I've been on for a few hours, and I have noted many things, such as:
1. Lack of games: There should be a little more of a selection. I know this site is new, but getting the permission of some game makers could greatly improve the variety, thus make the site more addicting.
2. Too strict: If this site is about fun, why can't we post little pictures at the start of of posts, and things? It's not spam, as you say, it's decorating. I mean, if the picture is oversized, then it's not useful. But it's no more than a quote, or a few words.
3. Not everything needs to be discussion: Quizzes should be allowed to an extent. Seriously! Other sites has them, even if they're not about entertainment. They are used to gain gold, as well as to amuse users. Is that seriously a problem? Or do you not want people to gain gold quickly?
4. Spam threads: There should be a section dedicated to it. People like being random, and don't feel like posting a sentence or two to show it. Even then, if the sentence does not make any sense, you would probably make that a problem as well.
There is much more I can pick out, but I won't.... for now. Well, this wasn't any form of spam, or the sort. This is constructive criticism so you can better the site. It's no wonder you have a lack of users with such strict thread. And isn't this about fun, and entertainment? Also, if this is a repost, then I apologize, but I did search for another thread like this, and found none. Also, if one is as structured as this, then send me a link, so I can go agree with them.
Don't ban me for this. I have freedom of speech, and I use it for us, and to improve things for us all. And do not throw me aside for being a newb, or the fact that I am criticizing. I have been in many bloging/posting/other sites, and am experienced with these things. I have many ideas of how to improve the site, but I wish for you to see my initial statements beforehand.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

A section dedicated to spam threads is pointless. If you feel the urge to randomly post stupid stuff, gaia is there for that.
You aren't allowed little images at the start of posts because it artificially inflates your gold count, makes the page take longer to load, usually isn't decorative, and it would take too much time at the moment for them to make it so you don't gain gold from images.
Quizzes have no part of discussion, and aren't fun. They are just a way to rip gold off of the system. Who cares what gender you are, or if you can make it through 20,000 questions.

If they are so caring about their gold, then they can program the site not to accept anything within a URL setting. Also, Gaia is successful, because it has what this site lacks. Thus why they have over eighty thousand users. Also, another point about gold, people want them, so why not make a thread so you get get some? If they want to counter it, raise prices, or make more items.

A lot of the users on Mene appreciate these rules, though. Personally, I hated all of the spam on Gaia and after I'd been on the site for awhile, I avoided the chatterbox like the plague.
There is a forum for word games if you're into that kind of thing, and the gold gaining is disabled in there. I suggest if you're into that kind of thing, check out that forum or just do that kind of thing on Gaia.
There is talk of getting new games, and now that there is a new owner, maybe there will be more added.
The point of this site is not gold gain like Gaia seems to have become. The point is community. The rules encourage community by keeping out the spam and making people actually discuss and communicate with each other. We like it this way, or from what I see, most of us like it this way.
I'm sure once you've been here longer, you'll better appreciate the community feel that the rules create. The admins and mods and even the owner come in and actually talks with us. Mene is a good site the way it is.

The games are a bonus in my opinion. This is an online forum and it shouldn't be having its public userbased focused on games. The games are there to have fun when you are bored. However, I rarely play the games I go around and chat with everyone. Myself and several others chat with everyone and we all have a blast.

You can post pictures. I have several banners which I use for my exchange thread. I also will randomly post new pictures of art also that I get. There is nothing wrong with using pictures as long as it is not the only thing in the post, with the exception of posting a new piece of art, it can be the center of a topic and not deter from it.
Edit: Oh, you are talking about the post beautifiers. I know several users find those greatly annoying just for the fact when you quote the person you have to edit so much coding its rather annoying. Especially when the text is multicolored.
Justin pretty much covered the reason why you do not.

There is a forum called "word games" which there are things like Quizzes that goes on there. You do not need to have a thread set to one discussion. Why not just hang out with people? Want to play a word game or have quizzes go into Word forum and make one. It would fall under Word Forum since a quiz can be a answered with a single word.
The staff has made many ways for users to gain gold. You get a 500g limit per account (you are allowed two accounts, one main and one mule) which is 1000g per day. 7k a week. 28k a month from games. The more you chat and post the quicker you make gold. You can also try your luck at the Exchange with buying and selling items for profit to make gold. It is very profitable for alot of users.

There is no reason for spam threads. Why not just hold a conversation with people? Jump through threads and hold several conversations. There are enough people around this site at all times you can have a conversation somewhere. Meet people, that is what one of the goals of this community is.

Well, you are in the feedback forum. May as well put all your thoughts down. No need to hold back on them.
Well, everyone who is actively online every day here comes here to hold conversations. Honestly, if there was a SpamBox area that would make the users higher, but would also cause alot of the members now to leave since this is a 'haven' away from Spam. A place people can come to not worry about getting 'bump' in their thread rather then "Hey! How's it going?"

