It has hurt some people's self esteem. =< Hana's parents are rather strict and harsh. The stereotypical Asian parents. 'cept, they loosened up after she had younger sisters. Only a bit though.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of the Chinese student's I've met have had really low self esteem. They are almost afraid to try anymore, some of them. If they can just relax a bit, they can do better than they realize, but they are just afraid of making mistakes. (Okay, so I can be the same way, I admit it >.> But I don't give up trying.)

Seems like parents are often the strictest with the oldest. *sigh* Younger sisters seem to have it a bit easier sometimes, don't they?

Yes they do. Sigh. It depends on how they're educated. I've got some international student friends that are full of self esteem. =< But around teachers, they're like timid. Lol! I don't give up, although sometimes, I give up for the time, then go back to it, later on.

shimawa; it's because all chinese parents care about is good grades, good job, good life. XD so they stress good grades and responsibility.

Because when they grow older, they want you to look after them. XD

Yeah, well, my parents care about good grades too, but they don't beat me over the head with it. There are other ways to inspire children to excel.

Yeah - a lot of Chinese are intimidated by me at first because I'm a foreigner, but they loosen up after I get them chatting and show that I'm not scary and I won't bite their heads off x.x

Yes...... I hope never to grow old to the point where i become useless to society.... I want nobody to help me when i grow old.... X.x... Its not a pride thing... its an.... " i don't want to become a burden" thing.
