Down the Rabbit Hole

Wonderland has been ruled by the Heart family for as long as there is recorded history. Like the Hearts all citizens have a role and title that they must play for the continued function of Wonderland. From the Doormice who do thr cleaning and fetching for their employeers to the Knaves who protect and keep order. From the Duchesses taking care of the young and the Tweedles healing the sick. Wonderland is a fine tuned machine Of color and imagination. Ruled over by the samr famiky for eons.
Until unrest broje out in the outter reaches of the land. Slowly a small rebelkion turned into a full fledged war. To protect her last living child the Queen sent her toddler daughter Alice through the last looking glass before smashing it. Making sure that no one could go after her. Two weeks later the rebellion won and the self proclaimed "Queen of Hearts" took the throne.
Years later Wonderland is a twisted version of what it once was. The land started to change, the colors twisted in on them shelves. Brightening to a harsh lije in some olaces and darkening to dulk tines in others. The people didn't fair any better. Only a handful made it without becoming insane or completely empty inside. Time itself has fled the land leaving the people With out the hope of new life or the bliss reward of an afterlife.

The old windmill house had once stored memories of childrens laughter and the smell of home cooked meals. It had been bright and the envy-and pride-of all who lived in the small village outside of the westwood forest. With its towering three stories and handpainted canves blades rotatingnin the wind. The large purple beauty was the greating point for travlers looking to buy the wares of the Hatters, Carpenters, and other such tradesman who called the town their home.It was the house of the village's head family. And the home to the one day future King of Wonderland. Of course no one knew that the boy who had gotten the results of his placement test would only be a Carpenter for so long before a blonde haired beauty would steal his heart and vise versa. Yes the house was once a place of pride but like all of Wonderland it had suffered. It seemed that though time had abandoned the people it still had its hand firmly wrapped around the land.

The garden had overgrown and bore very little, the ground had hardened making growing anything difficult. The wood had rotted in spots along onf of the side walls and the door sat at the oddest angle now. Impossible to shut. All of this made the windmill house a place to aviod. Which worked out nicely for its inhabitants. A young girl who had once be labeled a Door Mouse though no such titles were used in this new broken Wonderland. An older March Hare-whoes name he himslef had forgotten- who had brought with him more books then clothes or food. They were holed up in the old house hiding from the new Queen and trying to cling on to the sanity they had once had.

Past the Westwood forest and forty miles north stood the Heart Castle. The very center of all of Wonderland. The tower cut into the sky as if the building itself was watching over all of its mistresses land. The large red towers looked as if they had been painted in blood, a rumor many believed. Inside its walls large garish parties were thrown and many brutal exacutions held. More then any other place in Wonderland it was avoided by all who had retained some of their sanity.

It was a place of loyalty to the Queen of Hearts. A place for those in her court to take pleassure in her ruke who ever they saw fit.For all but one. In the third town facing off to the east a man was chained inside the room, the last living supporter of the Heart family Tartarros was kept. Though modt now wrote him off as mad the new Queen was anything but stupid. This man had taken out larger portions of her army durning the final battle. A man close tot he old royal family, a Hatter who had been made a Knave. No the new Queen wasnt naive enough to believe that the one everyone called the Mad Hatter was as usless as he made himself out to be.
