A single kingdom full of the most honorable and recomendable creatures on earth, lie deep in the valley of four swords protected from the troubles of the outside world. Although the kingdom is content with all it's doings, a great sadness ahas erupted over the land. The leader, King Lineas is dying of an illness. The poor king on his dying breath ahs sent out two scrolls, to be delivered to what he called, "the opposing joint." This opposing joint is to find a mysterious artifact , or two, and aid in keeping the peace of the entire palace, or aid the ever rising evil.

((Oh he's a cutie ^_^))
Itari was sitting on her back porch soaking up the sun when she heard a loud rapping at the door. With a sigh she hopped up and walked to her front door. It was rare that she ever got to rest with all the things she did for the king. Still, he was a benevolent old man and a magnificent warrior in the past. Itari looked up to him all her life, she was prepared to work her way to the stop, even if that meant serving by his side. When she opened the door a soldier stood there, his horse grazing on a few blades of grass nearby. Solemly he handed her the scroll which was wrapped in a dark red ribbon. "For you my priestess." the soldier said in a low and melancholy voice. Suddenly Itari felt horrible.

[[Lol. He is.]]
Dmitri kicked Adrian, his horse into a gallop. The wind blew his hair as he rode. He heard the horn, calling him back. They only blew the horn if the matters he needed to attend to were urgent. He kicked Adrian faster. Soon, he was back at the stables. The chief of guards stood waiting.
Dmitri dismounted, handing the reins to the stablemaster. "Wipe him down, and make sure he gets enough water," he intstructed. He pulled of fhis riding gloves and walked up to the guard. "This came for you," the guard said, bowing and holding out a scroll. "From the king."
Dmitri took it and dismissed the guard. Heading toward his personal chambers, he unrolled the scroll...

To my dear Itari,
I hope you realized immediately when you saw the dark red ribbon from my pouch you knew something had happened to me. If you are reading this and have not seen me yet or heard the talk of town, then you know that I have passed on. I know you must be quite upset, but you must keep your duties in mind. I need you to fulfill one final request. Go beyond our land and find the opposing force. To the west of our land lies a place of great mist and I need you to go there and find the staff of Goddesses. I must say that this is all I can tell you. The rest you can figure out for yourself. Have a pleasnt future, and remember to always look upon every dark place with hope. I know you won't let me down, if I could choose a daughter it would undoubtedly be you.
Loving Regards,
King Lineas
A tear slid from her eye and she rolled up the scroll and tied it with the ribbon, "I suppose my preparations must be made... I cannot fail my King."

[[Oooh, I have an idea, it will be in Dmitri's letter. If you don't like the idea, tell me, and I will change this.]]
Dmitri scanned the letter will grim solemnity.
Dmitri,
In regards to your last letter, we have sent a spy to the lands of King Lineas. As of late yesternight, our sleuth has returned and relayed the information he has gathered. Old King Lineas has died. Before he died, he sent out a letter to one in his court. We have not yet discovered to who the letter was sent, but we do know that he will be on his way to you, in search of the staff of the Goddess. You must, by all means possible, stop him. You cannot lose that staff.
His Majesty, King Grigoriy
Dmitri cursed. This was not a pleasant letter from his Uncle. But then, they never were. Business, always business.
[[Ok, so my main idea was that they were opposing forces, and now not only do we have that he's a wolf, and she's a cat, he's a duke and she's a priestess, but also they are from different countries. And they end up falling in love. I f you don't like that idea, please tell me.]]

((Actually that only makes it much more interesting ^_^))
Itari had just finished packing a bag and a few preparations. She took a look around her home to see if there was anything more she needed. "I think that's about it..." She said slinging her bag over her side, then she snapped her fingers and ran into her room to open a small glass case. Inside there was a dark double blade katana with light blue marks all along it. "Lineas I think this is as good a time as any to use this gift of yours." She said remembering the well deserved graduation. Then she sighed, "He always did treat me like family." Standing up she walked out her back door locked it and decided against taking her horse, instead she left a note in her neighbors mailbox that they were to care for it as if it were there own. She could trust them for sure. And with this she set out, towards the gates of Pekani.