First thing's first, we don't ban when it comes to users' opinions. Everyone has the right to speak their mind and we don't deter you not to and in fact many times encourage it so some things can be made better if our own reasoning is off.
However, this site does have the strict rules against spam for a reason. Like everyone already stated, this site is for community where you can easily find a thread in the Exchange or Menewsha Nations to chat without a set discussion. The general discussion and community discussion, need discussion because that's what those forums are for, as are the others that should follow a discussion because someone or other made the thread to chat about their favorite band/movie/book. This place wasn't made with the intention of gaming but chatting, without having to see bump everywhere.
Gold is fairly easy to make once you break out of the shell of what you're used to at other sites. You gain gold for each character you type that isn't a code character. Flobs are against the rules because the URL also goes towards this and it isn't a part of conversation but just something extra for extra gold. It's also a courtesy not to have them for users who have slower connections, for some Mene loads slow enough as it is without images in every post they come across. As well as quizzes, they don't promote discussion and they are just made for the gold. As was suggested, those could go well in the word games forum if you so wish to make quizzes and others don't mind going through the time answering such quizzes without gaining profit from either the post of the quiz or the others answering the questions.
Games are always on their way, but not to sound repetitive but it's not our main focus. Users already can gain a lot from the games if they are into the monotony of them.. A cap is in place so one can't stay hiding in the games, to promote again.. community. Personally I find it easier and faster to make gold in the forums in a days worth of chatting than playing games that take up a lot of time and yes get boring after a while. ^^;
Menewsha is considered a 'Haven' of sorts from other sites that do have spam/flaming or no real conversations. There's always someone around willing to pick up a conversation if you look, so it's not quite as bad as one might think. We might not have the same user base as some sites but the ones we do have enjoy it and are loyal to it and there's always more joining up each day. Some will like our little community others will find flaws from what they are used to.. In the end it's hear to serve the users to have a place different to go to have a good conversation.
If you have anything further to add, this is the suggestion forum. Please don't feel to hold back. :)

I must thank you all for your replies. What you have all said is understandable, and I now accept the rules without question. I appreciate that you took the time to answer me with an explanation. So many times have I been answered with things like "You suck", or "If you don't like it, then leave!" The maturity in which you replied has led me to see that this site truly is what I have been looking for. I have been searching for a place to avoid those who flame, and insult just because they could. And as you said I need to "Break out of the shell."
I apologize for my forwardness, and my attacking attitude. Also, you are all a little late on telling me to go to the Word Games forums. Haha. Yes, I do enjoy such things. Also, I do like gaining gold from games, but that is not the reason I play them. I like a select few fun games just to relax sometime. The pick here (aside from that evil Helicopter game) reminded me of the old days of gaming. Especially Asteroids.
I will remain a long term member, and I hope to talk to you all in other forums as well. Once again, thank you.

Well, I know that if you show intelligence you will get it in return. You had a very well put together first post which got you lots of responses due to it was just a "Omg this site sucks. the rules suck." That isn't broad enough to give detailed answers like you have been given. ^__^
Forwardness is good. There are alot of people who are very forward. I am sure you will find them all easy enough.
Glad to see you enjoy this site so far and hope it does become a permanent place that you feel you can come and be yourself and hang out. =)

I am really glad to see that you actually took our replies into consideration, also glad to see you're not just flaming us for the rules and stuff. I've seen others do that, and they don't tend to stick around.
But, yeah, welcome to Mene, and I hope you stick around.
And like they've said, the users and staff here are usually good about taking criticism, as long as you're actually putting some good thought into it, like you have with this one. Our Feedback forum is alive for that reason, and it's good <3
(and personally, I like Snake... I find it addicting when I do play it, always trying to beat my personal best XD Fun times.)
EDIT: oh, and lol, I just realized that I misread your poll XD I meant to vote for "Nay!" I thought you were asking if the site was fun or not, which is a definite yes in my opinion XD

We generally try to stay away from that sort of thing here. We value our member base and do enjoy helping everyone realize what might not be obvious in the beginning. :) Everyone has a right to speak up and receive decent feedback.
And don't apologize, if you had not been you wouldn't have gotten feedback on the things that bother you most but a more generic reply which might not have been what you were looking for.
Welcome to Menewsha however, and I do hope you continue to enjoy yourself. :)

Something alot of users may feel. I know I felt this way before the ownership switch. Was that there were hardly any updates after the software switch everything pretty much stayed the same. With the exception of the new shop updates, events we were having, and the countless layers we have received. Most people, also I don't think realize the amount of layers we have now in comparison to before.

Ah but that was out of our hands, Bartuc. It's true that very little was done after the software switch, because the site just wasn't making enough money to pay for Ken's services. Lee simply couldn't afford to let Ken work for us for 80 hours a week as he had been previously.
This is where having an owner who can code himself makes such a big difference, and is why things are actually happening now :)
