Well, I'm not going to finish the challenge this year. :lol:

I'm going for it again next year though. o:
Would it be okay if I re-read some of the books that I read this year, Knerd? -has limited resources-

Sure! Go ahead and do whatever you like.

You can make up whatever rules you want for the challenge. We're not all that strict. :lol:

TEEHEE GENE SHOWALTER. was it good?
I meant just my books, not that you haven't read a lot, just that with all your books, most of mine aren't on your shelves. I was saying we have different tastes... Yet the same. @_@;

Yes, Gena Showalter was really good, I'm already halfway through her second book in the series. Its the first time I actually liked a 'Romance' genre novel. Most of the time I find them to sappy and unrealistically real. (Aka: They try to be 'real' but it would never happen in real life.) Though I think I liked it because of the fighting, supernatural, Greek mythology, and the explosions... The romantic part was not that bad either. xD
Did I mention there was an ad for 'The Darkest Night' on the inside cover of 'The Darkest Night' saying "Available May 2008" ...? :lol:

Oh, we can add books that we read twice to the list twice? I feel like I wasted so much time by reading the Twilight books twice in a month. xD;

@cherry - i guess i just haven't grown up, then. XD
i'm keeping a lot of series i started when i was 11-12 (remnants, the water trilogy, avalon, deltora quest, etc.)

@stormy - good luck on applying at the store opening near you. ;]
borders isn't so bad, but i must say, they're a good bit less organized than us. it feels more like a department store than a book store.

@lumi - teehee. i think dani and i need to have a book counting contest. she has more bookcases, but mine are bigger. 8D
and do you know if it's a real starbucks, or it's just that the cafe serves starbucks products? because it's really rare if there's a real starbucks attached.
and that's one of the few things i'm not trained in, cafe, but like i said before, i'm clumsier than bella, so that would be a bad idea to throw me in the kitchen. XD

@dani - i think it's just that we found different books that we both like. if we merged our collections, they would be a large fraction of all the books we could possibly like, with very few repeats.
so now i need to read them. damn you, dani. >:[
and lol, advertisingfail.

all:
i updated my list so now i have three books i'm in the middle of, a novel, an audiobook, and a manga.
i have no attention span, whatsoever. ._.;;
also, i found a totally adorable real-life romantic story. on WIKIPEDIA.
this author and a prime minister got each other's letters (that were sent to them from other people) by accident and finally met and get married in 1904. =3=
... i had something else to say, but i forgot. :[
it will come back to me sometime.

Yeah I uhm need another bookcase. Maybe an actual library attached to my house would work.
I officially just lost all money for books. So now I can't buy anymore until I find a new job. T_T

Dream - Check out this site, then.
http://www.paperbackswap.com
I guarantee you that it's legit and safe. I've ordered almost every book on my list from it.
You post books that you have and don't want anymore, then people request them. You mail them your book and pay for shipping. You get one credit for each book that is sent. Then you request books from other people completely free. You don't pay a dime.
So all you ever pay is 1-2 dollars in shipping to ship your own books out.
It's great.
And the books are in good condition, too. And if you're really picky, you can put up a thing that will tell the people that you're requesting a book from what kind of quality you want (like "no rips, but spine creases are okay").
It's a lifesaver since books can get pretty expensive.

@dani - i think maybe we should just make our own personal library.
just for us. and we can read each other's books. XD
... out of the blue, i just thought of the library from the beauty and the beast. @_@;;;;

@cherry - the only problem with that is both of us like to keep all of our books.

And you're sure that there's NONE that you don't want anymore? Like, any little kid books? Or maybe your parents have some books that they don't want?

You can also buy credits for like, two dollars, I think. So still, you're getting books really cheap.

Cherry. I love you. XD
There used to be a book swap store about 20 minutes from my house. It was great you could trade books for equally sized books, donate, or you could buy some. I miss it.

I have books that I never liked but read because I can't stand to put a book down. So I could trade those in.

i may have some books like that, but less than ten in my entire collection.
(well, manga aren't included in that because i have a great deal of those i wish to trade)
... i should have kidnapped all the books my stepdad tossed in the recycling a few months ago, but they were all computer books and such, so i didn't grab them. :[
there's also bookmooch as well as paperbackswap. i think there's another one, but i don't remember what it is.

tonight i just went to pick up books i ordered a while ago and because it's employee appreciation week at b&n, we get 40% off instead of the usual 30%.
my order was all four volumes of journey to the west plus a manga. the whole purchase should have been about $110 for a regular customer, including tax, but i got it for $65. 8DDD
i would have gotten more books, but i had no time to browse. (as it was, i was walking out of the door at 5 past closing)

Dream - Yay! I hope it helps.
And you don't even have to worry about the books being of equal value. You could send a tiny kiddie book off and use the credit to buy a popular hardcover.

Tireth - I'm not sure if paperbackswap accepts manga or not. I don't have any and I don't want any, so I've never looked. It's worth checking, though.
And I know how you feel about "Oh, if only I had kept those books..."
There's also a site just like that for swapping CDs. But a few months before I discovered it, I gave away about seven CDs. ><

i think i just mentally threw up and cried at the same time. fail.

so it does accept manga, but i think i will be bringing manga to cons to swap (if they have a swap organized like manganext does) just because i know it will be going to a good home and i will get something i want in return for it. :]

... damn you, dani. damn you. ::shakefist::

Tireth: That's so many types of wrong. I think half a star could be half a star too many. What is a cine-manga anyway? Real pictures with speech bubbles? I'm ignorant in the ways of manga.

I was looking at abebooks.co.uk but even though the books are cheap (less than £1) the postage is usually about £3. Thanks Royal Mail.

@Leenie: I feel ill. Like really ill now. Who published it? I need to have a talk with that company.

@Kat: Cine-manga are basically what you said, images from the show printed in manga form with the word bubble. I've never seen one for a live action show before, only anime.

Speaking of Manga Some guy in America is being charged for having 'Obscene' manga. He might get up to 20 years in jail. \ fail. This is scaring me a bit. T_T

I really like this idea... and I think i'll start at the beginning of next year. I'm always reading about 2-3 books at a time and I don't want to start the challenge mid-book. So I think once I finish the books i'm on right now I'll start my list.

I'm sure you can. When I started, I just set my start point as the beginning of the year, though I first posted in summer or spring. So I included all the books I had already finished this year.

Were it not for the fact that I've read so many books since January that I've forgotten some of the titles already... *laughs* I'd probably do the same thing.

You can always start your challenge today, and then end it on the exact same day next year. :yes:

I dropped off of the face of the planet for a week, and there are tons and tons and tons of posts that I missed on this thread! *flails*
