Once it had finished howling, the wolf looked around, taking in it's surroundings with the keen senses that were so new to it. After a moment, it's eyes landed on Mace, and for a second it's fur bristled, as if it were getting ready for a fight. Then, slowly, recognition dawned and the growl died in it's throat. It's tail drooped and it's ears lay flat as it layed down and rolled over, an obvious sign of submission. From it's size, it was easy to tell that this was a natural Alpha, so the fact that it submitted so easily clearly demonstrated that Rosemary was aware, and at least partially in control.

Mace watched as he stood tall letting out a low threatening growl of his own. He watched as the wolf laid it's hairs back, and submitted to him. He slowly walked over to the wolf as he gently licked the wolf hoping to let it know he was friend not foe. He knew to be careful not to make the wolf feel the need to fight. He was right she was a alpha. He knelt down as he wined like a pup for her. His tail slowly swayed like a pup as he tried to seem more pup like. He hopped it would make her feel at ease.

Watching her master's behavior warily, Rosemary slowly started to relax. She rolled back over and got up, sitting on her haunches and tentatively wagging her tail. It was clear that she and the wolf were cooperating rather well, and though she couldn't vocalize her thoughts, she showed them with a tiny whine and a wagging tail. As if she were eager, wanting to run but waiting for her master's permission before she did.

Mace slowly rose to his feet as he watched her. A slight grin appeared on his muzzle as he walked over to her placing his muzzle to hers. He then turned looking up at the moon. "Let us run." He said as he lunged forward. His paws feeling the earth under them making him forget his cares as he ran. He moved through the forest as his heart became light. Nothing could describe the feeling that came from running under the light of the moon. It was something that all wolves loved. He could smell all the animals as he ran, hearing the hoofbeats of the deer. He could hear their heart beats the sensations made him feel alive for once. He could feel the cold setting in as the forest came to life. The spirits still out as they tried to keep balance. Everything seemed to be alive all at once. He couldn't remember the last time he felt like this.

Rosemary's tail picked up speed, waving behind her like a whip. The second she heard her aster's words, she took off, following him through the forest. They ran at a speed she had never thought possible, and her heart soared with unbridled joy at the feeling of the wind through her fur, the earth under her paws, the smells, sights and sounds that reached her that she didn't know existed. She found, with great excitement, that she easily kept pace with her master. Of course, even as a wolf she was still his slave, and so she stayed just a bit behind him, as was proper. Mouth open, tongue lolling, Rosemary felt at perfect harmony with the wolf. Together, they howled, needing to express that unnameable feeling.

Mace kept a eye on Rosemary as the ran. He enjoyed watching her she seemed like a new born pup. She was full of life something he loved to see. He ran leading her through the woods, not stopping seeing how long they could run. He was happy that she changed without the effects he had feared. He lead her further and further from where they had been. The further they went the more wild the forest became. He howled as he ran enjoying feeling the dirt beneath his paws. After a while he came to a stop as he heard deer not much further from them. He kept his breathing under control as he sniffed the air as he smelt them. He looked around as he could feel the wind changing. He knew they needed to be down wing so the deer wouldn't smell them.
He lead the way around the heard of deer as he stopped keeping low to the foliage of the forest now being able to see the herd. He waited seeing if Rosemary wanted to try her hand at hunting now. For now it was just him and her who where eyeing the deer. He was sure there would be other predators soon. He could tell there was a elderly dear who was moving much slower than they rest. That would be the ideal target.

Rosemary ran with abandon, using only a small bit of control to keep herself from running off alone. It took a little more skill and concentration to run effectively as the forest grew more wild. Dodging branches and undergrowth was becoming steadily more difficult, though Rosemary knew she could handle it, and she loved the challenge. Even more, she loved to see her master having so much fun. When he stopped, Rosemary was going so fast that she skidded a little bit past him. When she came to a full stop, she padded back to him on silent paws, ears down as though she were embarrassed. That's when she heard the deer, and her ears perked up. She realized that the change had made her ravenous, and running had made the hunger even worse. Following her master's lead, Rosemary crouched down and crept silently, keeping her senses on alert as they snuck up on the deer. Her wolf was restless, and she wanted to just jump in there and chase a deer, but her new instincts held her back, warning her that it would only cause failure. Once they stopped again, she did as her master was doing and observed the deer. Almost instantly she spotted the older one, and she knew that it was a prime target. Her human self felt sorry for it, but a new part of her realized that if she didn't kill the deer, some other predator would. It was going to happen, no matter what, so she might as well do the job herself. That way, she could make it as painless as possible, and the deer wouldn't be wasted. She glanced over at her master, confirming that it was okay for her to go, and then silently crept forward again. The elderly deer was lagging behind. She stayed downwind and came up quietly on the herd, but then suddenly the wind shifted. The deer caught her scent and dashed off, even the elderly one running fast. Rosemary didn't hesitate, she was off after them like a flash, already enjoying the chase.

Mace kept a watchful eyes on Rosemary as she stalked the deer. He bolted forward as he gave chase. He cut thew a few trees and came out between the old deer and the others. He let out a power growl as the deer trembled and turned heading deeper into the thick underbrush. The poor deer was having a hard time it's hoofs constantly getting stuck. The deer was afraid knowing the wolfs were hunting it. Mace himself kept back he had done his job in helping with the meal. The old dear couldn't survive this underbrush. It was only a matter of time before it broke a leg or Rosemary caught it.

