I think hummy is 80% of the reason we have so much teal to begin with. It's an unusual color and we have a lot of it.

I highly approve. It's my favorite color too. We could always use more, in my opinion.

I could rattle on some spiel about variety being good, it being tiring to always see the same few colors, etc. etc. but I legitimately get disappointed when I see a new item isn't available in gray so I'll just shut my trap.

I just think we need more color variety in CI's. I get a bit tired of black and red so often. However, they are lovely items all the same. But could you imagine this cape in different colors? I really hope that's a mennies item that comes up

Yeah, does seem like a lot of the same colors when it comes to CIs... I guess they just need to go with what's widely appealing, and black goes with everything. Can't say I've ever liked red, but I'm a minority in that regard!

Yeah, I think they want it to not step on toes and just appease the masses with the common colors of choice *shrugs* It is what it is. I just like when we get the ones with color diversity. I love seeing the amazing things people do with them. Unique color schemes make me happy

I think it's less wanting to avoid stepping on toes, and more the desire to make enough money for Mene to support itself. Which it doesn't, no matter the colors. But...

I really wish we could get more users on here. It's been far too dead as of late. There are such beautiful items here and they are all so well made. This site deserves way more love than it gets. I prefer it over any other site I've been on.

Well, all those users coming over from that one site that closed has seemed to help some. If we could just get some MIA users to see that activity and join in, we might get ourselves into a much-needed positive feedback loop.

The problem is that forums like these are just not how people use the internet anymore. Message boards in general are past their heyday, with things trending more towards social media. The site isn't mobile friendly, it's not a typical "game," and its format is so different than the sites that are... well, easier to use? like facebook, twitter, tumblr, instagram, etc. where you just pick who to follow and scroll through. Here you've got to be less passive and more active, seeking out places to post, trying to come up with conversation yourself. Basically, most sites now present you with entertainment. It's very nice. On Menewsha, you've got to kind of work and fight for that entertainment. So people get bored and gravitate away. Message boards just aren't the best format anymore, especially when they're so low on activity.

None of the above is in any way a criticism of people who enjoy social media sites (I love them), or of messages board/people who enjoy them. Just musings on the sociology of it all.

Being a grumpy old man, i'm so not into social media. I have a Facebook, that I don't much use. And a Tumblr, that i'm not really social on. Aside from that, i'm not too interested. Instagram? Who cares? And Twitter... I'm boring and so are most people. Feh!

And I really don't like the idea of being connected to every person i've ever met, at every second of the day. You can argue it's not like that, but again... grumpy old man. That's how I see it.

... My favorite color is black. And don't try to tell me that it's not a color.

edit: Oh yeah, look at the shirt my aunt bought me. It's so cool.

Wicked shirt.

The thing about social media sites is that you completely construct your own environment. Facebook can be far flung people you only met once twenty years ago, tumblr can be toxic people with toxic opinions, and twitter can boring dickheads. Or you can keep your facebook to just a few close friends/relatives you really care about and only see updates you're actually interested in, tumblr can be nothing but pictures of plants (or art, or funny things, or just about anything), and twitter can be just those truly inspired people who manage to cram more wit and insight into 140 characters than the most celebrated author. It takes some effort to "curate" your experience (who you follow/friend), but then the entertainment is just spoonfed to you.

Have I had this conversation before? In this thread? I feel like I have. And you said it was pointless to tell you this anyway, but... You know by now I don't ever miss the chance for a lengthy, unnecessary paragraph.

We've talked about everything already, twice. And yet you've never invited me over so we can do each others hair and eat pie.

I know you can craft your experience to how you want it. I'm just being a fuddy duddy. But you can't deny that these media outlets want you to know what your friends and family are doing all the time and vice versa.

I think that a lot of people like having games to play on avatar sites now. Seems most are coming up with interactive games for people to play and earn stuff, and it makes people more drawn in. We don't have the kind of money on mene to do that, though, and like you said, people are less prone to talk much these days when they have to work for it

Things got real up in here. Damn.

I agree on both accounts? I only have facebook, and I rarely do anything on it, except look at animals and funny things, and periodically keep up with family. I don't go on tumblr because it seems like it could be addictive, and I don't need more reasons to be lured to the internet

Not as much as you think! Facebook snuck in this really terrible algorithm. It doesn't show you every post your friends and family make - and there's no way for you to change that. It shows what it thinks you'll be interested in. This seems to involve both how often you interact with that person's post (in proportion to how much they post), and how many other people interacted with that post. So if your cousin Billie-Sue just posted a picture of her brand new baby, it may at first only be shown to people who regularly interact with Billie-Sue. But as they all begin liking and fawning over the new crotch seed, the post will start to be shown to more and more of Billie-Sue's friends until you're left wondering why that photo of a wrinkly ham got 300 likes while you're rootin' tootin' spicy taters recipe only got 2 (because not enough people regularly interact with you, and it never got momentum from the people who do).

At the start of facebook, you saw everything everyone posted, period, or nothing at all. After a time, you were able to manually select for people how many of their posts you wanted to see (with "some" or "only most important" being chosen by a similar algorithm to above). This was a really nice time, especially if you knew one of those people who has to share every single video and picture they see. You want to keep up with Uncle Bob-Mark, but not every single cat video he compulsively shares, so you would choose "some" and all those cat videos would be filtered out in favor of his musings on The Passion of Jesus Christ and the new Taco Bell options. You know, the stuff you want to see.

Now those options are gone, and you just have to live with the fact that you could miss something you really did want to see just because facebook decided that for you. It's hit this even harder with pages (like brands, companies, TV shows, etc. not people profiles), where they specifically limited audiences just to force pages to pay to have certain posts actually shown to all of their followers. Isn't that ridiculous?

All of this simply because Great Aunt Betsy couldn't stop adding everyone she had ever heard of, then complained that her facebook was too hard to keep up with and there were too many posts. The manual options were much to confusing for poor Great Aunt Betsy, who hasn't yet figured out how to turn off her computer. Well stop following every brand you ever bought then, Aunt Betsy. You can probably stand to miss the joke that Mr. Clean is going to post today.

Suona - Yes, tumblr is very addictive. Stay far away.

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress! Unless she's a literal cow, you shouldn't tip cows. It's rude.

The one and only time I have been anywhere near cow tipping, the guys didn't realize there was a bull in the pasture. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants.

Glad you'll be here all week, I will definitely come back.
