But looking back, wow. The plots were unbelievably repetitive, there were awful stereotypes and the girls were about as anatomically correct as Barbie dolls. And what's the big appeal about Archie? He's been leading on Betty and Veronica for years! It's just kinda scary.

Any opinions?

Never was really into Archie. Something about Jughead just pissed me off. I used to read Richie Rich like a mad fiend, though. xD Those comics were godawful ... such horrible puns. "Dad got hit on the head with a money bag! He must have a coin-cussion!" And yet I think I have the movie on VHS somewhere.

Now, Josie and the Pussycats, I loved them. Mostly the cartoon, but I read the comics now and again. The live action movie they made was actually, surprisingly good.

i've read a few of the comics. but like you said, it gets very repetitive and Betty and Veronica are just so stupid and Archie really just leads then on. it gets boring.

I read every Archie comic I could get my hands on when I was little. ^^;; Mum and I would be in line at the supermarket, and I'd snatch a comic off the shelf and present it to her. Looking back on it, it's a pretty pathetic series; there's something incredibly classic about it that makes me still love it to some extent, but I would never want to read it now because I know I'd hate it.

Archie, dear, why couldn't you just pick one? Preferably the smart one. I always cheered for the smart one.

I dunno... I guess I still have a soft spot for this series. I really like it. Yeah it does get repetitive and often I see old comics over and over again. (Like they just needed to fill up a few more pages and took an old comic from vol x and placed in vol y) but for some reason I like it. O.o Don't know why. Maybe cause it's a good way to pass the time when I'm at Longs or the supermarket and my parents are just shopping. I just pick up one up and read the whole thing by the time my parents are done. It was kinda funny though some of them.

@fishnet Oh I do agree. I wish he would just pick one. Preferably Betty. >.> But if not I really wish Betty would just get a new crush since she's always left for second. *sigh* poor Betty. *is a Betty fan* ^^;;

I have a soft spot for it, simply because I grew up with it.

Yes, Archie is repetive, but haveyou actually gone back and watched shows and read books you read as a kid, almost all of them are repetative.

nothign wrong with it, and the puns, easier for kids to think are funny.

Besides, for many anime nerds, they have Archie to thank for things such as Tenchi, Lum, and Ramna 1/2, just to name a few.

I love those things. Used to read them in the library all the time.

They're pretty expensive now though, which sucks. x_x

I still read them time to time, but they've started reprinting all the comics that I already own so it's boring...

However, the Sabrina comics are rather interesting lately. They actually have a cute story line. But then again, I've always been a sucker for the Sabrina comics, even before they had a continous story line.

Archie Comics were basically my first reading materials. I used to have a super large collection, but my mom threw them away so now I only have maybe 5 left over. I had some of the good digests, like the Archie 100 one, and the one with Jughead and his two girlfriends.. haha.
I've learned so many things from it. D:

And I will always be on Team Betty! x3

I used to read/buy them when I was in elementary school... Usually got them second hand. I remember a bunch of kids in class used to borrow others to read... XD

That only lasted a few years tho... 'cause it got too hard to find books with stories I hadn't already read printed in them. >_>;

My sister and I were huge fans and we had many boxes of Archie comics...all lost over the years as we moved from house to house and lost interest in Riverdale's denizens.

Oddly enough, Dan DeCarlo, THE Archie artist in our eyes, was last seen doing Powerpuff comics for DC. There's something vaguely wrong there.

I used to read it since my sister was a fan of it but now she out grew it so I don't really read it any more. Since there really wasn't much going on there Archie most probably has chosen between Veronica and Betty. So there's really no movement on the plot it's just stuck there kind off anyway.

Comics that repeat themselves bore me.

I used to love them, probably a lot less now, but then the storylines did get really repetitive. some comics were even printed in different issues. I still read them when I'm bored and I'm near one though. I own like...about 10 of them, and I've read each on e a lot of times, because they cost too much to just get more of...

I totally agree about the awful puns. Those puns were almost as bad, if not worse than Robin's exclamations of "Holy Toledo Batman!"