His head shifted abruptly as he let out a low threatening growl. The hairs on his neck and back stood as he sensed the other male watching. He could smell the musty sent of the male as the wind shift again. It wasn't a a normal wolf it smelled of human. He kept his guard as his eyes glowed now from anger. The other werewolf had come to find Rosemary. The wolf was in heat and was here for more than a simple greeting. Mace's glowing eyes locked on the bushes directly in front of him as a black blur lunged at him. Without hesitation he lunged forward his claws and fang beard. His fangs quickly sunk in deep around the other males throat as he slammed the male down to the ground penetrating the wolfs neck with his own fangs. Blood poured out as the wolf screamed in anger and pain. Mace kept his grip on the other males throat as he shook the other male violently. A shredding noise penetrated the air as the wolf screamed in pain. Mace let go as he slammed one of his massive paws across the wolfs face cutting deep into it's flesh. The wolf could barely whimper as it laid there in fear and pain. Mace tried to control himself and not just kill the wolf. The wolf in him wanted to finish the fool off. Rosemary was his and he would be the only one that mated with her.

The wolf in him just growled as his anger grew staring at the wolf. He just stood there as the wound on the black haired wolf started to heal some. His wound wouldn't kill him, but he would think twice next time. He could tell the male was done trying to stalk Rosemary and just wanted to be left alone to lick it's wounds. The wolf closed it's eyes and lowered it's ears hoping that Mace would take pity on it. However Mace still bared his bloody fangs as his tales danced about him in anger. The wolf in him was fighting with what little part of human he had. The wolf just wanted the other wolf dead.

Rosemary was keeping up rather well, and was about to pounce on the elderly deer when suddenly her master appeared, scaring it into running in another direction. Irritated, Rosemary's wolf wanted to growl and snap at her master for interrupting her hunt, but she went after the deer instead. It took her all of three minutes to take it down, copying what she had seen her master do before. Once it was dead, she started dragging the carcass back to where she had last seen her master. That was when she heard the growling and fighting. She rushed forward to see her master standing over a severely injured wolf, ready to give the final blow. She could smell that the other male was a werewolf, but he also had a scent she didn't recognize. Instead of questioning the situation, she rushed forward and threw herself in front of the unfamiliar wolf, shielding him. Her ears lowered in fear of what she was doing- effectively going against her master, which she had never done before- but she stood firm. Some part of her just knew that were he in human form, her master would not want to kill the new male.

Mace let out a loud growl as his eyes glowed with anger at Rosemary's defiance. How dare she put her way between him and the wolf. He turned and left before he ripped through her for defying him. He would deal with her later. It was easy to see his was past furious with her for defying him. He didn't bother to wait for her as he left her there to do as she pleased. He moved further into the woods leaving a trail of carnage behind him. There where trees that where missing section from them and a trail of entrails from the deer he had hunted. He finally stopped once he reached the waterfall. There he found a cave just behind it to sleep and rest. He knew she would find her way and if she didn't then he would deal with that later. At the moment all he wanted was break every bone in her body for her defiance.

He ate his meal throwing the corps down into the river not to attract any other predators. He walked into the water as he cleaned himself and enjoyed the cool water. Once he was done he made his way to the cave. He shook the water from his fur as he smelt the dampness of the cave. He had calmed down greatly from where he had been as he laid on the cool stone floor. He tried not to think of Rosemary knowing if he did he would only grow anger again.

Rosemary cringed at the obvious rage in her master's eyes, but she didn't stand down. Not until he was gone out of sight did she step away from the unfamiliar male. Glaring at him for whatever he had done to make her master so upset, she growled threateningly, and then walked off into the woods. However, she did not follow her master's trail. Her human half was appalled at this new show of defiance. Since when was she so disobedient? She had always been a good slave, always done as she was told, never spoke a single word against any master, no matter what. Why was she suddenly acting so independent? So disrespectful? Especially to Mace, who had so far been the kindest master she had ever had. But her wolf half balked at the idea of being subservient to anyone, even her master. She was an Alpha, a leader by birthright! She shouldn't have to take orders from anyone. And what right did he have getting angry at her, when she had only been trying to help? Confused and frustrated, she stopped by the river, far downstream from where her master was. She went to take a drink, and noticed her reflection in the water. It was her, but it was not her. A wolf, black as the night sky and wild as the wind looked back at her, and she realized just how different she had become, not just on the outside but on the inside. Then it hit her that her master had left her alone...again. He had promised not to, but she had angered him so badly that he had done it anyway. Her wolf growled that she didn't need him, that she'd be fine alone, but her human half was terrified. She knew nothing of the forest, or how to be a wolf. She didn't know how to change back into a human. What if she wasn't able to change back, and became wild? What if she forgot how to be human? The thought frightened her more than she cared to admit. Raising her head, she sniffed the air, looking for a trace of her master's scent, but there was nothing. She had wandered too far away to find him, and she didn't know her way back. She had completely forgotten about the deer she had killed...her first kill, and she couldn't even eat it. She couldn't even be happy about it, because her master had helped her get it...even though she hadn't needed the help. And that's when the sadness came, washing over her like the tide. The sadness that every lone wolf knows, after being separated from their pack. A desperate, aching loneliness that threatened to overwhelm her, until she expressed it in the only way she could: a long, heart-breakingly desolate howl that echoed through the forest like the mournful cry of a lost child. Her howl broke off at the end with a whimper, as she layed down on the cool earth by the riverbanks, resting her head on her paws. She had always wanted to be free, but was this what it felt like? Was she really alone this time?
