Speaking of which, I'm going to update the list right now. I know that I've missed a few people in the past pages.
If you want to start a completely new list for 2009, or want me to get rid of your old one from the front page, just post here about it and give me some links!
Edit:
Okay, the list should be all caught up now.

Haha I was talking about Raven's Gate, not The Carnivorous Carnival. xD

@dani - but. you capitalised it, as well.
@alaunt - aw <3 i missed you guys, too.
@kat - so how was the girl with the dragon tattoo?
@audiobook discussion - audiobooks are useful when i am knitting because i got crazy when i can't occupy both my hands and my mind at the same time. it was also pretty useful just this week when i went on a six hour drive to the family's ranch. and it got dark before we were done driving. kelly finished listening to the book-which-must-not-be-named (for the second time) and i finished the fourth in the same series (WOOHOO) so we both started listening to coraline. (and neil gaiman's voice kept putting me to sleep. XD)
ps.
so. this weekend we went to visit the ranch (my stepdad's father's ranch) and we rode the 4-wheelers (and i didn't become a motorized disaster), fed the cattle (and i almost fell off of the truck we used to take the hay rolls to them, whoops! 8DDD), and pushed a truck at the car lot (which was really very boring).
IT'S AN ADVENTURE!

Raven's Gate was written by Anthony Horowitz, I think. If you're talking about the Power of Five books. (Which I need to add to my list if I can find them.)

I've just started reading The Host, by Stephenie Meyer, and I have to say I like the writing style better than the style she used in Twilight. It's like she suddenly matured. The story's very interesting two. I'm only about 40 pages in, though. I just got it a couple of hours ago at Target, and followed my mother through the mall with the book right under my nose. I got a discount because my cover's ripped ( :( ) but that's okay, because I can't afford many books anyway XD
I'll have to finish Eclipse before I get back to The Host, though. I don't want the two different writing styles by the same author to mix me up XD
The Wanderer is already more interesting that Bella. >w>

Plat - Yeah, my boyfriend said that the Host was much more mature. More of... "real" book, I guess, rather than a fluffy book.
Can't afford books, you say? http://www.paperbackswap.com
I mentioned Max Barry like, ONCE and then five other people started reading his books (before I started mentioning him a ton), but I have to post that link a thousand times... xDD

Jenova:: Yes! That's the one, thank you~!
I've only read (well, technically listened to) the first one and I had a horrible flu at the time. >_>
The librarian said she'd recheck the audio book out for me over the phone because I was too sick to get to the library.
SHE LIED. 8D
So, for a few years now, I've owed like a $35 or something fine to the library. >_>
Because fines on in-demand audio books, that you keep for three extra weeks because you thought that's how long you had to keep it, are bloody expensive. Dx
Anyway, I'd like to read it again.

That has his blog and a few short stories. You can get the sense of his writing style there.

*snort* EVERY TIME I MENTION HIM. xDD
Refer to what I just wrote to Jenova, though.
You usually can't find books that are NEW and popular there (Like, oh, say, Twilight), but you can find older popular books (Like The Lovely Bones) or semi-popular books, or books that no one has ever heard of. xD

Tireth: I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The first couple of chapters baffled me a bit with Swedish words and business/financial talk but once I got into the story I couldn't put it down. The sequel is currently in the post to me right now (yay 10% off Waterstones voucher) so when that arrives my dad won't see me again for a few days. XD
The postage on the UK equivilent of Paperback Swap (abebooks.co.uk) is usually more than the books themselves. It's usually cheaper to buy the books new from somewhere like play.com or waterstones.com because they have free delivery. :/

@Platinum - Well, all of the books are really good. And you can generally get hardback, first edition, signed and dustjacketed for a really good deal. And in good condition. ^-^
It's also really easy to find the hard to find books there. For instance, I've been searching everywhere for a hardback version of Green Rider by Kristin Britain for a very long time, and just this morning I found it there! I still need to buy it though . . . >.>

@kat - cools, i might read that sometime. but maybe in paperback. i have so many other books i own that i need to catch up on right now. XD
also, the site i was talking about, readitswapit.co.uk, is more about swapping for points instead of buying books, so you really only have to pay for shipping the book to the person you are swapping with.
ps.
so guys. i am going to finish the graveyard book and coraline in the next week.
i WILL. or else i will never finish them.
and then i will have to finish sabriel. GAH, DISTRACTIONS. halp. :[

Neat! I'm hoping I can find this one set of books that someone linked me too but I haven't seen in any of the bookstores I've been to lately, even though I know they exist XD
I'll need to save up some money first, though. I'm developing a love for hardcover books! XD

@ Platinum Child: And Hardcover books just look so much better on a shelf. They look so regal, and cultured. And they're absolutely essential for making a house steampunk -- as they didn't really do paperback glossy shiny books....

@dani - i want an attention span. D:
and loud neighbors. >:[
(also go check the thread on fb.)
@platy - what books are they?
@jenova - coooooool, steampunk house. frankly, though, it makes me sad. most of the books i own are paperback and most of the hardcovers still wouldn't fit in a steampunk house.
i should make leather covers for all of my books. XDDDD
that would be awesome. much love for steaminess.
