OMG zig! Are you able to make an event forum for us?

Ahhh questions like this are why I was scared to come back to the forums.

To be honest, Inso's message was as much a surprise for me as everyone else. Staff didn't get any notice that he was planning on "reopening" the site. With myself as the only AA even remotely around and BSW the only Mod I've seen log in, I can very honestly say that it simply is not feasible for us to pull anything off.

Right now I'm prioritizing just trying to help people get back into their accounts. I know that's not what users want to hear but the truth is that I left back in 2019 because with all the BORK and staff disappearing, it's an insanely time-consuming and emotional burden to try to keep this place running at all.

Oh, no! That’s okay! We don’t need you guys to host an event or run threads or anything! We just wanted to have a user-run mini celebration thing! But we can probably manage by making threads in the Meneverse. X3 I totally get that you need a good number of staff to get this place back running again. XD By any chance, would you happen to know what happened to wishie or what she’s been up to? o:

Antagonist: Life's been pretty crazy. The pandemic was rough. I lost my new job when things shut down and my boyfriend is a doctor so it was scary times. Last summer I moved from Brooklyn to Florida so that was a big deal but I'm much happier here. Being stuck in my little shoebox apartment during lockdown was NOT good for my mental health! I did start new job at the beginning of this year though which I love! Life continues to be crazy but overall I'm doing alright I guess. [smile]

Kent: I honestly can't even remember how to make a subforum. I'll try to look tonight.

Kent: On the off chance that I am able to make said forum, who all is in on this? What are y'all hoping to call it? Usually there's a fee for user-run events but I'll see what I can do.

Hiya Zig! been doing good! Life's been a bit different since I was last on Mene. Got a new job in 2020 after graduating college in customer support, worked in-office for around 3 months and then we got sent to work from home because of the pandemic @_@. Continued working customer support until the end of 2021, was trying to find a new job because my current one was stressing me out so much. Before I could find a new job they ended up promoting me into a different position that was way less customer-facing so I decided to stick it out. :)

How've you been doing? Excited to be back admin-ing for Mene?

zigbigadorlube: Alright. The people that have said they're interested in running a thread/game are The_Crow, bloodstainedwings, Alorrena, R u b y, and maybe Antagonist, plus myself.

There were multiple names thrown around such as FOWN Mene Reunion, Mene-palooza, Mene Days of Winter, and From FUBAR to FOWN. Would you like for us to cast a vote or something? XD

@ Elirona: Wow it sounds like you've also been through the ringer in terms of job stuff! I hope your new position works out!

@ Kent: Good to know! I actually went ahead and was able to start a forum. I still have to work on a few things on my end though before I can open it up.

Yeah the pandemic was rough on a lot of people. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job and was stressed out by the situation with your boyfriend and being stuck. Glad to hear that you have a job you love now!

For the most part COVID didn't really hit me too hard, since I've always been a bit of a shut-in and rarely travel anywhere other than from my home to the office and back. I think we don't get as many jobs as before, though I'm not sure if it's because of the pandemic or because of our manager's lovely personality.

Yes!!! It's been such a long time coming. I had a suuuuper toxic job for like 8 YEARS. It was INSANE the sh*t I went through there. I had just joined this cool startup in January 2019 only to have it close 2 months later during the shutdown. I was unemployed for a while and then I started at a nonprofit, which I thought would be awesome, but there was a woman there who made my life miserable. Not fun. I was there for about a year and then lost that job as well when they decided to end remote work. My new team is amazing! Everyone is so friendly and positive and my boss is like my bestie, it's awesome.

Going through the pandemic in NYC was just insanity. On top of the stress of getting sick, the shortages, the lines, the ambulance sirens, the fireworks...it was so stressful. It really took its toll on everyone and the crime skyrocketed. Someone was literally shot right outside my window and died. I'm glad you were able to stay out of the worst of it. I'm sorry to hear that your workplace isn't doing so well though. I think a lot of companies are really struggling still and I'm sure it doesn't help if your boss isn't the greatest.

Oh holy wow that sounds hellish I'm kind of afraid to go back to the states because I'm paranoid I'd get randomly shot or something.

I envy your current relationship with your coworkers and boss though Most companies here are still in the 'traditional' mindset of where the superiors think they're literally superior and everybody who works there is their servant.

Then again, maybe our manager just has minus social expertise. Not only does she annoy all of us employees she also annoys the clients lmao. Our boss is an expert at what he does but seriously the manager manages to piss off so many people it's impressive. The coworkers would go to a site to work and the people there who we've worked with in the past and recognize us would all get together with our people and bitch about our manager together.

Haha yeah, she never admits her mistakes either but loves to berate us for every tiny mistake all the time. Absolute charmer. xD

I don't mind too much though, since when we're not busy I can do my own thing. Sometimes my coworkers spend half the day just snoozing away, waiting for when we get off work. xD

Oh wow, that pretty awesome! My boyfriend's dad is actually from Taiwan and went back to visit recently. I'd really love to visit someday.
