Sure is nice to see manga and comics there from time to time. X3 I like it when I see YA books like Heartstopper too.

I love that the library also has manga. Mine never has my favorite series though.

Still nice to see though! I tend to read a lot of BL/GL manga and those tend to be less seen in Libraries

These are the books that I'm in the process of reading and hope to finish this year! I finished by reading 85 last year so I'm interested to see how many I can read in 2024!

wow it's so cool to see your stats, Ziggie! that comeback after 2017 though do you feel like you've gained a lot of insight from all your reading?

Haha, thanks! I think in recent years I've learned more from my readings as I've incorporated some nonfiction books or self help books. In the past I was mostly only reading fiction. Last year I really really enjoyed Killers of the Flower Moon. It taught me a lot about local history and native american history.

You really did slay the reading this year! I'm excited to see what I can get through too. I should keep better track, I kinda fell off the mark last year on recording

I'm a religious Goodreads user and participate in the reading challenge which makes it super easy to keep track of everything but it's extra fun to share and discuss on here!

I'm about halfway through my first audiobook of the year. I'm feeling so/so about it. I know it's supposed to be a thriller type book but I can't tell if the main character is being gaslit or not and it's kind of unsettling and stressing me out, lol. Today I started a book about management. We're in the final stages of hiring my first direct report so I suppose it's high time I got on that one.

Well I ended up finishing it just now. The book was rubbish, I don't recommend it. Two stars for the first book of the year.

Haha, sounds like a plan! I am enjoying the book about becoming a manager though. This one is much better written than the one I finished at the end of last year.

Oh good! Good writing will also make it more memorable which is what you need most in a book like that too!

Yeah, I mean the other book wasn't poorly written, it just wasn't a very personable tone of voice, this one is vibing with me more. I'm about 1/4th of the way through so far. I'm trying to figure out which audiobook to listen to next. I'm still pretty traumatized by the last one, lol.

My library has a real nice amount. * u* They tend to buy most things I request them to buy too! It's been so nice!

Maybe I'll actually keep track of what I finish reading this year...

Oh! I recommend the audiobook for The Great Passage by Shion Miura! It's been fun so far.

Ooh, thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to look that up! It'd also be great to try to tackle some of the books on my "want to read" list but it's hard because a lot of them are not available from the library...

What books? o: And what's your library? If I may ask. XD You may be able to ask for them to purchase it or borrow it through inter-library loan.

All my "to read" books on Goodreads, lol! I've got about 170 or so. I've been mostly trying to get books electronically through my library. It's possible if I search for physical copies they may have some that they don't have electronically or ones that I can get through inter-library loan as you mentioned. I'm actually going through my Goodreads list now and cross referencing on my library's digital loans which ones I can get and adding them to a special wish list so I can start working on some of those and also have a back log of audiobooks to pull from when I finish one.

I mostly read either physical books or audiobooks but sometimes I'll do ebooks. I used to pretty much only get physical books from the library but in the past few years a lot of my books I've gotten for free from a friend who loves thrifting and passed them on or that I've found in little free libraries. I have started buying more books these days though.

Sure! Here's my profile: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/7991450-danielle Are you on Goodreads as well?
