I've just hit 42, so 50 is still a reasonable challenge. I might not be able to finish it in time, but winter vacation is inching up soon. Maybe I can do a cram session when I get home. :XD
Thoth: I'm really enjoying the book I ended up with. It says it's sci-fi but it's not set very far from now (2017 I think) so it's not like spaceships or aliens or anything. I'll definitely check out more from the author when I'm finished.
I bought the Stroud book (The Amulet of Samarkand) off eBay but I need to get through my library books first. >.<
To those who've been talking about Twain, you need to read his "Diaries of Adam and Eve."
@Lilith: Robin McKinley has always been one of my favorite authors since I picked up a copy of "Beauty." I own every single one of her books, even "The Stone Fey."
Also, my posting will be sporadic because my computer died, and I'm relying on borrowed computers until my new laptap arrives.
@Kita: It's wonderful! There are a few of the characters whom I dislike greatly, but Jean Valjean is a fantastic person.
Hugo is a bit verbose-- I think that authors were paid by the word back then-- but the storyline itself is wonderful.
@Cherry: I've convinced a few friends to read Syrup. You've started a tornado of WOM. :)
Even without a Chicago trial!
Peculiar trend I've noticed lately: whenever I'm planning to move, even to a local area, I read a slew of loaner books in hopes of getting them back to people quickly. And I stare at my bookshelves with a sense of fear. They're not exactly a boon to pack.
Planning to move this August, but I'm already getting antsy about it.
Has anyone on here read Macolm Gladwell? He's a stunningly brilliant nonfiction author, and he wrote Blink and The Tipping Point. Anyways, apparently he's come out with a new book: Outliers.
Ahh, Pocoyo! My iGoogle theme is Pocoyo... I'll watch anything that has even the slightest connection to Stephen Fry. I ought to read some more of his books for my challenge. XD
@Cherry: Haven't got through Blink yet (I've been waiting for a friend to lend it to me), but I read The Tipping Point and adored it. Gladwell's style is wonderful. I'm looking forward to Blink cheering me up, actually.
@Thothy: Good luck! Please don't brainmelt! Enjoy Jacob, when you get there!
@Willow: Welcome! What book are you planning to make the first on your list?
{ Magneta }: I love Stephen Fry too! He is magic! Thats why I started to watch Pocoyo when I realised he did the voice over. I'm guessing your a QI fan as well then?
{ Aislin }: Thank you! I am about 20 chapters away from finishing 'EVE: The Empyrean Age'. It is a sci-fi book written based around the game EVE Online. I've really enjoyed it and don't really want it to finish actually! xD

I've only just come across this, but I'll give it a go as it sounds like a wicked idea, and seems a nice way to keep track.
- ^ And ooh. Stephen Fry!

@tirethminet: @_@ Your bookcase is an entire wall, why do you need to ransack mine? Though how is The Graveyard Book? I really need to get more Neil Gaiman, I have an urge to read MirrorMask.
@Blahrrgh
Welcome!
Once you finish reading Life of Pi, let us know how you like it. I read it a few years ago and was pretty impressed with the first few chapters. It kind of petered off once Martel started writing the actual plot, but it's an overall good book.
Edit:
Oops, looks like I missed a few people.
Welcome Willow_Moon & tirethminet! I've added your lists to the first page, too.
@Willow: Sounds good! I've never heard of the game or the book before. I'm glad that you're enjoying it. Do you usually prefer sci-fi?
@tirethminet: Would you like called Leenie? Let me know if you enjoy Inkheart! I read it a couple of years ago, and liked it a lot; I'm considering picking it up again so that I can read the sequel as well.
@Blahrrgh:YES! Life of Pi! For school or pleasure?
Jeez, I wish I'd found this thread in August. The last three months I've read over 50 books. I have a life list, but it's no fun just to post them when you're done with ALL of them.