[[Ok, so you like it?]]
Dmitri strapped his sword to his waist and mounted Adrian. The sooner he got out there, the better. He needed to meet the man head on, way before the man ever made it to Dmitri's city. By now, the staff was well hidden. Dmitri had it sent to the underground caves. Only him and a few trusted servants knew about them.
He rode fast and hard all through the night, not sure where the man would be coming from, or who the man would be, he trusted his instincts, hoping to sniff out the man. Soon, Adrian slowed. He was much too tired to ride much further. Dmitri rode in to a local inn and tied Adrian to the horse post. He wiped him down so he wouldn't get sick and went to check in. Only for the night, he told himself. The sooner I can find this man and destroy him, the sooner I can get home and get out of the King's debt.

Itari was exhausted, she had been walking since that afternoon and now it was growing dark. It wasn't cold at all but she would not feel comfortable sleeping in the woods at night, not with all that could happen. Luckily she saw a town nearby, and rushed there to take rest at the first in she saw. As she walked into the inn she was greeted by a light jongle above her head and an overpowering sweet smell. "Excuse me barmaid? Are you busy, I'd like to order something." she said with a smile, sitting down on one of the stools.

[[Okay. ^^]]
Dmitri was just taking his room key when he heard the door jingle. Usually, he would pay no attention to these things, but the person that entered smelled of feline. It made him crazy. He turned sharply, to find a pretty young girl ordering a drink. He smiled and strode up to her. "Can I pay for your drink?" he asked, grinning madly. He crinkled his nose. She didn't just smell of feline, she was feline. A growl erupted from his throat. His hand flew to his mouth as he tried to diguise the growl. Taking a deep breath, he coughed. He had spied her bag, and sticking from the corner of it was a roll of parchment tied up with a red ribbon, signature of King Lineas. Dmitri held his breath and smiled. It would be best to play this cool. Maybe he could trick her somehow. Yes, get her drunk and then lure her to his room. The plan was foolproof. After he got her to his room, he could tie her up, or something. The thing was, she wasn't going to make it to his city.

Turning to see the man who had spoken she almost hissed at him but yawned it away cooly, "It's fine I can pay for my own thanks. It's not like me to take things from strangers." She said batting her eyes playfully. The barmaid brought her a glass of a swirling pink liquid and she sniffed it before taking a sip. "Besides I'm sure you are much too busy for this kind of thing." She said with false sweetness. Of all the people I had to meet, a DOG!?

Dmitri found it hard not to scrunch his nose. Smiling, he asked, "Well, then, can I join you, cat?" There was no use in trying to hide it. They both had good noses. She must be able to tell he was a wolf. He couldn't let her out of his sight. Not when teh staff was at stake. "You pay for your drink, I'll pay for mine, but amy I sit with you?" He was making a sacrifice for his king, so he better be getting paid for this. It was hard to sit next to your enemy and smile. "After all, everyone needs a drink now and then." He slapped a few bills on the table and ordered a shot.

"Fine, fine as long as you don't try to pull anything on me, I'd be more than happy to practice." She said thinking to herself how unlike her this was. Generally she was actually very nice which is probably why the barmaid giggled as she walked by hearing them bicker. "So what brings you to these parts, Wolf?" She said taking another swig of her satin pink drink.

Dmitri struggled to think of something. He knew she was the enemy, and he couldn't tell her the truth, shouldn't tell her the truth, but he honestly had no idea what to tell her. He pursed his lips. Finally, he decided to just tell her. Then they could at least get on with the fighting. Or maybe, a very very small maybe, she might be on his side. Or maybe she could persuade him to be on her side. Anyway, it was better to tell her the truth thatn to lie. The lie would get him nowhere. "You, milady," he said.

