I'm happy that there are lots of official Events on Menewsha,
and users are very active to initiate many user-run events too.
But if the events become too frequents won't that be boring or over-whelming?
Also, which type of events do you like more?
The creative user-run events with variety of old/rare/expensive items as prizes of the games,
or the big official events with variety of brand new items and more freebies to grab? And while we're at it, which one you like better, original menewsha events (Phoenix Jubilee, Celes Paradi, etc) or international holiday events (Easter, St.patrick, etc)?
Personally I like both type of events. :insane:
*events addict*
I'm just curious on what's other people's opinion about the growth of Events in Menewsha. ^^

I like all the events, but I must admit, I haven't tried the user run event yet. I enjoy earning the event items the most.

I don't really like user run events.. I find them dull and boring. I wasn't around for the one previous to this event. I like ones that actually WILL allow you to get items. With user run events you might get one, but there's no guarantee. =T
At least with ones done by the site they get interesting sometimes..

These official events are very newbie-friendly. I think it's the best solution to avoid the greed that comes with desiring to earn gold quickly just to be able to dress properly because there is no discrimination against newbies' dressing (I'm sure some of you are aware of what site I'm referring to).
Haven't tried any of the user-run contests yet because I have no idea how the trading works XD but I do like the freebies. They're classy.

I like events a lot; it gives me a chance to talk and meet new people as well as chat with old friends that I haven't talked to in a while.. of course, I love the items too. xD
But I agree with the event after event thing.. it does kind of overwhelming, and you don't get enough time to... get "ready." xD
Right now, I'm a bit frustrated because I have limited computer time these few weeks and will miss a big part of this event..
I already missed the user-run event. ><;;
I think a good/awesome event every few monthes is better than boring/frequent ones..
I hope there won't be another event until Halloween in October. xD
I really need to concentrate on school.. hahah.

I love all events! ^__^
I especially like the way in which Mene's events tend to encourage people to post more, instead of just dragging the users away from the forums to play games. It's been a little slow around here lately, but the event has really perked the place up a bit.

I like them both.
Me and some other evil fairies around the site have started a little tradition.
On officail events we will have an evil fairy hangout and on user events we shall have an evil fairy charity.
With the official events I don't feel we would have enough time or energy.

I don't like user-run events much. I suppose it's fun for the people running it and getting involved and those who just like hanging out in threads but I'm mostly a lurker and I don't participate in them at all. Also it seems like there's been a ridiculous amount of them lately. Do we really need an event like once a week?
Official site events I like but I'm not crazy about all the made-up ones. I prefer the international holidays - I can't get into stuff like Celes Paradi. I definitely would've rather had an Easter and/or St Patricks Day event instead of the Jubilee.

This is an interesting thread, and you can be sure I'll be watching for responses. :) I won't really say my piece on it, though, as I'm probably biased due to my position. XD;
But I can say that there will be no official site event until Halloween and I don't believe anyone's been trying to organize a user-run one between now and then... (They've kind of missed the boat if they were going to, anyway.)

Personally rant here, but i hate it when people 'bash' user run events because they don't get freebies or anything, that always annoys me to no end because people can't appreciate the work users put into to running those things - if i wasn't always in photoshop i would join in on them more xP
But other than that, i love our events ^^ especially the original ones, gives us our own individuality ^^

I generally don't like user-run events...I think it's because I really like the fact that with staff events, that we get new commons and new items and that. So in between posts I try on clothes and that....just like that.
looks above^ but don't get me wrong, I do enjoy all the events here on Menewsha.

I love all the events, although it would be nice to have more time between events.
I don't tend to participate in user-run events. But I do appriciate the work other users put into them. I think they're a neat idea.
I guess I like events like this one with the event items. It's just neat to see what items people have come up with, and seeing how other users use them on their avi's. Plus I really love these original holiday's for the site. It adds a bit of fun and wimsy to the site. Plus people don't have to feel left out because 'their' holiday isn't celebrated, and the staff can spend time with their friends and family during the holiday's instead of running events and fixing problems.

