Now, this is not a discussion about religion, it's about music. If you want to talk religion, there are plenty of forums in the GD for you. Thanks ^_^

As many people have heard and seen latley, it's the holiday season again. Malls and radio stations have been blasting nothing but holliday tunes since the week before Thanksgiving.

So what are some of your favorite Holiday songs? Musicals? Genras?

Even though I'm not christian, I love some of the more religious christams songs like The Little Drummer Boy and Do you Hear What I hear. They are just so beautifull...

I'm also a big fan of The Grinch. Which grinch theme song is the best in your opinion?

Some of the well performed hymns are nice. But I can't STAND the Christmas pop garbage they churn out every year. Especially when I have to work in a store that plays it all for more than a couple hours at a time.

There is one in particular that I can't get enough of, but damned if I know what it's called. I could hum it, but that's kind of hard to do in a forum...

@Torikat I love Feliz Navidad, singing in other languages is fun.

one of my favorites of all time is Ades de Fieales. (i can't spell) but it's oh come all ye faithfull in latin, it's really cool. we had to learn it in latin class in highschool, and we sang it in choir.

@Berginyon I know how that is when you know a song, and can sing/hum it but have no clue what the name is. and on the first note, i agree... I mean there are like 30 versions of Caroll of the Bells, and I only like 2 or 3... it's a really difficult song to sing so when you hear it preformed you kinda judge it harsly if you don't like it. *nods*

I don't like a lot of holiday music. Just maybe two or three songs. I don't really care for it, so I don't remember titles XD...Some of the songs are very sad though T_T

Carols drive me infreakingsane! We always have to play them in my Strings class and it's... oh, god, it's terrible. Not only do they get stuck in my head like nothing else, I don't like Christmas, so it's like torture every time I walk into a store.; I can stand Carol of the Bells about five times, but that's my limit.

I don't mind some other Christmas songs... the only one I can think of that I really like off of the top of my head is Elton John's "Step Into Christmas". It's just so... so... dancable.

lol Ahh I'm in choir so I'm having Christmas carols driven into my skull. x.x;
We're preforming "O Magnum Mysterium" (latin for O Great Mystery), "Away In A Manger," "Deck The Halls (in 7/8 time)," "Go Tell It On The Mountain" (Jazz style. x.x), and "O Holt Night."

Some of my favorite Christmas carols are "Little Drummer Boy," "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Shake Me I Rattle (Squeeze Me I Cry)," "Christmas Shoes" (even though it makes me cry every time I listen to it), "Do You Hear What I Hear?" "Carol Of The Bells," "Ding Dong Marilly On High," "The Christmas Song," and "The Wexford Carol"

^^; Yes, I have a long list. lol

Don't feel bad, I have a very long list as well. I'm actually making a playlist of holiday music for my myspace page. I'm very happy because I found Adam Sandler's Hanakua song (i cant' spell I appologise). Ooh that's what I can do tonight, since it's the first night of Hanaka I can pull out the 8 crazy nights dvd, there's not usually much on wensdays untill south park but i think they are in re-runs now so yeah.

Oh, adding a question on the first post as well. My answer is the original one is the best ^_^

Mookie's Last Christmas is my favorite Christmas-y song.
I'm really not one for those Carols and traditional X-mas songs, they just get so..old. xP

I like Ralph Vaughan William's Fantasia on Christmas Carols. It's a beautiful piece of music, we sung it for choir (it requires a good conductor who can handle both an orchestra and a choir at the same time, which we unfortunately did not have). It's a really beautiful piece of music though.

I love well-organized and performed hymns! Carols make me happy, too. I especially loved holiday music performed and written in the twenties/thirties/fourties. Everything with an old feel makes Christmas more... I don't know. Just more.

Have you ever heard Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day? We're singing it with my school choir right now and I think it's a wonderful song! Also, Past Three O'Clock, Carol of the Bells, What Child Is This? and Baby, It's Cold Outside make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I'm sure there's a thousand more that I can't think of right now. I may need to do an edit to tell you a few more.

I'm mostly indifferent to 'Adeste Fidales' except I have a very bad habit of humming it - year round, even! Really, though, my favorite holiday song is 'Good King Wenceslas' . . . it's the only carol I actually know all the words too.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas songs.

I don't mind the songs that have been taken over in a less traditional manner, though. I believe it was "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" by Twisted Sister that I liked quite a bit, just because it was different. Also, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" with Dropping Daylight, which I downloaded last night. I listened to it on repeat for about an hour last night.

I completely adore the Carol of the Bells.

It sounds beautiful if sung well. <3