She let out a soft laugh and looked to him with her eyes flashing. "Is that so?" She smiled at him gently, wondering why he had been looking for her. Still, she did not want to fight anyone in here with all the innocents around, it was against her code to fight someone who was not her enemy. "So why are you looking for me.. er.. you?" She said realizing she didn't even know this strangers name.

He chuckled. "Dmitri," he said, holding out a hand for her to shake. He did not ask her name, he did not want to put her in an uncomfortable position if she didn't want to tell him her name. Reaching down, he pulled the scroll out of her bag. "This is why," he said, holding up the scroll. " You see," he tossed the scroll from hand to hand, "my sources have told me that you have come for the staff. The problem with that is..." He grinned wickedly. "I'm the staff guardian." Dmitri turned back to the counter and downed his shot. He blew it. He just gave her an easier way of finding the staff. What was he thinking?

Itari wondered why he had told her something so crucial, "Well," she said setting her hand into his, " You can call me Itari, and if you are lookign to stop me you are sadly mistaken." She smiled and gripped his hand gently. Then she finished the rest of her drink and shivered. "I suppose you will just have to kill me then." She said with a laugh, wondering what time it was. "So how about it, stab a lady through the heart?" She said pulling her top down slightly.

Dmitri looked into Itari's eyes, struggling to keep from staring at her chest. "Well, if you can convince me that you need this staff so bad, we might come to an agreement. Or else I just might have to kill you. Beside, you'd never find the staff," he told her blatantly. He put his free hand on top of hers and gripped it, slightly digging his nails into her hand. "We're enemies, you and me, and, however much I hate my country and my king, I cannot allow an enemy to win. So, if I have to, I will kill you." Dmitri paused and furrowed his brow, confused. He opened it again to say something, but closed it before he could speak. Again, he opened it, and began speaking. "In fact, if you can convince me that you need this staff, I might even help you get it. I have no need of it, I see no reason why my country needs it, and I hate my country." Dmitri sighed and released her hand a bit, realizing he had dug into her skin. He slumped in defeat. For some reason, he had no will to stop Itari. He slid off the barstool and went to retrieve his luggage. His face drooped as he called over his shoulder, "Never mind, I don't care anymore. You can have it if you can find it." He headed to his room.

She observed her hand for a moment seeing the marks in them, they stung a little but she had been hurt worse then that. She suddenly felt a stab of guilt and walked over to him, with a gentle voice she put heer hand on his shoulder and said, "Look, I don't mean to cause you greif I am only doing what my king told me to do..." Why am I telling him this?! "You see he died and that scroll is a letter asking me to retrieve the staff, I don't know what I am to do with it, I just know I have to. It's a death wish. If we travel as enemies then let's be quick about it, I won't stop until I finish my mission." She straightened up and retreived a key from the barmaid who had been watching the whole time and made her way upstairs, Am I crazy? I just told my obstacle everything about me... oh how stupid can a girl be? She thought twitching her ear.

Dmitri jumped slightly when she touched him. He hadn't exactly expected her to follow him. Turning to face her, he listened to her explanation, wondering the whole time why she was even telling him this. When she was finally done, and had turned away from him to get the key, Dmitri cleared his throat. "Itari," he said, not really knowing what to say. He mentally kicked himself. How could he be doing this? "I won't stop you on your mission." He kicked himself harder. Now he would be considered a traitor. But Itari, he could see in her eyes the love she had for her dead king, of which he had none. He would never love his king. His king treated him like a puppet, to be played with and tossed to the side. Should he help Itari? Dmitri stood, staring at Itari, waiting for her to say something, Maybe she would convince him of what he should do.

Itari turned wondering what to say back to him, she glanced over at the barmaid who was watching them as though she were watching a drama being performed on stage, Itari blushed. "Well... I thank you..." she said stammering, at a loss for words. "Maybe you could come with me... I don't know what I will run into and it's your territory." She could have ripped her own tounge out at this point, He is from the opposite side, and could be playing a joke on me. What would the king say?! she thought to herself. She was staring down the staris at him wondering if he just jumped for joy inside at getting such a gullible enemy. "So.. um what do you think?"