I love all the events. <3 But unless I am part of the planning for the user run event I'm not all that active in the event. >.< It's kinda just how I am. XD But the user run events bring people together with a common theme/interest They don't lag the site down and they're just plain fun.
But The staff run events... just make everyone happy. Yes there is lag and it sucks but the lay out changed and everything just looks so festive! and I will also admit that I like the menewsha original events more then the 'normal' events. because it gives mene a time to just celebrate it's individuality instead of fighting to get noticed. <3

I like official events more only because of the items and more people are active. The amount of new commons is wonderful because I love messing with my avi. Solving the hints and doing the little things to get stars/candy/whatever is also fun.
I do like user-run events, but I don't participate in them as much as official ones. And I know staff likes them because they can join in the fun as a normal user. xDD Although I do agree that there may be too many of them. o.o;

For those of you who semi-participate or don't participate in user events, what would you like to see? I know items are a big factor, but to the committees who plan and organize the events we would like some feedback to work off of to maybe get you and others to participate. Also, how many user-events are too many? How many would you like to see a year?
Personally I don't participate in user events that much because it the same thing every event. It seems like we always have the same activities and the same plan. We need something to put an edge to the event, we need more novelty and character to them.
Staff events are love. We have storyline updates, mini-folk lores, and the items. This time around I think was a huge success. The color added and the new interactions with the token system give it something new. I think many people loved the new edge introduced.

I really get into staff events usually, but barely go into user event forums. Iunno why, it's like the atmosphere of mene completely changes when there's a staff event going on. The added currencies to earn and freebies and event commons are just too hard for a user event to live up to xD;

@ King ~ Exactly, they're pretty much all the same thing. Yeah, there's a few different contests, but other than that...
I have no clue what I'd suggest. Maybe a story behind it, unique contests, worthwhile prizes, interesting threads rather than a ton of hangout ones. I don't know how many of them I'd like. Maybe 2 a year when Mene doesn't have any other events going on.

i like the bigger events though cause everyone gets involved. :]

So you'd want a back story and some creativity behind it all, as well as more rare items/rarer items? That's pretty good feedback. You'd rather have them during the less active spots as well, most likely the same for everyone else. If I do host another event I'll plan around that basis, as I have been preparing with a little project of my own.

i have never enjoyed user-run events by the time i get one for the 1st day
they are already one like page 20 and im like ya
not going there.
I prefer the site run events, because at least we all get an equal chance of getting something
and i like that.
although i do have to agree if we keep up with all these events one after the other they will lose their spark and interest.
it always seems like users are planning events.its over whelming sometimes.

I love all events, though I agree that we need more breaks between them.
xD;
I think one per month sounds great, haha.
I love user-run ones. They've never failed to amaze me, these ideas people come up with, and how they work.
I've been part of an user-run one before, the avatar contest organizer, and it was tons of fun trying to see how Shakespeare fit with Mene, haha.
The staff ones are great too. ;D
The clues the best part though.
I don't really care if we get items in an event; events to me are for meeting new people and chatting and making friends, items are just a bonus.

Not necessarily rares, but items that most people would want. :yes: The whole thread thing is the main point for me. All the hangout threads get boring because it's hard to enter them when you're shy and don't know many people, like new users. Threads with.. themes or discussions would be better I think.

In the Battleship game during the pool party event. The game was about a battle of two sides, but then I come up with a Pirate theme, thinking it would be fun to spice up the game...and it worked like a charm.I was surprised yet very happy by the result. xD Because even people who were not playing come and visited the thread to do some of the the "pirate talk". Some people from the losing side even said they were having fun and would like a rematch. x3
So yeah, it seems for user-run events, an original theme within the sticky threads which are different than regular threads are important and have to be as focused as official events or even more, because they're not backing up with new event items to bait people's participations. Just a little fun thing, like a side-theme related to the event's theme, that will pull people to join in the conversation inside.
