awful thing imaginable in liquid form.

And the regular kind is scary, too. I liked it when I was little, but yeah, it was different then.

I think they're using it to get rid of nuclear waste, bit by bit. Makes cola look almost natural, even.
