I'd like to start a private fantasy RP for literate, creative people. I'm open to suggestions about plot line, setting, and time period, however, I have a few stipulations.
I would like people who wish to participate to first demonstrate an ability to use correct grammar and spelling, and to demonstrate creativity in their writing style, choice of action, and character development.
Roleplayers of any age are welcome to participate, however, characters must vary in age. There is not to be a disproportionate number of teenagers, as I find this to be very irritating.
Romance is acceptable in small quantities as long as it is not mushy and does not become a focal point of the plotline. This is an RP, not a dating service.
Most importantly, cliche races such as vampires, werewolves, zombies, and angels are NOT welcome. "Emo" characters or characters that exhibit excessive "dark" qualities without some creative twist are not welcome. There is a time and a place to share feelings of teenage angst, but this is not it!
If you are interested, feel free to post suggestions and share something about yourself or your character(s). This is only a tentative plan as of yet. Once a good plot line has been established and there are a number of people interested, we can have a trial RP to make sure everyone follows the guidelines.
Sorry if I come across as harsh, elitist, or closed-minded; it is not my intention to limit people, but to encourage them to be more creative.

Oh, I love literate RP's, I'd love to join when it starts :) But there is a lot work to be done here.

Perhaps you should narrow down the "fantasy" definition for the RP; will it be an epic middle age setting, or simple fantasy races such as elves, dwarves, ...etc? It'd help recruiting people as well. Maybe there'll be little fantasy elements, (godly spells are banned for example? <.<) legends and magic lives only in myths and people's minds perhaps? Rather then asking for choice of others I think you should draw basic outlines. Since it's your rp, it must be to your liking, right? :)

This seems like a quite good idea, and I'd love to be a part of it.
Personally, for fantasy, I prefer the middle ages in terms of technology, after that it just seems to get too complex; though I do like the idea of bits of basic magic, as long as it's limited, as Valendra stated. Perhaps elemental control, but nothing more than that? Or perhaps telepathy as well.
(I happen to have a telepathic Elf who is in dire need of a role play to be used in.)

I'd love to be apart of this as well, if it's still open. I seem to have trouble finding anyone outside of my normal circle to Rp with. *sighs*

Anyway, I too like to be set in the middle ages, it just allows so many different things to be opened up.

Let's see, as for a plot line ... well, it would really depend on what people like to do. Sorry I'm not any help with it, but most of the role-playing I do is more of a -seat of the pants- kind of thing. There really isn't much planning involved. There's a first post and it goes on from there. It a 'whatever happens, happens' kind of thing.

I've actually started to RP on and IRC chatroom (you can pm me for details if interested) that's pretty cool. I think once I get situated with that I'll get a lot better idea of what I'd like as far as plot and whatnot. Glad to see at least a few people are interested; I'm starting to get a vague idea of where I'd like to go with this, so I'll try to keep this updated as the idea evolves.
So far I'm liking the idea of a race of celestial dragons (wooh, magical animals that live in outer space @.@) that take on humanlike form to interact with the world at large. It stems from some weird ideas I had as a kid.
