Lawl I don't watch that since forever ago, but I started watching Fringe the other day. Because they filmed part of it at Pratt and I want to see if I recognize the building when they show it.

I've only seen most of the first episode. But all JJ Abrams shows are good when they first start out, and then after 3 or so seasons they start getting ridiculous. Usually he introduces some sort of supernatural element and after that it all gets contrived and stupid. But this one starts out with a supernatural element, so maybe it can go longer without sucking!! ...or maybe it'll suck sooner. We'll have to wait and see.

LOST doesn't suck! Season 2 was kind of slow, but none of it is bad.

I finally finished Project Runway, and you were sooo right, Kinley was the biggest annoying person ever in the whole history of the show; even moreso than Santino, who I hated big time.

No, from the moment that stupid mist thing or whatever it was grabs someone by the ankle - I forget who - the show was intolerably stupid. Seriously, I will sit through most shows after they get bad, but JJ Abrams shows get really bad.

Yeah Kenley was annoying but, like Santino, she had cute designs.

What's up Yusin :D

Project Runway is like...my favorite show ever. Along with House, and Ace of Cakes, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

...and all that isn't even counting all the j-dramas I like, because then I'd have to mention Hana Yori Dango (BOTH series..es..), Nobuta wo Produce, Yamada Taro Monogatari, Yoiko no Mikata, Attention Please, Tsubasa no Oreta Tenshitachi...and the show(s) I am inevitably forgetting.

-sigh- don't you hate it when you've typed an entire message only to discover you hit back?

Not much going on here. School has been pretty boring, but my drama class's.. uh... Musical makes me want to shoot myself.

I don't really watch much TV... I mostly read. but i have heard of hana Yori dango.. Whats it about? I discovered Yaoi manga at borders. It makes me happy.

I see your drawing skills have improved over time. I am jealous.

Mizzle- yeah, Yusin saw the conversation from last night and was continuing it. :D

Yusin- Hana Yori Dango is a pretty popular manga/anime too. The American title is "Boys over Flowers". It's one of those shoujo manga that is all dramatic but I don't like the art style. Buttttt Matsumoto Jun is in the drama, and he is one of my favorite actors of all time. Also Oguri Shun. :D Yeah

Long story short, it's about a poor girl who goes to a prestigious rich people's school, and tends to get ignored, but accidentally crosses the path of F4 ("Flower Four"), a group of four boys from extra-powerful families who rule the school and tend to be mean...so she stands up to them, and...uh...hijinx ensue.

Oh! I read that! all of it! I liked it. Not the art style, but the story was great. Maybe I'll try the drama too then! mm... The art style in that is really old fashioned seeming to me... How long is the drama series?

ehe?.. I actually don't know anyones name in project runway. so.. uh... yeah.

Yusin- Yeah, I don't like old-fashioned art styles. Like Sailor Moon. I actually didn't like the art style of FAKE, despite it being one of my all-time favorite mangas ever. One of the only yaoi I've ever read with a decent storyline, but the storyline was AMAZING.

The first season of the drama is 9 episodes and the second season is...8 or 9, I think. Dramas tend to be pretty short in Japan. They aren't like in America where a show will go on until it sucks and gets canceled, a show in Japan will have a set story and it will just run until the story is over then end. Only very popular shows get sequels, like Hana Yori Dango did. So really it's not "season one" or "season two", it's a sequel series.
But yeah, shows are usually 8-12 episodes.

Mizzle, shut up.

Can't say I blame you. Ah. I've found a few I really like. such as... Only the Ring Finger knows. I've been debating reading FAKE...

Wow. That is short in comparison to American dramas. but it's also smart. Since it means it doesn't get uber crappy. Or.. is less apt to. I guess... Hope..

I loooooove Only The Ring Finger Knows!!! :D

Yeah, it definitely means shows are better, because you never get a forced storyline. American shows tend to have a "gimmick" of sorts, something that can last them episode after episode. Japanese shows are just a story. The story is told and the show ends, nothing is ever forced. It also means that your favorite actors will be in a lot of shows you can watch! :D

Oh damn!! You have the third novel? Sandra and I have both only read the first two! Would it be okay if we borrowed it once you were done? I promise to keep it for less time than your Gosurori :D

I think the manga was adorable, but the books...Yuichi becomes a total bitch, huh? It's stressful to read!

When that other college guy (I forget his name :gonk:) starts liking Wataru too...or acting like he likes Wataru...and Yuichi is all jealous, there was a part of me that was saying "Just leave Yuichi for him! >_>"

I mean I like Yuichi but he needs to CHILL OUT!! xD

xDD It's been so long since I've read it I don't remember the characters too well, but yeah.

The nice thing about Japanese books/manga/drama/whatever is that in Japan, there is a trend of things like that being more focused on characters than on storyline. So for instance if you step back and look at Only the Ring Finger Knows or Hana Yori Dango, while they have basic storylines, the real focus of both is "these are these people. This is them living their lives."

I really like that. A lot of people prefer an elaborate, creative storyline, and don't mind if the characters aren't that unique. Which is understandable, but it's not what I care about the most, you know? For instance, I'd much rather watch a show like Degrassi, which is just about some kids in high school - but the entire show is just following their lives, so you get really detailed personalities. That is, as opposed to something like...I dunno, Alias, which is really intense and has hella plot twists and stuff, but the characters don't have particularly unique personalities.
And while I think that both shows kick ass, I prefer Degrassi because I like just watching unique people live normal lives than watching normal people live unique lives.

...long rant is long, but my point is that I like Japanese writing/shows/whatevs because they tend to often share that focus.

Edit:
Thoth Star - You better believe it! :D

mm.. Understandable.

Awesome. character development is nice. but plot twists make things interesting. So.. i guess both are pretty good.

Drammatica music=win. Me being totally random.

I am fresh and clean now :D

Well, it also depends on what I'm watching. In movies I prefer plots because there isn't enough time to get really good character development going, so I want an intense plot. Something like the original Saw (not the sequels, which were slashers, I mean Saw 1, the psychological thriller) or an M. Night Shyamalan movie or something.
And emotion! I automatically like any movie that makes me cry. Like Girl, Interrupted.

I have enough money to buy my avatar boots now...but I'm suddenly conflicted, like...should I get something else instead?

Mm... Understandable. i can see why too. I've never heard of any of those so i can't give an opinion.

.... I cry a lot in movies, so for me it's usually any writing that makes me cry i like...

Go for the boots.... Or.. what else would you buy?

replies will be slow.. doing HW.
